It would be better for the people on the ground to attack the factory instead of the starfighters, and also in EAW, except for maybe the Yoden mod or faction specific anti ground bombers, starfighters like the TIE Defender can only operate and be manufactured in space stations, not ground bases! So it would make the attack illogical in EAW.

TheDuskLycanroc not sure if you watched the video or not, but... they did die. All of them just get shot down. It’s an absolute victory for the Empire.
Desperation, there was never going to be a better time to hit the target and if the tie defender entered full production it would mean the loss of the rebel's edge in the starfighter department
Pink GuAli I wanna say those are early versions of the x wing and not the original t-65 we know and love. Notice how far up the S foils go and how sendula is able fire while they are closed as well. On top of that, the only fire mode they all use is quad fire when the originals use single fire. But then again, that could just be rebels being dumb as usual.
We see them using single fire mode during this battle, sorry man. They just fucked up the sounds and ended up using the ones from the Ghost for some reason. I liked Rebels but this battle was a bit weird.

Justin Lozada there may have been more fatalities on the Empires side. When put into perspective though, the empire barely lost anything. The Empire can easily replace everything they lost here because of how big the Empire is, while for the Rebels, they lost a lot of their supplies. This battle was definitely more costly for the Rebels than for the Empire.

Thets the most annoying part of the show. Thrawn constantly gets out played by random force creatures as soon as he is on the werge of total victory. They at least made Thrawn somewhat compatent. Every other imperial is dreadfully incompatent to the point of it being a parody. Besides that most rebel success are exaguretad to a comical extent. This clip has a very good example of that. Hera takes down an enemy fighter ace and his deadly prototype tie fighter. This a great victory on its own but is it enough for this show? Nop. The fighter crashes into a light cruiser which then crashes into an ISD crippling it and destroying the smaller ship. Does it matter to Thrawn that he just lost those ships? Nope since the empire has infinite reinforcmets. Does it matter to the rebellion that they crippled that ISD? Nope since the rebellion has infinite plot armour and has been taking out ISDs left and right. So the threat and menace an ISD poses i greatly cheapened for no narrative reason.

The fleet blockading Lothal should've thrown a wall of turbolaser fire towards the Rebel ships coming out of hyperspace. Instead the ISDs do almost nothing the entire time. All they do is hover there, send out a few TIE fighters and crash into each other due to the packed formation. Sorry, but it doesn't build tension when you kill off armies of redshirts and let the main characters survive impossible odds. Hera is an ace pilot, but even an ace can't do anything when outnumbered 20:1 or more.
In WW2 battleships shot down attacking aircraft (dive- and torpedobombers) with their massive main guns. The key was firing into their flightpath. The Rebels dropped out of hyperspace and charged the blockade from one direction. All ISDs firing their guns in that direction would've wiped the entire attack force out in seconds. But Hera is wearing plot armor, so no... ;-) And I don't think ammo is really a problem in Star Wars.
Well considering a turbo laser with the same yield-age to take out fucking capital ships only disables an X-Wing's shields, what do you expect them to do?
If you listen VERY closely the original X-Wing blaster FX is in there (Hera doing her special move is the best section to listen close.) The A-Wings in this show also used the stock sound as-is. Why they went with the Ghost's weapon FX I have no idea, but it definitely doesn't have the meat dynamically.
They obviosuly wanted to avoid friendly fire so tuned the turbolasers as lowest power possible, still not very effective at point defense, the turrets are heavy, those eight barrelled turrets are on ISD IIs, the ones suited for orbital and ship to ship bombardment, but at the cost of effective point defense turrets, this is the major difference between ISD Is and ISD IIs.
Quo Niam Plus, it was only one beam (Porkins was hit by two beams, as the towers of the Death Star have dual cannons) and even still it completely annihilated the ship's shields from almost full to nothing.

4 роки тому+86
Maybe you dont know that Imperial training has less quality Because the Empire cares about numbers, not skills or quality
@ TIE Pilots recieve a lot of training. The reason why they fail is the expendable design of their ships. The objective of a TIE is to kill the enemy not defend yourself. If every TIE had sheilds, the Rebellion would be done for.

TIE training is decent but not at the level that Rebels normally put their pilots through./ Luke getting instant access to a fighter was unusual. Also, TIE pilots typically died in an average of their first 5 missions. It was only afterward that they started getting enough experience to be dangerous.
Considering Thrawn is a master tactician, you would think he could come up with a better plan to screen a small batch of fighters than just "deploy in a defensive formation".

Thats why I dont like Mothma, she sent less than a full squadron to destroy a factory that if it stayed online, would have lead to the destruction of the entire rebellion. She was afraid to fight in a war.
You do realize factories are not the places where pilots get their ships, right? They're packed up and sent to wherever the deployment zone is, where they will be united with pilots either already on station or fresh from the academy. It's not like the Empire has fresh TIE pilots stationed outside their factories, kicking rocks and arm wrestling, just waiting for a TIE to plop off the assembly line for them to jump into... Sure, there are probably loads of TIE fighters there, but not crewed ones. Those TIEs were stationed on Lothal for the purpose of this battle, they wouldn't have been there normally. Or they might have been, but likely defending other settlements, and pooled in to defend the factory at this point in time.

@GrantKP the fact that a X-Wing and Tie Defender both tanked a shot from a Star Destroyer Quad Turbolaser (used for taking down Capital Ships) they should have both just been dead, unfortunately plot armor saves the day I guess.

24 fighters breach a heavy blockade, take down dozens of fighters, a corvette and a ISD, then defeated by other few dozens of fighters, and some wonder why people complain of this show
Star Destroyers are NOT made to fight fighters, especially X-Wings. They are made to fight capital ships. Same with the Light Cruisers. They were solely dependent on the TIE Fighters to keep the X-Wings out, and we all know that X-Wings are FAR superior to TIE Fighters. And all it did was take out the command tower of the ISD. The secondary bridge is located in the heart of the ship, near the engine room and core. If it got control of the ISD in time, it may have lived to fight another day, but it was disabled from the fight. The secondary bridge only has power over engines and life support mostly. A whole fleet at Scarif was not needed, since 1) more ships means more people which means easier way for Rebel agents to sneak in and leaks to form 2) it was also a secret construction yard, so moving a massive fleet there would not only compromise other sectors, but also beg the question of why the Empire needed a fleet so large there in the first place. Thrawn knew that his blockade wasn't perfect, and that no matter what, he'll have at least one incompetent man or woman in the fleet that will make a costly mistake that could cause him the battle. He has a massive group of TIE Fighters on stand by just for that contingency, and probably has a solution in case that fails, and probably a solution for that failure.
Lol, Thrawn want to trap them in the second wave. It was planed that they break through the space blockade to finish them in the atmosphere. The ISD was only "luck" because the defender pilot (don't know his name actually) didn't follow his orders. But OK, your opinion. See Star Trek Discovery and you will say Rebels is better than that.
Those Y-Wings that got killed by the second wave of TIE Fighters gave their lives so Rebels could have a shot at ridding itself of excessive plot armor.
not needed, Lothal is still a backwater plant even with the factory on it. the shield on scarif covered the empires most high classified data. spending the resources of a shield like that on lothal would be a major waste when you can just build more star destroyers to make a bigger blockade
Then a theater shield like the Rebels used at Hoth. It is inconceivable an important Imperial installation like that would not only have a theater shield, but also heavy turbolaser and ion cannon emplacements, as well as point defense laser cannons and concussion missile launchers, and a garrison of fighter squadrons. Aspiring Marauder The profanity was a bit unnecessary. First off, the dreamers/partisans in no way solely focused on military targets. How about the partisan strike on that world close to Naboo where they targeted civilians or the dreamers attack on those children touring a factory which was stopped by Seyn Marana, an Imperial Agent. Mon Mothma's rebellion served with Saw Garrera on multiple occasions' but officially denounced him so he could do the dirtier work. In the mean time, the mainstream rebellion assassinated political figures that opposed them, uses child soldiers, sabotaged public infrastructure such as seen in "Inferno Squad" in which a public tram is sabotaged by rebels killing multiple civilians, bombings of public events, torture and execution of POWs, attacks on free trade organizations, cannibalism of the dead and desecration of their bodies, and the execution of one of the Empire's more humane admirals, Grand Admiral Osvald Teshik for non existing war crimes. The Empire replaced a corrupt Republic solely focused on profiteering rather than peace and order. The Empire brought this stability. It was these Rebel terrorists that screwed it all up. Even the New Republic was just as corrupt with blackmail, bribery, and throwing in with the First Order for a profit. The Empire is peace, security, and order.
Aspiring Marauder You're mother didnt teach you proper manners, I'm guessing. We're having a political debate. Not a bitch fest for children. So take a deep breath and relax. The Empire has been constantly at war with crime organizations, pushing them back to the literal edge of the galaxy. This can be shown by the practical dissolution of the Black Sun post formation of the Galactic Empire. The Empire's dealings with criminals as seen in "Inferno Squad" was basically to have snitches to rat out on the real targets. Life was better under the Empire than it was the Republic to be fair. The Empire changed the galaxy from a failed democracy that left civilians in the dark while favoring private corporations. Watch The Clone Wars and you'll see what I mean. Civilians were constantly getting screwed over by a selfish and ignorant Senate. I agree that the Imperial Military should be less focused on infighting, but in the end, it is skill that ensures progression, not birthright as can be seen with an outsider such as Thrawn. The Sithnn as can be seen in A New Hope, had no effect on the galaxy. People were free to practice their own religions so long as they didnt interfere with the workings of society. The Protectors of the Whills were allowed in Jedha city unmolested by the Empire. Religious Tolerance wins the day once again. Also, you hypocrite, the Chiss Ascendancy that you describe is Legends material. The New Canon Chiss Ascendancy is now very unknown once again. Damn. How has are argument come to this? Look. It's late where I am. I'm getting tired. Can we just agree that the Empire is good, the Rebels are terrorists and be done with this? And if we go into Legends, I can justify all of the Empire with 2 words. Yuzhan Vong.

They did EXCEPTIONALLY well.
I remember in the original trilogy when tie fighters were actually a threat. In a new hope, Luke is said to be the best pilot in the outer rim territories, but during the death star assault he couldn't get a tie fighter of his back and needed wedge's help. But here it's like anything short of an ace pilot in a tie defender is no match. The continued lack of quality in show has me worried for the future of star wars.
Worried for the future? TIE Fighters have been inferior to X-Wings forever, in both Legends and Canon. Luke couldn’t get a TIE off his back in ANH because: 1) It was his first time flying an X-Wing. 2) It was his first combat flight. 3) Maneuverability is one of the only aspects in which the TIE/LN is superior to an X-Wing 4) In Legends, the TIE pilot was part of Darth Vader’s elite squadron, Black Squadron. 5) In Canon, the TIE pilot was part of Sigma Squadron, which included highly-skilled and efficient pilots such as Iden Versio. In Legends, the only TIE models equal to an X-Wing were such high-end models as the Advanced X1, Defender, and Avenger.
So I guess here every tie pilot except commander scares is completely incompetent? Even if all of them had below average skill (which would be odd as this is Thrawn's fleet) the rebels should have been hopelessly out numbered. As you probably know Imperial Star Destroyers can hold up to 72 tie fighters each (of witch there are at least seven here), and in this case there are also transports that are launching addition fighters, (I count nine) all with four tie fighters each. That's a maximum of 540 tie fighters. Even if that number is exaggerated, that's over one and a half dozen tie fighters for each x-wing and y-wing. The rebel pilots may be skilled but doesn't mean they can engage ties while evading fire from other fighters. (Edit) And it may be true that the tie pilots on the death star were elite, but that doesn't mean that all other pilots in the Empire just learned how to fly.
They may of had that many but they clearly did not deploy tens of thousands of tie fighters at the battle of Yavin. As you can see in the movie and in the book inferno squad, they are far too confident to accept that there is actual danger from the rebel ships, so they only deploy a few squadrons. And I'm sure there's a legends explanation too.
That's why Thrawn is working so hard to get the empire to use the TIE Defenders. I mean standard TIE Fighters are weak as hell compared to X-Wings, this is established fact they are more like A Wings and even then A Wings are still better. TIE Defenders on the other hand are TIE Fighters on crack, they have shields (unlike standard TIE's), they have a torpedo system, they are faster, they have better cannon's, and they are equipped with a hyperdrive. TIE Defenders are so good that they have been confirmed better than X-Wings and Pablo Hidalgo said that if the empire had chosen to use TIE Defenders they would have won the Galactic Civil War.

They did at least once fucked it up at Paris Bourget airshow back in the 90's. They kept going up and stalled the aircraft. Fortunately, the pilot(s) pulled the ejection handle in time and survived.
@4:11 ... The Octuple Barbette Turbolaser battery in the immediate foreground has a model error. The right-side (from its perspective) quad of barrels is missing a barrel.

The Empire would never let one of their pilots put special colorful markings on their craft. Antithetical to the anti-individualist philosophy of the Imperial military
People have a problem with this battle that involves fighters rushing star destroyers but are completely fine with the same exact tactics against the first death star
It's more the fact that the Star Destoyers or even Arquitens aren't using their point defense cannons AT ALL. Whats the point of them being there if not to support their fighter wings. I can understand the Star Destroyers not doing anything, but Arquitens are designed to kill fighters. They aren't serving their role at all.
What’s everyone complaining about? This was like the best six minutes of the series! Except for the fact that it would never have worked. But it was still a groundbreaking action scene for a show like Rebels.
Whoa now. I don't remember saying realistic, I just said enjoyable. And if you're wondering, those two things are completely disconnected. Star Wars is one of the most unrealistic franchises out there, frequently forgetting the basic laws of physics in space, such as there is no up or down or even that there is no gravity, but at the same time it's arguably the best franchise in modern history. I was simply able to suspend reality in order to enjoy the scene. And on that subject, I don't remember saying this is better than Clone Wars. I would. NEVER. Say anything so treasonous to a TV show so good it's better than some of the movies. A kid's show that's not afraid to get dark for the sake of older viewers. A show that doesn't let the fact that kids are watching get in the way of telling a good story, with good dialogue and character development, all conveyed through brilliant animation. This show on the other hand, not only looks plastic, but the storytelling is just as lifeless. The voice actors do a good job with what they're given, but too often they're not given anything. There are good episodes, like the Season 2 finale, but even those are bogged down with ridiculous childish antics like helicopter blades. So when I say this is the best six minutes of the show, I don't mean it's a particularly GOOD six minutes. I don't mean it's a realistic six minutes, and I don't mean that it's not the most forgettable battle in Star Wars. I just meant that, purely from an action standpoint, the action felt more real than most of the circus acts the show has given us so far, which in my mind is a step in the right direction. Also I find it funny how anyone who likes Disney or EA is called a pawn or a sheep, when in the toxic environment of the Internet it takes more guts and original thought to support said companies (and I DO NOT support EA btw).
As someone who has seen the badassery of the Clone Wars Micro Series, The Clone Wars TV Show, and Episodes 3 and 6, this battle looks like dog shit. It literally looks like just 2 fighters are trying to kill everyone else. Episodes 1, 4, and 7 had better space battles than this, even though their space battles weren’t large in scale.
Captain Gilad Pellaeon I believe. He was Thrawn's 2ic in the original Thrawn storyline but didn't get much attention this time round. One other thing they said in that video there were 24 craft, I only saw 12.
Imagine being an Imperial and watching a dozens X-Wings take out a squadron of Tie Fighters, a light frigate and a star destroyer Time for an early retirement
Okay so let me straighten this all out. Hera takes out an advanced prototype TIE Defender flown by an ace pilot. The TIE Defender then crashed into a light imperial cruiser. The damaged cruiser then sheared through the command deck of a star destroyer, rendering it inoperable and unfit for battle. By the transit of property, Hera took out a TIE Defender, a cruiser, and a star destroyer with one shot. Hera Syndulla is thusly the greatest combat pilot in the Star Wars canon.

Justin Lozada there may have been more fatalities on the Empires side. When put into perspective though, the empire barely lost anything.

Corristo89 why waste ammo to do a job smaller ships can get easily. And it’s not as easy to hit small ships going super fast
Corristo89 and the death star should have sent every fighter it had
Well considering a turbo laser with the same yield-age to take out fucking capital ships only disables an X-Wing's shields, what do you expect them to do?
Corristo89 OH MAN THERE ERE DESTROYED LATER ANYWAY.
Why are the X-Wing firing sounds not the iconic noise, but instead the "blocky" type sound that the Ghost uses?
Austin Jones idk, it's retarded
it really bothers me
Bugs me as well, the "blocky" SFX sounds way weaker than traditional X-Wing laser cannon fire.
BECAUSE THIS IS NOT CANON! IT'S FAN FICTION! XD
But a direct turbolaser hit doesn’t kill an x-wing?!? *shaking my head*

Vader was the only true major threat tbh.
I am Alive It would've made sense if we're talking about 100 starfighters or so. Maybe with a couple of blockade runners and frigates.
He has a massive group of TIE Fighters on stand by just for that contingency, and probably has a solution in case that fails, and probably a solution for that failure.

not needed, Lothal is still a backwater plant even with the factory on it. the shield on scarif covered the empires most high classified data. spending the resources of a shield like that on lothal would be a major waste when you can just build more star destroyers to make a bigger blockade
Also, let's not forget that these things probably cost a lot of credits.
Aspiring Marauder Read "Inferno Squad". I dont have time to list the countless atrocities of the alliance to restore the republic.

@@odd-ov4gf Because Thrawn allowed them to. It's his bait trap.
@@memecliparchives2254 There's no need for a trap.
Credit where it's due, the only times Thrawn loses in this show are due to either insubordination or space whale deus ex machinas.
Luke couldn’t get a TIE off his back in ANH because:
1) It was his first time flying an X-Wing.
2) It was his first combat flight.
3) Maneuverability is one of the only aspects in which the TIE/LN is superior to an X-Wing
4) In Legends, the TIE pilot was part of Darth Vader’s elite squadron, Black Squadron.
(Edit) And it may be true that the tie pilots on the death star were elite, but that doesn't mean that all other pilots in the Empire just learned how to fly.
they all get destroyed at the end by a bunch of tie fighters so...why the complains?
5:07 To show you the power of an Imperial light cruiser, I sawed this boat in half!
Did u repair it with only flex tape tho?
@@Sir_Raid3n Yep!
0:10 Sir, our caps prevent us from seeing anything. May we take them off or be blown to bits like the imperial protocol dictates?
Herra took out an ace Imperial TIE pilot, a light cruiser and a Star Destroyer in a single shot. Damn.
Yeah, that's how she do me a favour
A direct, i repeat, *direct* hit feom a freaking ISD turbolaser. And all it does is fut off her power like an ion blast.
Plot armor truly is the thickest...

There is no reason the rebels should have lasted beyond a minute in this battle.
when you auto-resolve a battle in empire at war
Good Good, Rebels dropping like flies.
For once the plot armor was weak with this one
@@alpinewolf7751 no it was still strong
I know that Star Wars Rebels usually gets a bad rap, but at least they made the TIE Defender and Thrawn canon…
Apparently the main character’s x-wing is the only one that has shields and can survive a big ass turbolaser shot, while the rest get literally one tapped
It's called "plot armor" 😜
Hera’s X-Wing _and_ a Tie Defender really just tanked a blast from a freaking turbo laser cannon.
_Aight._
I've seen a whole bunch of arguments about how powerful those lasers are, like 4K Czar Bombs worth, and I just point at this scene and say "you sure about that?"
0:38
I waited SO LONG to hear that line again...
Hera pulled Pugachev's Cobra, I'd recognize that move anywhere.
DEEPFOXJUDE It's a military aerobatic maneuver.
DEEPFOXJUDE My pleasure.
The kind of maneuver Russian kept failing to od in airshows, resulting in a MIG crash several times...
Quo Niam How so?
They did at least once fucked it up at Paris Bourget airshow back in the 90's. They kept going up and stalled the aircraft. Fortunately, the pilot(s) pulled the ejection handle in time and survived.
"They have the numbers but we got skill."
Tell that to every Rebel pilot that died.
The pilot who said that is among the rebel pilots who died. Her death is at 2:56-2:57
1:30 They might have numbers but we have skill *dies immediately*
This reminds me of how much I love Rebels, gotta rewatch it sometime
this reminds me of how much i hate rebels and the fucking degree of plot armour
@4:11 ... The Octuple Barbette Turbolaser battery in the immediate foreground has a model error. The right-side (from its perspective) quad of barrels is missing a barrel.

"Let me show you a little trick I learned!"
Lieutenant Joe “Lightning” Little, Red Tails
“Lightning, when are you going to learn this is not a game.” - “Easy” Julian
I’m surprised nobody reference Hera’s kill maneuver to Red Tails.
Can we just appreciate Hera's shot at 3:00? Seriously, it's not unfeasible, considering he tight formation, but man, is that really well done.
Its not 3:00, its at 3:04….
Imagine if this show actually portrayed how insanely powerful octuple turbo lasers are
Clone Wars made Munificents look weak too
"They might have numbers but we got skill". You mean they might have numbers but we got plot armor
They've got shields
One of favourite star wars rebels scene by far
I never imagine the X-Wing can firing with foils closed.
The Empire would never let one of their pilots put special colorful markings on their craft. Antithetical to the anti-individualist philosophy of the Imperial military
Bennett Harnisch when you're under thrawn's command you can put paint jobs.
Grand Inquisitor Sug The Dark Clone of Gus no its becuse its still a prototype ship
imperial trooper or it's because the craft is affiliated with Skerris. He does have yellow stripes on his flight uniform.
Grand Inquisitor Sug The Dark Clone of Gus oh ok my bad
Thrawn is cool tho. He also will rather let you learn from your mistakes rather than kill you.
I love how Skerris refuses to get out of the way so Thrawn just lets him get killed
Thrawn did warn him to break off his pursuit, but he didn't listen, too focused on shooting Hera.
"Lock S-Foiles in attack position"
cries in Y Wing
People have a problem with this battle that involves fighters rushing star destroyers but are completely fine with the same exact tactics against the first death star
It's more the fact that the Star Destoyers or even Arquitens aren't using their point defense cannons AT ALL. Whats the point of them being there if not to support their fighter wings. I can understand the Star Destroyers not doing anything, but Arquitens are designed to kill fighters. They aren't serving their role at all.
Everyone talking about plot armour meanwhile rex and other named clones constantly survive battles of impossible odds

Also I find it funny how anyone who likes Disney or EA is called a pawn or a sheep, when in the toxic environment of the Internet it takes more guts and original thought to support said companies (and I DO NOT support EA btw).
just saying the 'physics' that you say are ignored have perfect explainations. like repulser lift generators
Aquarius Mandolin it’s fucking Star Wars! It’s not supposed to be realistic and ITS ALWAYS HAD PLOT ARMOR SINCE 1977!
Darth Vader the 12 Y wings against grevios ship were elite piolets and they still got shot down (8) and the jedi nearly died
Imagine if the CIS remaining army shows up to help.
For an army that specializes in winning through sheer numbers, there was a surprising lack of numbers
love how the show forgot how X Wing's cannons sounded, but made sure the TIEs were just fine

Who is THAT? An imperial officer with an actual face, but NO NAME?
UNHEARD OF!
Captain Gilad Pellaeon I believe. He was Thrawn's 2ic in the original Thrawn storyline but didn't get much attention this time round.

Certainly felt like flying in squadrons
“They may have numbers but we have skill” A few moments later... 5:47
Me talking to my friends how the enemy team took a control point in Battlefront: 3:12
Clayton Edwards well like Luke destroyed a whole Death Star so Hera is second

He used the force though. Also if you're going to add force sensitives, then Anakin is the best.
And Gimli says, “That still only counts as one!”.
I dunno..it was a bit too much for me XD
The weird officer mentions “they hit the magazine.”
This chain reaction shouldn’t have happened, the Arquitens would get hit, and explode on the spot.
I could watch this video over and over again. Cuz it's Star Wars😍
Judging by that sound effect at 0:11, I'd be more worried about the Mandalorian explosive about to go off in the bridge.

If you think about it, the rebel alliance is protected by plot armor, 20 some star destroyers can stop 20 x wings and bombers with admiral Thrawn.
