Austin, the Ford guy from South Africa again. This Hi-lux is turning out brilliantly. The moment I saw the old buckets and bezels, I said to my wife you WILL paint them. Great stuff! The LED's are great
Fun video. Something to keep in mind, when using LED head lights on these older Toyotas - at least on my 1990 pickup, the wiring for the hi/low beams includes some funky stuff relative to the high beam indicator light on the gauge cluster. How Toyota set it up involves current flowing through the blue dash indicator light, but then when the low beams are on, there is a better path and the indicator light goes off - but it's still a closed electrical pathway, if you are using an incandescent bulb in your dash there. I'm not sure if your truck is wired up differently than the 89-95 years, but I ran into this same issue when switching to LED's. I ended up removing that bulb all together, in order to prevent having an electrical pathway back to ground (no matter how tiny). Just wanted to mention it, in case that ever crops up and gives you problems. Great info on the powder coating, by the way!
I've got the Holley retrobrite's in my '75 Hilux (all 4) and they work great! Try those... Fitment was great and they don't look like "tuner boi" headlights. Love your channel!
I was going to recommend these too. Going to do two sets in my 67 Buick, putting ambers in the high beam locations. IIRC, they are made by Morimoto, I have had good luck with their LEDs on other projects. Glad the first set didn't fit, not a fan of those, set #2 is better. Still not my taste but better.
You need a double wall oven for powder coating! Cannot wait to see it done. Also editing was awesome on this one dude...the mix of music and "background/tool noise" was spot on.
I think you should install those two horns... The reason it is two because the other one is high tone and the other is low. Then if you use your horn, it will sound good at the same time.
You thought about it for a minute to keep the bezels/mounts as they were rusty and all - but you couldn't help it? 🤷♂️🤣 Glad you'd go all the way - turned out great!
When you do stuff it just look so easy and fun. I got motivated to repair an old Peugeot Boxer Campervan that I have, and it was two days of pure suffering, grease and fucking things up. At least I had some beer with my cousin 😆 lol
Rebuild me a transmission. How much $ to rebuild my Toyota transmission. 85 Toyota,1st gear pops out ,can't hold it in ,all other gears fine. And I live in your hood bro. Great videos, attention to detail is remarkable. 👍
wish i have a close garage that has flat cement ground and full of tools like this. because its so damn hard to work in the snow and sand and gravel ground almost killed me when changing brakes car tip off fall off the stands
Hey have a question what rods are you running in that motor cause I’m building a hybrid with 87 block an when using the stock rods the piston is sticking up 1/4 inch out of the block any information on this be much appreciated thanks
Interesting that you couldn’t get those original LED headlights to fit, I’m pretty sure I have the exact same pair in my 86 landcruiser which has a very similar mounting system.
Bro, when you're done washing and sand blasting do you take 15 minutes to stretch? I was watching today and was like "my back would be killing me after that!". Super entertaining build so far, thank you!
Have you ever considered powder coating the whole truck it would be the only one most likely just throwing thoughts out there I don't even know if thats possible or if it would hold up just seems cool to me anyway I hope you have a great holiday season !!! another great video I watch all your videos
I actually like the looks of the 2nd set better. I think they fit the look of the truck better than the first set. When can we expect you to blow the truck up and do a full resto?!?!?!?!
I don't like the look of LED headlights on my Hilux l have two rectangular headlights but l will be replacing them with H4s and will you be repairing the rust fortunately l have no terible rust on my Hilux its mainly surface rust
the king of modifying things as needed who agree with me 😉

This is why I like your channel. You spend the least amount of time talking and get into the work
11:35 the new lights u got looks better. They’re Sleeker, subtler, and simpler. Love the build though. Ur the man!!
nobody does a more thorough job than you man!
As always Austin, the build looks F'n awesome.
Thank you!!

That’s true legally if you are running a coating business and selling your services. doing small parts for yourself it’s not a necessity
Enserio que está Toyota tiene tantos detalles tu proyecto es uno de los mejores en todo UA-cam UN 🫂 DESDE 🇵🇷 MUCH RESPECT FULL BLESS
Beautiful. Much love from Burundi 🇧🇮
I love that little truck,so unique 👍
Lights are nice, but mate that noise from the fuel pump is a no no
Very good work! I like your patience and attention to detail.
It has impressed me beyond words

great videos, good inspiration. you break it down to where it looks easy.
thank you.
Buen trabajo bro saludos 🤗 🇭🇳🇭🇳🇭🇳🇭🇳🇭🇳
Looking sweet those headlights.
i like the second set of led headlights better than the first set you had.
Really wished you would have gone with the first set of lights!!! I went with those and had to cut but totally worth it! Go check it
Good work as always, gotta critique just a little...
Would have done the headlight beauty ring to match the wheels....
Those are the same headlamps Matt's Off-road Recovery uses on the Morvair. They are awesome headlamps!
This is a great way to return to social media. I can't believe that you found a 77, 46 model years old in that condition.Nice work.

Good job brother well done we have loads of spare parts let us know if you want some
The truck patina look was okay at first, but now with all the work that's been done JUST PAINT THE TRUCK ,I liked the black rims
Those lights work great
Awesome work and progress but the fuel pump noise is killing me
You should paint it egg shell white or cream color would look absolutely insane!!!!!
Nice it’s turning out amazing
Lights look dope! You gonna Raptor line the bed? Seems like the bed being nice would match the engine bay.
What paint is that on your cover?? Looks great
Rebuild me a transmission.
How much $ to rebuild my Toyota transmission.
85 Toyota,1st gear pops out ,can't hold it in ,all other gears fine.
And I live in your hood bro.

Why no dual low beams? Or maybe hook the low beam of the inner lights up to a fog light switch.
What?! No power washer? LOL! So far this has been my second favorite project, only to the Kai truck.
I think the second set of lights looks much better. I think that worked out for the better.
Hey have a question what rods are you running in that motor cause I’m building a hybrid with 87 block an when using the stock rods the piston is sticking up 1/4 inch out of the block any information on this be much appreciated thanks
my dude paints every single bare metal surface and I am all fucking about it.....everyone needs to be more like Austin. do it right the first time
Good work..... Do you intend to fix the car body ?
Interesting that you couldn’t get those original LED headlights to fit, I’m pretty sure I have the exact same pair in my 86 landcruiser which has a very similar mounting system.

Haha yeah pretty much! Thanks man!
If you connect both horns would it make a different tone?
What kind of painting is that too !?
Have you ever considered powder coating the whole truck it would be the only one most likely just throwing thoughts out there I don't even know if thats possible or if it would hold up just seems cool to me anyway I hope you have a great holiday season !!!
another great video I watch all your videos
It would fit in his oven 🤣
@@allenwilson9656 He said there is powder coating that does not require heating just was curious
Are you going to put the hood back on?
Are you keeping the patina? Toyota always had one of the best true blues in the game.
I just changed my headlights on my 03 Hilux with OME ones, now I don’t need to guess when I’m driving at night..

I can’t stop imagining a RR grill for this truck. Lol
The brown line should be your running lights or so I thought 🤔
He can build, he also can prank 🤣
the lights are back feeding through the circuit to get the ground they want
I have a Mazda 1975 repu where is your garage , I will love to restore my truck.
You going to clean up the inner fender
You really should epoxy primer parts before you powder coat them as I ‘ve seen parts rust underneath it
I swapped the horn on my wife's minivan with an Ohgah horn. She wasn't as amused as I was.
I like the second lights better
