This is one of my favorite childhood desserts. The only thing missing is a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg on the top when serving. Thank you for bringing rice pudding back to the front of my mind, now I have to make some.
I was looking for a stove top rice pudding recipe and came across yours. I’ve tried the recipe this evening and it worked very well. Much quicker than oven baked recipes and just as tasty. Thank you for the recipe and video. Best wishes. John.
i found you channel yesterday watched you make rice pudding, i made it this afternoon, i dis put cinnamon and a little nutmeg that your pudding is absolutely wonderful I'm a 71 year old woman and have looked half of my life for a good rice pudding on the stove and yours tops them all thanks Jim you're special

Jim, I made this recipe last night (at the request of my husband). Just wanted to thank you for a terrific recipe, it was delicious. The only thing I did different is I added about a tsp. of ground cinnamon (we love cinnamon).
Most recipes were more basic until people began to tweak them. I say if one can improve on the basic, more power to them. I take recipes much like road maps, they are simply suggestions.

I make rice pudding a lot and I do it more like Sweetysalado on UA-cam where you add cinnamon sticks to the water and rice, as well as soak the raisins in brandy or rum. Then when cooled fold in homemade whipped cream. Jim's recipe is one that anyone can and should make since its so easy.
I cooked this a few minutes ago. It turned out ok , but I noticed I had to keep stirring every few minutes because it was starting to burn after I added the milk. In fact I had to change pots! It also was a bit to creamy for me, but eatable. I hope it will thicken up by tomorrow after sitting in the fridge over night. This is the second recipe I have tried on here. The first had me cook the rice in milk , not water. Boy, you talk about stirring every 3 minutes !! Lol It almost burned and the rice wasn't done. But on here there are many different recipes for rice pudding ! But I like this one much better then the first one I tried! Something plain and simple ! Thanks Jim 😉 HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🦃

Love rice pudding,I always add a little nut meg & sum vanilla ice cream with the milk when adding it to the cooked rice also at the end make up sum custard paste to thicken but never add raisins
My grandma made hers on the stove, gave me her recipe twice but no directions lol. I tried it a few different times but it never came out. Now I can try it your way! My only problem is she said 1 egg in one recipe and 1 egg yolk in the other.......did you use a whole egg? I'm craving rice pudding now! Thank you for sharing this video!
Thanks for this recipe, Jim. I would add some cinnamon and maybe some nutmeg. Cinnamon is supposed to be good in helping prevent inflammation and I have had rice pudding with cinnamon before. This pudding looks great!

2cups of water
1 cup of rice
1/2cup of sugar
2 cups milk
1 egg in milk
Cinnamon vanilla raisin (orange zest maybe)

My Mom made that way. We had wood stove and shed put a dab of butter on slices of bread in the over to eat with it. Carb overload but good.

I'll eat rice pudding but it's not a favorite. I wonder if you could use a can of sweetened condensed milk in place of the milk and sugar?
Never tried that but I'll bet that Eagle Brand Milk would be far too thick and sweet.
