I've got a December 21 car and it comes with auto-Hold and the DCC. It works well the auto hold although I doubt the DCC makes much difference in truth. The car is running software 2.3 and the infotainment system is better than I'd feared having listened to the motoring journalists. You've covered most of the future upgrades but missed a few humb dingers! including the inclusion for a front storage area as there's lots of room with better packaging.
For me the interior lighting at night time needs a re think. Not having the heating / climate controls backlit for example is an astonishing oversight. The memory seating position too is mind bendingly poorly considered. If you a wearing any top coat it's practically impossible to see them and at night time impossible. The best that can be done is feeling for the controls and it's so easy to hit the wrong button and find yourself driving in KFC / McDonalds mode! The biggest change for the better as far as I'm concerned would be a BMW style controller for the main screen on the central console to avoid having to take your eye from the road. The option to have brighter options for the HUD would be good and much more functionality from the smartphone as other currently do .

Thank you for providing your POV, I agree with the missing backlights, that is a tad annoying. Still waiting for 2.3 here in the States. KFC/Mcdonalds mode! 😂

First the the window switches I love! On 4 I keep hitting the back anyway so the 2 is a joy to me. My wishlist would be for the rwd: a heated windshield like the AWD has a heat pump would be ok but afraid it would take away range from the weight. LoL I love that auto hold would liked one pedal but I'll take it. More range at least 300miles that's where the industry is going they can do it. I would love Hud system like Europe has also those matrix tail lights would be nice too. But my wish is to do more with the app from inside my home to set up or turn on/off things for departures plus more information. Overall still love the car with time they'll get better.

Luckily in Canada we have the heat pump included in all models but for the US at least having it as n ordering option would be good for the Northern ‘Mericans. Personally I love the B mode, I don’t need the car to stop for me as I know how a brake pedal works. It slows down perfectly for right turns as well. So far after a week of ownership I have found my infotainment system just fine and no lagging. On the steering wheel I do find the track skip buttons are kind of backwards. I also find it weird that the windshield wiper function is backwards compared to my Audi. One thing would add to your list is back lighting for the heat and volume sliders as well as an overhead storage compartment for sunglasses. One last thing that I find VW fell short is that in the base model there is no armrest with cup holders in the rear seats. You can still have that without the ski pass through. I spent $52K CDN on my AWD Pro after EV rebates and I don’t have rear seat cup holders!?

All of us need the heat pump! :) You're the second to mention backlighting the climate controls, that does make a lot of sense. Good to know Canada is getting the heat pump. I assume all models will in the near future. Thanks for watching and for providing your wish list!

I live in EU and picked up my 2022 ID4 this week with software version 2.3. I don’t experience any software lag on the screen so it seems to be sorted.
The car is great to drive. My main gripe would be in line with your feedback of the need for quick touch climate control.
My dealer gave good advice to use D rather than B mode for city driving.

I spoke to VW corporate customer support yesterday about when we can expect software updates to early ID.4's. The rep said there is no date for early ID.4 software updates. Wow! If I had know that I may not have purchased one. I have several glitches that I would think could be fixed with a software update. Plus there is new function, like brake assist, that I have been waiting for. So it looks like early buyers have been screwed. Too bad because generally speaking I love the car. I'll probably dump it next year.

A Heat Pump “option” would be nice. But why have a Heat Pump “default” design if you never need it?
The ID.4 suspension is perfect to me. No complaints. Sorry you don’t like it - hmmm. Drive a Tesla and you won’t complain about the ID.4 suspension! Tesla’s rides like a Flintstone rock car!
I like the default rear view mirror. No issues. The wide view camera has that “objects in view are closer than they appear” mode. It would be nice however to let the driver have their own “default”.
I like the 2-window switches (less buttons!). It only took me 90-seconds to adapt. Not complicated at all! Seems to be a fair number of complaints from Americans in videos I watch so I’m sure VW will change to 4-buttons to make it easier for Americans .
I may have misunderstood but, the volume is a knob in the middle bottom between the left/right heat knobs.
I use sunglasses to reflect/block the sun. No issues.
Maybe more matte finish would be nice to eliminate the amount of fingerprints it reveals.
Hmm, I have very very little lag in the infotainment system! I think people who had the 1st-edition have this lag. I NEVER had that “function is not available” message. As far as processing power, there is a micro-chip shortage around the world. Did you know that?
I really like the ID.4 ‘B’ mode. I’ve heard passengers (especially in the back seat) complain about true one-penal-driving and feeling like they were getting car sick with the constant thrusting forward-and-backwards. The ID.4 ‘B’ mode is smooth. I saw a German video from the VW Designers about the ‘B’-mode and it was specifically designed for better transition of gas car owners going to an electric car.
If you want the ID.4 to simulate true one-pedal-driving, put it in adaptive cruise control! It WILL slow down to zero. Try it!
Hmm, my ID.4 will auto-hold when I take my foot off the break! On steep hills it kind-a feels like it falls back about an inch before fully holding.
I see on the video your VW ID.4 has that ugly white steering wheel so I’m guessing you have a 1st generation model?

Thank you for providing your list! To answer some of your questions: the heat pump would be beneficial for nearly everyone in the United States and Canada. I live in the southern United States where it almost never snows, but once the weather drops below 60 degrees Fahrenheit, heater use is helpful. To give you an idea, I turned on my heater today (50 degrees) and it cut my estimated ranged by 40%! A heat pump would drastically reduce the wasted energy and make the car more efficient.
You live in Europe, right? Your software is on version 2.3. In North America, we don't have v2.3 yet, our update was delayed! So you all have more features than us from that perspective as well!
      I do have a first edition Id4, yes. :)

1, yeah… those would be nice as options including the HUD, but I think some of that is reserved for Audi in the US market, 2a … doesn’t bother me, but 2b, I like it. 3 - I guess, because it is kind of annoying at times. 4 - I’d like them to light the sliders under the display (temp & vol) 5 - I haven’t really noticed that, but I haven’t had my car in the summer yet… 6 - yes. Less piano black. 7 - at startup, it is slow, but it’s supposed to be better with the newer software. 8 - I’d like to be able to turn off Find that in B mode, I can mostly one pedal, except those last few mph… it’d be nice if they changed that.

    Good wish list.

I would also vote for more frequent software updates. Some of the items on your wish list, for example, the choice of backup camera image, could be addressed in a software update.
Since we are less likely to receive changes to the physical aspects of the car before we purchase another one, I would like VW to give more emphasis to software updates that can improve the driving experience of the physical car I have now.

      @MrPetej00 2 роки тому

@@evhelphub I am not really commenting on the Quality of the materials etc, but more the user experience. Maybe QC wasnt the correct term i was looking for. There are just too many user issues that should have been caught during a basic drive of the car. It seems everyone is moving towards large touchscreens to control every aspect of the car, if they have a focus group drive the car they would see how distracting using a touch screen can be. You shouldnt have to take your eyes off the road to adjust temp controls. And why is piano black still being used, like you said, not only is it a light reflection hazard, but its a nightmare to keep clean.
I get that they are trying to keep costs down. Believe me, I am all for cheaper EV's, but there are just some things drivers come to expect, like 4 window controls. back lit buttons you can see while driving at night, a non distorted camera etc..
