I love that the stage opens up with a section I recognise from Sweet Lamb that was accurately modeled in DIRT Rally 2.0. I also love the fact that the fastest car of the RAC was running a H-pattern manual. Bloody awesome.
@@albertoerbusti895 In 2019, during his third year competing, he finished eight rally's as 1st and three as 2nd, in the year in which he reached the age of 18 years, which is very young for such a palmares - what did you say?
@@wtcnl yeah dude, in r5. As i said, he is not ready for the top series and right now there are better drivers who are more suitable than him for wrc. The only thing that might give him a chance more than the others are the money he brings, but thats another story.
Magic! Great to see a manual gearbox and RWD. I don't care if newer things are quicker, this is the epitome of rallying. I remember dicking about on my mountainbike around Hafren in the eighties, on the fire road near the source of the Severn, and I came across a 7 series BMW. The driver asked me the way to Aberystwyth. There were two grannies in the back. I wonder if they ever got out.
I was stage side for both 'parts' and that was amazing to watch. The in-car though is another level of unbelievable!!! Brilliant driving. Brilliant footage. Clever video!
My first ever experience with rallying was a short stint in the navigators seat in a very fast Mitsubishi Lancer at night through the forests of NSW here in Australia and I was about Olivers age. I highly respect these guys flying along these roads at night as they have to have extremely sharp reflexes driving in the beam of those headlights at those speeds.
Holy Toledo. That guy has balls of titanium. To keep it going flat out when the consequences of going off are huge takes massive skill. Watching his feet on the pedals was a revelation as well. Such car control -luckily we can't feel the G forces as well!
I've driven the same piece of road for over 30 years in every possible condition. I wouldn't attack that road at night this hard. 10000% commitment!!!! When both your parents are brilliant rally drivers........ 🐺🐺🐺🐺
my God, incredible video. My son and I just watched this and kept groaning on the hard turns like we were going to fall off the track. So visceral. Love it!!!
Thanks Oliver, I love to see these young guys driving these old schools cars. Reminds me of Ari at his peak. I hope your watching Ari, this is great entertainment.
F*****g hell, WOW show me any Motorsport thats as exciting and skillful as this. Been a rally fan since watching the original RAC rally in the forestry of my village of Resolven in South Wales since 1981, brings back soo many memories of Michelle Mouton ( massive crush) Hannu Mikola and the like threading their beasts through the Welsh forests.
I would say that 1:35 was a serious code brown moment, but honestly, the entire stage was a serious code brown moment. The car control, bravery, and commitment at every corner was awesome to see. You gotta respect the hell out of the co drivers - I actually think they have the harder job out of the two!
This should be the final round of the WRC, the Roger Albert Clark Historic Rally. All the teams and drivers switching to historic cars (forget brand commitments, most would use Escorts) for this one event. It would be amazing to see.
Yeeeahh, what a drive! The guy is handling this monster very well. The tachometer occasionally drops into the 9000's, the engine roars, the rear end slaps, shakes, vibrates BUT all under control, just like the good old days. Very talented.
An incarnation of Ari Vatenen.. Great to watch.. no sequential gearbox and fancy handbrakes with 4wd and power steering and electronic this and that..pure driving skill
@1:26 through the gates, flat up to fast right. Full opposite lock on the apex, car goes light, throttle bent to the floor.......you try it at that speed!
Amazing. Great driving in a car with H gearbox, three pedals, rear wheel drive for a kid who born with secuential, 4 wd, etc. etc... Fantastic stage. Remeber me other times, better times in rallys.
probably one of the best Rally videos I 've ever watched. Amazing
My thoughts exactly! Amazing!
まさに最高のドライビング👍️
Incredible skill demonstrated here. Impressive to watch. Do wish we had the co-driver audio but still a fantastic watch!
ドライバーテクニックが凄い🍀
I love the audio also.
Its pappa Solberg who is co-driver 👍

Best 17 mins of TV i have seen since 1985!
This kid deserves a place on the big category!!!! BRING HIM BACK !!!!!
Ci ha già provato😢
Lindholm or Pajari deserves a place on the top category not Solberg😂
nah if they tried already and then he went back there is a reason. They need to explain him that to win a rally you need to finish the event first.

A dogleg manual gearbox in an escort being driven to within an inch of its life! Superb.
That camera angle with the wheel, brakes and everything all visable at once is great!
Awesome, best Rally footage ever. Oliver deserves a Rally1 drive. Thanks DF.
I was stage side for both 'parts' and that was amazing to watch. The in-car though is another level of unbelievable!!!
Brilliant driving.
Brilliant footage.
Clever video!
Amazing driving! By far my favorite driver!
Bloody quick! An exhilarating 17 minutes. What a driver! On par with the flying Finns of old.
Top job👍❤️!
Great driver! It's great that you can see his excellent footwork on the pedals in the video!
One of the coolest onboards I've ever seen!
Its nice to watch one of these rally onboard videos without an FOV so wide I can see the back of my eyeballs
Driving dad's Ford Escort for the first time and in a demanding competition, Oliver shows talent and flair for different types of rally cars. 😎👍
This is right up there with the onboard greats, just behind Craig Breen in his 6R4 up Molls Gap.. ❤
This is art.
Awesome how the 1’st section was in dirt rally. I love thrashing it in Wales in my mk2. Well done Mr Solberg

They really need to bring the RAC back to the WRC, imagine the Rally 1 cars on this terrain! 😮
And back in the day they raced these stages at night without pacenotes. 🏆
RAC in Midlands would be awesome.
WRC cars have run through Sweetlamb, Hafren and many, many welsh forests for absolutely years. It just needs bringing back now.
@@sirdigbyminge1639 thats insane lmao
Unbelievable Oliver and god footwork 😂👍👍
What a talent
Amazing in every way
Wow, so smooth and fluent!
Amazing. He's flogging the hell out of the thing!!!
Great onboard quality!!!
He's fantastic

Thanks for bringing this to us. Fascinating to watch his footwork . 👌

I am so glad you mentioned his mother. She was very fast. And not to forget both his grandfathers and his uncle.
my God, incredible video. My son and I just watched this and kept groaning on the hard turns like we were going to fall off the track. So visceral. Love it!!!
Such a great vid, always keeping the hands tidy through all of the turns. He is just so so good!
Mind blowing
Bloody hell that was awesome.
amazing drive❤🎉
This is awesome.
Thanks Oliver, I love to see these young guys driving these old schools cars. Reminds me of Ari at his peak. I hope your watching Ari, this is great entertainment.
Woww what a rollercoaster stage. Fantastic event, fantastic video and coverage and fantastic driver.
Outstanding. Probably one of the best in cars I've seen.
Very peaceful. Please keep uploading.
Amazing! Very, very talented driver!👍👍👍😎
thanks for sharing your journey, it’s incredibly inspiring! ️
huge thankyou to everyone responsible for this upload. Great video! 17 minutes later and I'm sweating bullets.
Best in car video i ever seen
Oliver is a class WRC driver & deserves a Rally1 seat.....only thing that might be in his way this year could be a sponsorship clash!
Fantastic stuff!
love it!!
This is insane!

They can't, this is top level skill, road drives only dream of
Incredible skills!
This kid is a savage!!!! What a machine!
Great drive. I really like that right over crest at 1:36.
Love those roads!!❤❤
Totally awesome! These guys are pros! LIKE!
Nuts that all these years later that nothing can beat a good hand and a mk2 escort.
Respect!!!
Let's go!!

Oliver is so good I know he is going to be world rally champion one day
Wow wow wow, one of the best vids, well done DF
Perfect angle to capture everything. Gutted for him that he never made it to the end. He drives that car very well 👌
I remember this stage on Dirt Rally 2.0 but he went the other way on the second hairpin. Great driving from Solberg.
Yeeeahh, what a drive! The guy is handling this monster very well. The tachometer occasionally drops into the 9000's, the engine roars, the rear end slaps, shakes, vibrates BUT all under control, just like the good old days. Very talented.
Well done Oliver🔥
Amazing video and audio! That switch to night mode though? Excellent!❤
Beautiful!!!
Todo el tiempo adelantado al sentido de la curva y deslizándose...un bárbaro...excelente coordinación...!!!
Masterclass 👏👏👌
Loved every second of this! Proper driving!
Fantastic!
Revving up to 9000 with ease, great tuning, great driving, great skills all around.
Perfect spot on driving!
Wow!
Amazing skill n view
Exceptional stuff!

that jump at 1:37 would make me need a fresh pair of pants WOW
Absolutely mesmerising 😀👍
Imagine if top level WRC was RWD only.😊
Kudos for that extremely smooth transition between day and night.
Great graphics!
Come on Malcolm, give this super talented young man a rally 1 car for next year, & back him properly
That's the video I'm waited for!
Watch he’s Pedal work & appreciate the artistry, wow👌🏽👏🏽
Magistral
This is tremendous
@1:26 through the gates, flat up to fast right. Full opposite lock on the apex, car goes light, throttle bent to the floor.......you try it at that speed!
It's an impressive section! You can watch him drive that section over and over in our testing video: ua-cam.com/video/s-B158-MfB8/v-deo.html
i'll certainly pass on trying it myself 😂
Absolutely beautiful immaculate driving 👌 it's like an elegant dance
Mk 2 escort, a solberg driving, 👌👌👌🏁🏁🏁
I think you’re ready for WRC top spot again you got this Oliver
Great stuff
holy hell that's astounding
what a Legendary car.
And special in yours, the sound, the cockpit.....awesome. This time, cars were really cars, like my Golf 1 Gti Pirelli 1,8 112HP
What a beast🔥💪🏼
All the best rally drivers have hoofed it in an escort. The carb induction roar brings back memories of watching Ari .
Clean,dedicated, skill. Smooth is fast
Amazing. Great driving in a car with H gearbox, three pedals, rear wheel drive for a kid who born with secuential, 4 wd, etc. etc... Fantastic stage. Remeber me other times, better times in rallys.
Impressionante.
It's nice seeing clutch kicking in action
