Thanks to Travis Pastrana there will be..arc .. American rally cross associateion just like closed and said we're done at the end of the 2018 season right before carona hit!!?
Very nice video. I didn't realise you could reverse the stock intake manifold. I'd love to hear more about what it took to get that done. I think that's a good move for any of the FMIC guys.
Between Dirtfish and Team O’Neil the US should be putting out some pretty damn good rally drivers in the future. Rally’s looking good in the US, wish rallycross would catch on better.
This is very informative. I have had a desire to one day do rally. That is always my dream. I have followed your videos . I appreciate all the information you provide.
Great video and I’m happy you recommend the ej20 I have a factory manual prodrive, ej20 wrx sti wagon with quaife differentials all around and a dealership fitted fia certified roll cage
Can you show some details on your fender liners at some point. Everyone refers to them, but I can’t find any detail videos to build our own for rally cross. Great walk through.
Good video, but small correction: Reiger is very good dampers but are not used by any of the top WRC team as far as I know: M-Sport Ford: ZF Sachs (previously Reiger) Hyundai: PKM (French, previously Italian EXT) Toyota: BOS
What is the weight balance of the car? With the engine in front of the front axles is there the concern that the nose will dive down if the car goes airborne?
what kinda diff do u use for front, center & rear?do u use active center diff to do power split of 50:50 or 30:70,something like that?r u using carbon fiber trans shaft?also,i heard that some subaru rally cars use v-mount intercooler layout, any reason u prefer front mount?thanks for ur high quality video as always!
We use the STI R4 plated front diff, OEM center diff and Cusco 1.5 way diff in the rear. The Motec ECU controls electronic portion of center differential. We do use a carbon fiber driveline. The front-mount can be larger and provide better cooling.
Great video! A few questions: What lights do you use on the hood? What fuel does the engine use? How much power is it tuned for, or does that vary by event? Is lack of AC an issue on hotter events? Does the car still have heat?

Great question. It’s similar to Group N, but there are less restrictions, so it has the sequential gearbox, it’s lighter, has a custom wiring loom, a custom cooling package, etc.
Could you show or give info on what you did for the plastic splash guards? Does it have a gap between the underbody and the plastic? Any tips for making that are much appreciated
A Question: when you analyze the roads of a country like Dominican Republic with the huge dips in the streets in areas, big crater type holes you can sometimes run into, huge bumpers on some roads. I was thinking if I moved there that WRX Sti really is too low to the ground. What kinds of things would need to be done to raise it high enough to not get damaged at the same time have high performance?
Anybody have a good website that can show what events are happening that dirtfish partake in? Just found out the facility is near where I live and Im trying to watch in person!
We don't currently have anything planned for motorsports yet, but we will have classes starting back up once the lockdown has been lifted. If we do compete in any motorsports this year, we'll make that schedule available to everyone.
i may be too late to the game but im looking to fit 15" wheels on my wrx as well. I was thinking i can swap in oem 2 pot calipers. What model of PFC Brakes are you using?
why do 15 plus cars dont allow left foot braking? the engine shuts down when it senses lfb:( and also abs cannot be remove, engine falls in safety mode and blocks rpm at 4000 , misss my 2013:(
I’m interested in rally. My question is “can any car be used In rally (I have a Nissan Maxima 2011 and been debating on making it a rally build later on)
We’ve been working on a few plans for it.😉 First, we need to get to the other side of the current situation. Once we do, you’ll see it back in the stages.
Any direction on shopping n buying rims, tires, or even brake setup for 2019 WRX? The stock 18” w low profile tires are murder and do Not accommodate the roads or certain driving styles.
To compete in WRC or ARC school is a must... But honestly we need local sanctions to get people rallying. You don't need a $100,000 WRXs or Fiestas to compete. Rallying was just stage racing with regular cars, raced by regular people. Not heavily sponsered Subarus, Mitsubishi, or Ford racing teams. You can rally a damn Kia Soul and it be fun. Lemons is growing because it's accessible. Diets roads are everywhere in America people
No, one does not need souped-up subie to rally, but safety modification alone costs a lot of money. Roll cage, racing harness (which implies bucket seats), and seat mounting are pretty much the bare minimum to pass FIA's Rally5 homologation (I can't really find Canadian CARS or ARA regulations. It's basically Production/Limited 2WD class), And skimping on those is the surefire way to become the next Toivonen/Cresto. Rally5 car has a target price of 40000 Euros for the car alone, nevermind other ancillary costs. That is a huge chunk of change for most people, and is well out of many people's budget. Racing is expensive, stage rallying even more so. Unless we start mass-producing roll cage and racing harness and fit them on stock road cars as standard loadout (which I highly support 🙃), it will continue to be expensive.
Always wanted to see a full breakdown of a rally car, thanks guys! Would love to know the detailing routine after a hard day rallying
No problem! That’s what we’re here for.

Nice video ! Does the handbrake disengage the rear wheels ? Or you have to clutch while you use it.
Yes, it disconnects the center differential to allow the rear wheels to move freely.

the lights are diode dynamics ss led bars and hood mount. the rest... well, you'll just have to see if the dirtfish crew will expose those secrets ;D
Great car, definitely powerful!
What 2L are you using? The JDM sti, US wrx...other? Love the set up and cant wait to Dirtfish again!
It's the older JDM STI engine.
Are the Lower Control Arms the OEM aluminum 15+ WRX STI ?
Yes, they are but we weld extra steel to them to give them a bit more strength.
What lsd are typically used for front, center and rear diffs? And what would you recommend for street/rallyx? 1way, 1.5way or 2 way?
We use the STI R4 plated front diff, OEM center diff and Cusco 1.5 way diff in the rear. The Motec ECU controls electronic portion of center differential.
Have you guys ever done a video of how to get into rally professionally?
That one is in the works!
I haven’t seen it asked yet but is there something special about the exhaust that makes it sound that way? I love it!
It has equal length headers installed.
great video!
Did you get a normal car off the showroom floor and tear it apart or did Subaru deliver, like, a car with no interior, no engine, etc?
haha cool, i'm in the shot from TdF 2018. wearing a DF hoodie too.
@dirtfish, i plan on buying a stock 2011 subaru wrx sti hatchback, what should i change/modify first to make it a rally spec car. Thank you .
Suspension, wheels and tires! But also a roll cage to keep you safe.
👍Looks good, I'll take it.
I want one of these they're like unbreakable
Have you done any modifications to the suspension arms or linkages?
We strengthen everything by welding on steel plates.

do you have more details on the suspension? is the car lifted at all? did the wheels/tire combo give you the lift you need?
How much was the project all together? Subaru and modifications.
I'm also curious. Probably around 100k not including the car itself lol. One day I'll build a rally car 💪

I need some of those mudflaps mounts!

Is it a similar spec like the car produced by JRM group UK..?
With the 34mm restrictor, it's about 290 horsepower to the wheels.

Hey guys, what modification have you done to change the double wishbone suspension geometry to a macpherson suspension ?
cheers
Love this, how much did the full conversion cost?
fuckign sick
What parts of the car are stock, if any? Is it just the chassis?
How do you source parts for a vf37 twin scroll? I have one and can't find anything thats not ebay trash.
Why haven’t you tried remounting the 02-07 RPG WRC wing for sidewall drag? Curious why the wing is left stock.
If this was an Open Class car, we would. There's only so much that we can change on this car because of the class that it's running in.
I thought EJ25 is a stronger motor?
Crazy to think they’re using a wrx 2lt and not the sti 2.4lt engine
