In the fall I cut my lawn low so there’s not a lot of raking to do in spring. So, since I’m going to go with your program...can I keep the same lawn routine just use what you suggest and No Scott’s treatments...?

I have been going back and forth with the sod company and the builder finally said the landscape co will be coming sometime this spring to fix the bear spots. I'm in Springtown Tx and am starting to get the weeds. Is it okay to still spread the PE. I unfortunately didn't buy The Andersons DG, but a Scotts brand!😡 I aslo was thinking of overseeing with something like Laprima XD but didn't know when to do that or if I should this soon. Any advice would be greatly appreciated because I'm striving for the best looking yard in the neighborhood!

Hey Doc/Doc fans, pre emergent product question for y’all. I have about 5k sq feet of Bermuda. If I do the split treatment (granular in Feb. spray Dimension after mid March) I’ll have leftover dimension spray. If I buy the bottle, will the extra last 12 months so I can finish it off the following year? If not, would an alternative treatment be to just spray something like Bayer Advanced weed control instead of Dimension? Dimension seems great, but isn’t portioned for anything smaller than 10k sq feet.

    Howdy Doc,
    I need Yer help Partner.
I too tried to kill some weeds (some kind of nasty low growing vine type clover thing) in my Zoysia Grass over this warm wet winter... here in Virginia (King George, VA between DC & Richmond) but rain limited that effectiveness.
Well I bought the Andersons Barricade 0.48% Pre-Emergent weed control. I suspect since my Zoysiagrass is the "dormant-tan" color & I can easily see those pesky green clover vine spreading things & this Barricade can't help with that.
WHAT would you recommend for killing those tough low growing small clover vine weeds ???
All my neighbors have these weeds too and they do seem to make my Zoysiagrass struggle!
By the way, late spring & later summer I used PGF Complete & Humic DG... in the fall I also did another application of the Andersons Humic DG too.

I have some major spots on my lawn that were taken over by crab grass and one other invasive grass (don't recall the name) of which I will need to reseed this season. I'm challenged each spring because I always seem to have these small and large patches to fix, yet I know putting pre emergent down will inhibit germination of the grass seed. Early and HEAVY treatment of PE at the right time first.... then wait 3-4 months. Kill any existing that made it through the PE. Then wait 2 -3 weeks and make sure it has rained. By that time the PE and GRASS KILLER should be gone, re-seed.

Doc, I recently purchased the agri-fab spreader you recommend and preparing to put out the barricade-dg. I recall a video where you mentioned how to determine the spreader settings by looking at the granual size. Do you (or anyone) know that video or what setting you recommend for the appropriate rate? I haven't used this spreader yet, so i don't have a "feel" for it. thank you!

Correct... I generally set that unit at just over 1/4" on the slot size. I found the numbers vary unit by unit.

As long as it has time to work in via water and rains it's fine.

thanks Doc for all you efforts with the videos... just moved to Dallas Texas from California and learning so much from you about Bermuda grass lawn care... Question. I recently raked the lawn with a regular leaf rake after PE treatment and after a very heavy rain a couple weeks ago to lift and mow lower the Bermuda. (mow @ 1.5 inches) Should I be concerned that I disturbed the barrier from the PE and treat again?

PE will help prevent weeds. HUMICHAR will help make your soil great for grass.

With a yard with a ton of weal spots should I still use preemergent? I had a bit of a "world's worst Bermuda lawn" scenario and I want it to fill in.

I have to treat for several issues like ticks, and earwigs, so I prefer the double kill which does it all at once.

Hello Doc, what would happen if PE is applied to new Bermuda sod in its first year? Will the PE cause damage?

    • @HowTowithDoc
      @HowTowithDoc  3 роки тому +1

It should be fine, just slower on root development. After 3 months of heat you'll be good.
