They're posted online. I have many.
Few of us have complete multitracks, though, due to the technique used by his engineer. Lots of the recording happened on slave tapes, like the guitars, background vocals, multiple lead vocal takes, etc. Those were then recorded back to the master tape as stems, often with effects applied. That's why his versions here are stems, and have effects. He has a transfer of the master multitrack. The slave tapes are rare. I only have a few.

For years now MJs Multitracks have been leaked and released. Tbh, Chris is kinda late, lol but I appreciate him anyway for breaking this stuff down for us!
Some of the MJ forums have posted them and there are A LOT of talented people who do remixes, extended mixes, etc with them.
It's how I've been able to find out all the extended vocals MJ did on songs that didn't make the final cut of the record. It's like seeing deleted scenes on a movie or extended scenes.
It's really NICE. Especially when you're used to the song then some new lyrics come in...like 🤯🤯🤯

The way he fused rock & pop together was, in its own way, very metal. And how he got his vocals so gravelly yet he could transition between that and soft, sweet vocals without hurting his voice is crazy. An anomaly artist.

Prince was never a heavy vocalist himself. He had a great tone/pitch whether his natural or his amazing falsetto, but in his 50+ years of releasing music you've never heard Prince belt or any extended notes because he didnt have the range to hold the notes even though he could hit them. Michael on the other hand has an extensive history of being able to from child to adult.

Did you notice that little nod to "Beat It" in the guitars towards the end of the song? 11:27 in the vid. That stuff makes me smile. For some reason I always thought Lita Ford played guitar on this track. I never realized that the emphasis on the word for God in the last verse is because if you pay attention to the context of the next line, he speaks in terms of Diana now having the phone in her hand, so when he says my babies at home, she’s probably worried tonight. He saying that in terms as he picks his picking up the phone dialing the number and as he’s talking to her Diana is trying to grab the phone that’s why it sounds like he’s fighting sombody off as he grunts out the word forgot, the way michael tells the story in his songs is god tier

Not enough credit goes to Steve Stevens for killing it on the guitar. Michael loved working with great guitarists, all of them loved working with MJ too, people like Eddie Van Halen, Slash, Carlos Santana, etc.
His brother Tito instilled that love for guitar into Michael, MJ saw up close how much hard work it takes to deliver a great guitar into a song

My favorite guitar song before Give Into Me. Could you get your hands on Heaven Can Wait? I love his lower gritty voice 😊

    Thanks again Chris.
How good are those ethereal string sounds? This needs to be utilised in someone's future remix! Michael's emphasis on certain words in the verses creates a 4 beat rhythm of it's own. "She looks me DEEP in the eyes, She's touch-ing ME just to start"

tech question because i have zero knowledge about sound engineering etc. so i understand that the grey panel on thewall that you can see over your right shoulder (around 9:40) has something to to with absorbing soundwaves and reducing echoes (have I got that right?) however behind the two grey chairs you have what looks like a shelving unit with lots of small boxes at varying depths. Are the open and closed boxes in that unit arranged in such a way as to have a noticeable effect on the sound within that room? Can human hearing distinguish the nuances between open and closed boxes?
    cheers

This was phenomenal! I’m so glad you covered this! One of my favorite tracks on the Bad album. I didn’t realize how much drum was in this song since it’s such a “guitar-y” song

This song went hard and then some 🤩
With each and every new multi track that surfaces it is a sign that we will truly never fully comprehend the genius that was Michael Jackson and his production team. Every song was a work of art. This is 🔥🔥🔥

There's strings in this thing? Like, real live strings not synth strings?
MAN, Michael's songs have layers! I thought Dirty Diana would have a simpler accompaniment but obviously not.

Some Songs from Michaels history Album have more grit and Aggression in his voice.
There is one thing about this song that bothers me, its the overall sound quality, sadly those perfect vocals have been recorded very badly or made badly (the recording itself is okay).

I always hear this and Give in to Me from Dangerous as being related, arrangement wise.
    Does that make sense?
I know QJ didn't work with MJ after Bad so the similarities must come from MJ's own musical ear.
He was known for singing all the musical parts to his musicians.

I don’t think so. We will never know for sure, but sometimes these multitracks packs have some stuff summed or combined in random ways.
