    It is interesting to watch Dr. Kwon increase the club head speed of high handicap players but to watch and learn from a session with a golfer of Drew’s talent is amazing. Well done.

    I worked on keeping the shoulders closed at impact this past Tues and was hitting the ball so much more solid. Now I can work on the speed and maybe get some of my old distance again, at 68 y/o.

    There was a 2-3 second part in this video that resonated with me. It’s when Dr. Kwon says “use these muscles” and points to his abdomen to accelerate the club head thru the hitting zone. I always see many instructors telling students to “stay closed” or keep the back to the target, but there is rarely any intent discussed.
    Here, I believe Dr. Kwon is suggesting that the active backswing, slowing/lowering of the arms in transition allows golfers to get in a more shallow and optimal position to use core muscles to continue to drive the swing thru the hitting zone. Great stuff

    I have incorporated Dr Kwon technique into my swing routine over the winter and so far have found an increase in distance and accuracy. The forceful backswing increase my should and hip turn with a little re-centering and keeping my back at the target momentarily durning the downswing has given me slight closed shoulder at contact . Letting the arms and club go gives me the club head acceleration and square club face.
    Great stuff as always! I watch these over and over as you instructed different people as I might grab something that clicks with me!

    In my Sunday 4sum, now have 3 of the 4 swinging ropes like Dr Kwon! One showed the rope swing to his excellent instructor, Keith Roberts in Studio City, who instantly embraced it. My brother-in-law is an excellent athlete who scored well despite a swing he accurately described as like a caveman clubbing a dinosaur. He's never been able to translate verbal tips or instruction into the right moves and feels, but the beauty of the rope swing is it teaches the body, not the brain. After ten years hovering around 15 handicap, we've all moved close to single digits and still improving. I'm 65. My drives had dropped to 240 being a good one and 3w 200, never making par 5 greens in 2, but now anything 550 or shorter feels doable. With rope swing, last Thursday 290 drive and 195 yard 4 iron - Chirrp putting mat helped me make the 11 foot downhill eagle putt. Please let us know if Drew finds higher swing speeds once he's on a monitor.

    This is freak speed! Drew Cooper should be in the Remax long drive championship. He is almost with Kyle Berkshire in terms of the ludicrous speed he generates. A helicopter almost doesn't make a sound that loud! Athleticism + Biomechanical Expert = golf ball almost leaving the earth's gravity. Only a small group of people can produce this type of speed. We all can improve with these mechanics. Awesome stuff.

    What a great swing and tempo!!!! I love this kind of sessions with Dr. Kwon. You always learn something. When Dr. Kwon says to put more presure in the left leg after recentering is that pushing down with the left knee inward or outward to the left?

    • @KawmLusMekas
      @KawmLusMekas 2 роки тому +1

      I think the recentering is basically shifting the weight to the left, as to gain the stability and to generate more power from pushing upward when hitting the ball, as soon as the club is almost finish reaching its farthest plane on the back swing. This concept is the same as hitting baseball. If you follow Dr. Kwon's 1-2-3 steps drill long enough, you will master this technique. However, the best way to realize this concept is to have/carrry some weights on your back so this will make/help you to have the squat and pushing upward feeling. In other words, always pretend like you are carrying some weight while you are swinging. That is the reason Dr. Kwon uses the weight during this type of excercise so that the whole body is working as one unit.

    • @antoniom5440
      @antoniom5440 2 роки тому

      @@KawmLusMekas Appreciate your comment and understand the concept, I was just trying to clarify one small detail but I think you answered it when mentioning the squat so that makes me think that when recentering you need to push down and outward with your left leg

Is the ability to be that active in the back swing without locking the rear leg just an athletic ability that gifted golfers have?

    Very nice swing!! If you notice, he has a full swing, alot of regular golfers dont have a full swing like this, the reason
    for a full swing makes your arc alot bigger, if you don't turn alot on back swing, your arc is smaller, the larger the arc
    the farther you will hit, the guy with same speed swing with small arc is like 120 lets say, well with same speed, but larger arc, his swing will pick up speed.. also him making him swing from in to out, most golfers swing from out to in, which causes a slice, with in to out swing makes for a great draw or even hook..also swinging out makes your swing longer also...just my thoughts..very nice swing for sure..

I am currently working on and practicing Dr Kwon's swing and I like the moves, but have yet to see any consistent gains in distance. Also, I'd like to see if students are gaining any increase in developing lag, or not.
    I'm 73 yrs old and commonly drive the ball between 250 and 300 yards. (More often 250). This is down from my average of 3 yrs ago, at 270 to 320. I'm trying to get back the additional 20 to 30 yards.

      For this situation it has to deal with a feel for Drew flying open too early and sapping himself of extra core body speed. It’s my understanding that if you stay closed longer, the opening of the shoulders and hips actually happens with more aggressiveness out of shear necessity. So in theory, it should not affect how open you are at impact. That extra time staying closed is allowing the arms to lower (getting shallow) and increases the power and quickness of the hips/shoulders at the most important part of the swing.

    Shaft plane is the most important thing!>>>THIS guy starts on (A )shaft plane and rises up approx 4 inches and totally puts himself on a different shaft plane (B) at impact....For instance BEN HOGAN start on a shaft plane and returned the club on the same plane!

      Milo at 5’9 just hit 136 club and 202 ball speed and hits the same shot almost every time. I’ll take the consistency Milo build in his students. Also if you actually understand what Milo teaches then you’d see he and Dr Kwon agree on most things but Milo wants the stable face and predictable ball flight more than maximum speed.

    Maybe not amazing for 99.99% of all golfer! To try to copy super fit guy! Its quite silly to see this video for most golfer! Go to Malaska or Marcus Edblad! Thous guys have understan to play golf and hit ok far! You need to understand your hand and arms! After that you can maybe get some positive from this addvice!? To drive a car its more importent to handle the styring wheel then the gear box ! A gear box (body) that only give you 20% of speed compere to 80 % from the hand and arm!

    That’s nowhere near 152 mph club head speed. That’s complete horse shit. If so show live numbers. At tops it’s 132-135. Period. If it was 152 he would be world long drive champ. He couldn’t touch Birkshre.
