    Thank you once again Dr. Cowan. I first look at the NHC information, and then I turn your videos (and the information your website) to try to really understand what is going on. You've got quite a gift in being able to explain tropical systems in a no-hype manner!

    Thanks Levi from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Really getting nervous about the extended "wobble" to the right. Not wishing Ida on anyone else but as a survivor of Katrina and a witness to that extraordinary storm surge I do not want to relive that experience again. Stay safe everyone 🙏

      We are in Kiln just above I-10. You should evacuate if you haven’t yet and come up to the shelter. Family in pearlington is coming here and the rest evac to Florida.

    Levi; thank you for yet another great update and explanation! I have been studying meteorology my whole life. I had my first weather station at 8 years old. I have met Dr. Greg Forbs and many others forecasters along the way. I have been fallowing your Tropical Tidbits for 2 years now and I have to say in my experience, no one has explained tropical weather phenomenon better than you! You're the best!!

Even though I am in Nova Scotia, my heart and prayers are with all my American Cousins, especially to the south and Louisiana!     Seeing cars packed up from Louisiana and Mississippi around Pensacola- saw a convoy of black disaster trucks with cranes heading West yesterday around 2pm- they have the truck, trailer, and crane for debris removal.
    This will affect the entire Coast- it is already with refugees....
    God Be With Everyone This Storm Touches.

    What Mark Sudduth just saw on the top end of Lake Pontchartrain was yet another dynamic, Low Pressure lift. The water rose by about four feet in twenty minutes, without wave action. No tide, no storm surge, it just rose. That was near Mandeville, c0300.
    The eye's c30 miles across 0500.

    969 MB at the 8 PM now, part bad news it has time to strengthen greatly yet and that 85 86 degree and deep water will add that fuel to the already powerful storm. Its going to be a long night, Reed timer is down there now Levi I'm not sure if you know him but he uses your tropical tidbits, he left his little dog Gizmo home for this storm chase. much respect Dr. Cowan and thank you so so much for the videos guiding people along step by step. Thoughts and prayers for you folks from Canada have a short and long term plan okay bless you good folks.

    I remember back when Matthew was about to make landfall at my location on east coast of Florida and watching you. Pretty informative. I feel like it depends on where you live and what you live in as far as effects though. Power outage is usually imminent. But I know it's hard to believe...people have to try and live for a minute off the grid. Always funny to me how the panic ensues

      We drove through the panhandle after Michael and I literally cried at the miles and miles of leveled land. Saddest thing I have ever seen, we came here to coastal MS after Katrina but I’ve seen pictures and family lived through it. So scary. Zeta was our worst storm before this one.

    Edit: definitely was. Among top 5 most destructive US hurricanes. Devastated the gulf coast and flooded the northeast.

    bruh my family wont leave, i have a lot of family in their new orleans and they dont want to leave their homes. my mom left before katrina happened but my grandma stayed and she lost all of her stuff and then she moved to georgia with us.some of my family is still there and they wont leave.

    She's still holding winds at 105 mph, as of 10 pm. The pressure is still dropping though, so do not let your guard down. I'm in Southwest Louisiana, I remember Laura well, a cat 4 landfall last year. Pay attention, people

    Levi I’m in Baton rouge what are the maximum sustained winds can I see. I saw one place said 90 and another 110. It’s the worst storm ever to hit Baton Rouge

      Both 90 and 110 could become reality. There is some uncertainty, so nobody will be able to tell you until fairly shortly before landfall.

    I thought they were about to be so wrong again like henri .. late last night it was still only a cat 2 but i guess the hurricane hunters were having trouble so over night everyone kept saying it looks like it got way worse and stronger and eventually that ended up being the case.. Mother Nature is crazy, i feel like a couple days ago it wasnt even a hurricane.. i used some app and the highest winds close to the top right center were at 153 but i heard it can be up to 180 when it makes landfall .. i feel for the people that went to sleep last night, saying to themselves oh its only a cat 2 its not as bad as i thought and now they’re waking up like wtf and in shock… crazy stuff mannn but good work!!!
