Looking back at the battle of Ryloth, it really is remarkable how the Republic saw 1 lucrehulk and 2 munificents and thought "Yeah this is totally the entire CIS planetary blockade"
Well although the lucrehulk is a carrier type it does have pretty heavy firepower and the munificents have two long range weapon on the front section which is hard for venator to punch through and by the time it reach the firing range of the venator that republic fleet might have already down to at least 2 venator survived while one been destroyed by the long range from munificents.not to include that the fighter and bomber from the lucrehulk have been launched
The clone wars perfectly explains how you can feel like your struggles in life are so real, so dramatic, but the outcome was predetermined by a higher power.
I wish we got to see more of the pelta class medical frigate, it was a perfectly designed ship, it could carry fighters (as we saw in rebels), i could carry troops into battle (it has landing gear), and it could treat injured clones. :)
Gotta admit, was NOT a fan of the Clone Wars movie when it came out back in the day. But when I decided to try this show for the heck of it, it was this scene at 0:00 that made me go "You know, maybe I'll give this series a serious chance."
I remember watching the Clone Wars movie in the Cinema, and then this very first episode air on Television for the first time. I remember waiting in frustration as it aired about 1 hour late hahaha
Fun Fact: The movie wasn’t even supposed to be a movie. It was supposed to be a two-to-three episode arc in season 1, but decisions by upper management forced the show makers to create something that could be showcased in theaters ahead of the show’s TV debut. The Asoka debut and the Jabba’s kid episodes were chosen because they were the only episodes far ahead enough in production that could be used and completed in time for the theatrical release.
The first one works because they were decoys for the one Yoda's squad was in The second one is pretty cute since the CIS starships are droids themselves
The Battle of Bothawui (the one right after the Malevolence sequence) is one of my favorite space battles of all time. Similar to the first battle in this video ships aren’t treated as set pieces which tends to happen far too often. They instead are treated as space ships, that can move. The way it’s shot feels very dynamic as well. Oh and the Battle of Quell (the atmospheric one) as well, like man there’s so much good stuff here.
If you have to move your ships, it means you are at a tactical disadvantage. Stationary forces always have an advantage over mobile forces unless the Mobile forces have much greater numbers or firepower. Empire at War has proved this to me time and again.
2:14. Piloted by the same guys who run in a straight line from dinosaurs. Literally could have adjusted their flight path by 1-degree and been smooth sailing from there!
Not when your hyperdrive is calculating a path, or you are flying through a field of debris. That and the fact that the ion blast far larger than it looks.
You know what would be terrifying? We know how the Empire built its Super-Weapon the Death Star, with enough power to destroy entire planets... But with that amount of resources and funds available, what if instead of 1 or 2 Death Stars, the Empire invested in several fleets of Malevolence-type ships?
Thrawn basically said that with all those resources if they’d made star destroyers and tie defenders instead they’d have controlled the galaxy without trouble.
This is when Star Wars The Clone Wars was fantastic in the classic CN, I remember watching all of this when I was a kid when this was aired.... wowser I fill old XD
The Republic’s Venators were more of a generalist class of warship, while the Separatists had a selection of warships that each were dedicated to specialist roles (Munificent and Recusant classes as staple brawlers, Providence and Subjugator classes as battleships and capital ships, and Lucrehulk class as carriers and staple command centers). The fact that the Venator-class had to cover many roles meant they were also going to take all of the beating despite not being purely a brawling battleship.
Correct. I believe that venators are meant to be carriers. They have a massive hanger bay with several auxiliary hangers as well. Most of the guns are point defense, and they are depicted as ineffective at shooting down other capital ships. Hence, I believe that they need an escort fleet consisting of battleship style ships for capital ship battles and smaller escorts like the republic light cruisers to help shoot down the droid fighters. Furthermore, the tv show also disregards actual carrier tactics: for example, a fighter patrol should always be present to shoot down any fighters/bombers intruding on the ship; second, sending a single fighter squadron with an untrained commander to take down 3 capital ships; third, sending unescorted bomber strikes; and fourth, having carriers engage in broadside gun battles with battleship class capital ships.
Love how the Venator ships make the blaster sounds they were actually really cool. They just weren't big enough nor had enough cannon's. They should have done! The Malevolence was an amazing ship though and could have taken out the Death Star.. eventually! Imagine an entire fleet of those against the Empire or The First Order!
If anything Star Wars, I really in love of everything *Trade Federation* / *Federation* ever since initial Ep-1 & Ep-2 airing... Outside of those, I am also in love with the *'Venators* - managed to assemble one in KSP using B3 MOD 😘 Remained in pride of the _"Pride of Lazurea"_ bearing half the size of an actual Venator-class in *AVORION* ❤️ (...due to gate-size limitation 😭)
@@B1-997 In later updates, yep... there are now modules to increase hyperjump range. My only concern is/was the energy and time required for a short-jump that was somehow used full-jump mechanic instead of partial... Which was why I tend to avoid using them... unless I've had a mind crazy enough to assemble a mobile _'KUAT Drive-Yard'_ 😏
Thats only a peculiarity of certain parts of 21st century warfare. For example, if people are fleeing from a burning tank, even if they themselves are on fire, its perfectly acceptable to air them out.
I think the turbolasers have adjustable power; they can range from having the same power as a grenade and all the way to leveling buildings and enemy warships, though yeah, the ship cannons are quite inconsistent when it comes to destructive power.
Lets send three venators but never use any fighters the main role of the capital ship just keep hitting the malevolence with a battery barrage and dont send the cap to escort the shuttle back
As much as not having to deal with voice lines or anything is nice, they are still part of the space battle and it creates a jump cut leaving them out Namely Grievous talking about the asteroid field
It started out as a show that was geared toward a young audience at least imo but as the show went on it got darker by the 3rd season it definitely became more of an adults show
Man, this stuff was better conceived, written, and directed than the recent live-action films. DC has the same problem. Hire the animation teams to do the big-budget stuff because they *get it*.
I don’t know if someone could explain but I never understood why the seperatists didn’t send the malevolence with a escort of munificent class frigates or providence class dreadnought
Looking back at the battle of Ryloth, it really is remarkable how the Republic saw 1 lucrehulk and 2 munificents and thought "Yeah this is totally the entire CIS planetary blockade"
Plot armor
Still a much better fleet than 3 to 6 Munificents,. The Lucrehulk has the mass and fighter support to carry a fleet.
its still relatively early in the war so the jedi arent exactly the best tacticians yet
This might also be due to limitations to the animating team’s capabilities. At that time, anyway.
The Malevolence has to be by far my favorite super ship in Star Wars
I would love to see the Malevolence go up against the Death Star
She’d still be no match for the sovereign class USS Enterprise NCC-1701E
It has destroyed the most ships on screen in Star Wars, four Venator class star destroyers and three frigates.
@@Therealprinceofcobh wrong
