    Not doubting the improvement, but I feel it would be transparent to see you take this to the course and lets so how you score. Lots of video of just range sessions but no proof the training is actually working in a real course setting. Even the range sessions have no shot tracr and no data showing ball speed, distance, etc..

    The “towel wringing” thing in Hogan’s Five lessons which is counter rotation of the two arms inward as they straighten after gripping the club in the air starting with elbows down / palms up as he also suggested creates a grip which but a lobster-like hold on club with both hands while leaving the other fingers relaxed enough to freely move the club up and down with radial / ulnar deviation, the “waggle” he did in his pre-shot routine to make sure he had that freedom of movement to let the club force automatically pull hands into ulnar deviation in a wide outside hands takeaway.
    It is allowing the club force to pull both hands into ulnar deviation, overcomes the leverage of the extended trailing wrist, which allows the momentum acting on the toe of the club which is pointing up and forward at that point, to turn the hands over, cock the wrists and whip the club up around the momentum-pulled straight lead lever arm.
    The underlying goal in that Hogan style takeaway is two-fold. The obvious one when you master it is feeling the force of the club whipping up pull arm tighter across chest which “levers” the shoulder the remaining 45° past the back foot restrained hips to the top of the backswing. The less obvious part is that it is the action of the accelerating club mass whipping up around the hands pinning lead lever arm to chest which allow it to fire off the chest like the lever arm of a catapult in the downswing as the shoulders come back to parallel with swing line when hips “hit the wall” in the downswing, which then whips the club head around the hands again like that other medieval weapon the Trebuchet.
    The amazing thing I discovered actually finding the “secret in the dirt” as Hogan suggested is that getting the club to the top and down again consistently happens automatically, but only if the club is gripped in the air and lowered with light enough pressure in the fingers to freely waggle it up and down which is the the key to the wrist cock action.
    That counter rotation of the forearms created by gripping in the air with elbows on chest bent 90° loads both arms when the club is lowered and arms straighten to address the ball with twisting torque not obtained if grounding and gripping. It is the “towel wringing” counter-torque between the forearms which very consistently forces the trail wrist into maxed out extension which forces the elbow to fold downward and tuck into the body like Hogan’s did.
    That counter torque between the arms, if established at address, will make the automatic reconnection of trail elbow with body leading the hands like Hogan automatic. That’s what is missing in your swing in this video.

      Interesting detailed comment. Nice feeling to have the club launch like a Trebuchet. Dr Kwan’s philosophy is a bit hard to get a handle on. He doesn’t teach a specific feel but relies on innate abilities to establish a flow. He also has a very practiced eye that can eliminate common faults early. Very encouraging.

    I don't know if you reacted to my takeaway comments on one of the other recent videos. This looks like a step in the right direction. Your last swing had a better top of the backswing position than in some of the earlier videos that I have seen and there was some improvment in the takeaway. Even with an improved top of the swing position, you are fighting early lead wrist flexion and the club inside the hands on the backswing which gets you a little flat, a little across the line, and a little closed and then you fight it in the downswing which slows down your release. if you are going to have a fast takeaway you must continue to drive your arms and hands with the core body motion even beyond one third to halfway to the top. Right now your hands and arms are still trying to sling the club back from that point somewhat independantly of core body motion to gain elastic rebound energy on the downswing but this introduces slight delays and sequencing issues. Let the arms "ride" to the top more as the core impetus allows them to gain momentum and speed up. This will help you KEEP THE CLUB OUTSIDE YOUR HANDS in the early-mid takeaway. The slinging (rebound) energy will happen by itself as you change direction with the core and weight shift. However, this way the club will be on a much better line automatically and in a more neutral position and the energy will flow freely through the ball. Cheers.

    Just wonderful insights to a modern, efficient golf swing. Thanks ! My question is around drills/feels to impart a proper re-centering motion. My 2 step drill practice has a tentative reach out step (I feel) with the left foot ("like walking on ice") so my pressure is slow to get to that side. Dr. Kwon mentioned previously that the left stepping motion is in practice more of a re-centering move. Can you spend more time on this important topic which I sense leads to both an improved continuous and asynchronous motion.

    Keep moving in tbe pre shot routine B. You tend to stop moving shortly before swing. Avoid freezing.
    When we are not moving we lose our center of gravity. Then any subsequent motion is not going to be fluid.

      I get it. It is "false" to.
      I'll tell you a little mental trick: Think of it like you are hitting a moving ball. Like a pitched baseball.
      Are you frozen still while waiting for the fast ball? Nope.
      Cause you gotta know where your center is, where your balance is, to react fast enough.
      There's no time to start moving to find your center and then react. Like a martial art you know.
      Same in golf. You don't have time to find your center in the backswing.
      And if you start without having your center things go off track right away. The orbit is what it's gonna be, but the planet's forces are gonna determine the orbit. Our center that is.
      The actual reality is you are hitting a moving ball because our motion will never be perfectly identical, within the square half inch of the sweet spot tolerance range anyway.
      So our amazing body is putting the sweet spot on the ball from all sorts of variations. So we really are hitting a moving ball. Relatively anyway.
      You're getting really close B. I see it coming.

    Too me the fix for B is obvious. He still gets it inside and lifts. Has nothing to do with his arms either. They are the result. Watch Drew / Monte or any accomplished golfer at the top and compare. B s shoulders are almost level to the ground . Also, Level going back ,thus the inside move then he reroutes his shoulder plane down that’s why he has that trademark move at the top. Some call it a hitch.
    . Needs to deepen his left shoulder going back. He’s so in on speed he’s just throwing it back with a level turn. You can swing fast with level maybe even faster but the contact is not good.
    Hard to change , How many times has a friend say I’m doing this now, but it’s the exact same swing. Our DNA is not easy to overcome past 10_12 yrs old.

    @giveupgoogleno3450 2 роки тому +1

    Oh wow. I completely misunderstood this continuous motion example. I was applying force exactly like you describrd before. Can't wait to give that a go. Did Dr. Kwon describe when/how to squat? In your first lesson during the horizontal swing, he says to squat on the right leg but in the last video with cooper he says to flex the left knee. Any insight on this?

    • @3spressoShot
      @3spressoShot 2 роки тому +2

      The squat is to make you push so you can start to weight shift to the opposite side.
      So in other words squat push back leg on the backswing which initiates the “fall” to the front leg which you fall into it with a bent knee so then you can push off of it to initiate the down swing

    • @giveupgoogleno3450
      @giveupgoogleno3450 2 роки тому

      @@3spressoShot This makes sense a lot of sense. I was conflicted with either "falling" into a bent left knee or adding more flexion on the right knee at the end of the BS. Dr Kwon does what you're saying at around the 11:30 mark

    • @jedigunn
      @jedigunn 2 роки тому +1

      In other videos, Dr. Kwon (not Dr. Kwan) emphasized a "mature transition," which is, as I interpret, a little puase at the top of the backswing. Be aware that the mature transition is a part of the continous/connected flow, which is overlapping between the backswing and the downswing.

    • @MittererTHElitterer
      @MittererTHElitterer Рік тому

      You don’t want to think of the backswing ending and the downswing starting. It’s supposed to be one, fluid, body-driven movement. That’s the point of Dr. Kwon’s teachings.
      As your club is approaching the top of the backswing, you should already be shifting your weight back towards lead leg. Continuous motion. Step - turn - step - turn sequence

    I am starting to use continuous motion in my golf swing. Before I would pause my hands a little bit on the top of the backswing, then lag my hands on the downswing. The results were either over-the-top move near impact where I would pull the shot way to the left by releasing my hands, or holding my release and hitting way off the toe and starting the shot way to the right. Now I am emulating a tennis player hitting a forehand by shifting my lower body to the left well before my hands are at the top of my backswing.

    Guys-thanks so much for sharing all this information.
    I am certainly no expert-and probably shouldn’t be opining here-but here goes.
    With your driver you appear to be standing too close to the ball. You are also swinging left-more out to in rather than simply down around and up-when you hit these less than ideal shots-possibly because you are crowding the ball.
    It may be the camera angle but it looks to be confirmed by how close your elbows are into your body and how erect you are standing-although you are tall and I guess Freddie Couples also stands fairly erect to the ball and he seems to do just fine with that setup!!! :-)
    Dr Kwon talked about this issue in one of his reprogramming sessions with a student on UA-cam mentioning that there are two pendulums in the swing-the arms with hands at the bottom appear to move more vertically moving more up/down Ferris wheel like-while the angle the wrists and hands make with the club allow the shaft to act as an angled pendulum transferring energy down and out towards the ball-a little more merry go round like.
    He then had the student hang his arms down more-which increased (or decreased actually I guess) the shaft/forearm angle causing the shaft angle to shallow while the arm pendulum piece moved back and through on a move vertical plane. He also had the student step back a little and bend more from the waist to help get into the suggested position. He then added more wrist cock at the top. These changes appear to have also facilitated more cup in his left wrist at the top.
    I am not sure this approach is one size fits all-and of course I could be totally missing the real message on the vertical arm pendulum axis-but I am trying very hard to put all this information into some meaningful order for myself and thought I would take a chance and drop these comments out in public.
    Thanks again to both of you for all the effort put into trying to get this information out there and help people improve!!! Much appreciated!!! David

    Hi Brendon I have followed you for years now and am thrilled you seem to be following Dr Kwon’s drills OK, but I am seeing you still have no idea how to start your swing with your club head behind your ball.
    Do you?
    That OK because Dr Kwon even admits that all his students don’t get it either. So only one visit to him is simply not enough
    So In my unfinished to be published booklet entitled “ The 1&1/2 second drill for a lifetime of perfect Golf” I submit to you and Dr Kwon that the only possible way for any golfer to swing any of their clubs consistently, precisely and accurately is by deliberately focusing on the pendulum motion action of the golfer’s lead knee throughout the entirety of the golfer swing.
    In my booklet I will precisely speak on why and how this works in an easy to understand non technical manner.
    So the simplicity of which I speak is as the golfer takes aim of their target with the dorsal back if their lead hand pointing to the area they wish to land their ball; and the club head is placed perpendicular to the ball; the golfer then needs to allow their lead knee to relax pointing outward with the golfer initially favoring slightly more weight of the body on their lead side to start their swing
    The golfer then start their swing specifically by having their lead knee moving inward followed by their lead knee moving outward creating a pendulum TICK TORRK movement of their their lead knee as the rest of their body is working solely under the direction of the timing and tempo of the golfer’s lead knee.
    I truly believe that GRF research that Dr Kwon’s is involved in will support my Thesis Of The Golf Swing that no one else has ever directly taught before as it keeps the golfer swing circle center in total balance without the need for the golfer to suddenly feel or be taught somehow to try and hold back their downswing with their lead shoulder and then quickly shift their weight on their lead leg as they transition into the golf downswing
    What I am now revealing to you is copy righted material; however if you find what I told you was helpful to you and would love to use it freely in your own program; you have my permission to do so freely; but I request you mention my name that you heard it first from me.
    I have given you the focal part of My Thesis Of thé Golf Swing and sincerely hope you love it and your share it with Dr Kwon as i am certain his continued research will back me up. Sincerely. Thomas Fraser

    Brendon, is there any way for you or Dr. Kwon to do a video showing All of Dr. Kwon’s Stages in order and the drills that are used to accomplish the stages, and what checkpoints to look for before going on to the next Stage in the process? This would be EXTREMELY helpful as getting all of this information together in one spot, In Order, is very elusive! Thanks 🙏!!

    The Dr. Kwon stuff doesn't do much for me. The recent Lee Deitrich video was more helpful. It also rhymes with one that is really huge for me, the barefoot Japanese guy from Kinematic golf: DS= pointing and twisting. Padraig Harrington's recent one about the proper hip turn (internal rotation of right leg!) was similarly huge for my BS.
    Brandon might want to look at that one and/or Pozar's BS if he wants to tighten his (H1 no lower body move, H2 lb, ub and arms in synch to top).

    Regarding the continues flow: How do you explain the freeze at the top of the swing from Hideki Matsuyama?

      Thete was an article about hos swing in GD recently. His key power move is the slide towards the target after that pause, according to this article.

      How do you explain it ? What do you mean it’s simply less efficient and has learned to find at a high level that way. Many pros have different compensations.

      @@3spressoShot in other words, you can stop at the top or you can have continues flow or any one of a million other ways to swing. There is no secret other than to live golf 24 hours a day and that is no guarantee ether.

    I think Brandon could improve his swing by stopping at the top similar to Cameron Young. A least try to be more solid and efficient at the top of his swing. He has a strange motion at the top that I can’t figure out. Does anyone else see it and explain what he is doing?

      Why would u purposely
      Stop. Would you do that to throw a ball? Throw anything far?
      Makes no sense

      Because he is lifting his arms in the backswing and pulling in the downswing. He loses the club head weight/position just before and during transition, as he lifts. This also keeps him from having a continuous motion. I catch myself helping the club with my arms too.

      Gents, couldn't you ask the golfer hitting balls next to you to move over? Very distracting and dangerous.
