@@BigBlackClock86imma have to check out what kinda suspension this is, but whether or not $10k is budget is kinda relative. Depends what you want it to do. If you're looking to hit big whoops and jumps that might be pretty reasonable. I know I've designed and parted out a 4-link that doesn't need to be as strong as that kinda thing and the parts, including relocating the gas tank, were around $2k, and that was with much less expensive shocks than you'd want for that kinda thing, since this was for a drift truck rather than a desert truck. I could see doing all four wheels in a beefier way costing $10k eeeeasily.
When doing plastics, you should always use a adhesion promoter before using a primer or sealer that way it is guaranteed to stick and not have cracking (what you saw)
just a tip for painting over the chrome you don’t even have to paint at all! if you put the parts in a bucket fully submerged in concentrated zep degreaser it actually strips off the chrome and leave you with black!
Hmmmm so if I did this to my windowsills chrome on my accord it should black it out...? I was thinking to just spray plastidip on it incase u wanna go back chrome
@@hakimdurand8427 I actually went with the vinyl strips. Found on Amazon, 4"x48" black rolls. I went with gloss black and it matches the body almost perfectly. You can always remove it whenever you want and it'll last for a good while. If you do decide to take this route, be extra cautious with cutting along the window base. I cut through a couple spots of that rubber strip that seals against the window and it drives me crazy lol. Just a suggestion!
Couple of pointers about the paint Lacquer based primer/paint won't mix with enamels as you discovered so just verify what type you are buying to keep things compatible The paint job may have been dried completely but most paints need an additional cure time as well. This is important because the curing process can release gasses (off-gassing) that will haze the inside of the housing lenses and once they are hazed you'll never get them looking mint again. I usually bake painted parts in an oven at 200F for a few hours to expedite that process
Use the heatgun for your heatshrink next time stops the heatshrink from burning also get some glue lined heatshrink works much better outside of the cab keeping the water out i picked up a assorted box for like 40 bucks from autobarn
great job on these, I did my own as well for my 4runner (hilux surf) its an easy and rewarding project. for the chromed plastics you can actually just dunk them in purple power for a little bit and itll strip all the chrome off
I got up to the part were you put them in the oven But I decided to have a beer & watch the rugby. Half way through the game I could smell something burning... I am going to need a new set of lights so just ordered the ones already eyes installed.

Steve’s pro tip. To remove the chrome from plastics, mix up a bucket of water with caustic side in it. 15 minutes or so and rinse it off. You may need to use a toothbrush to get into some tight corners and might need another dip depending how good the chrome is .👍🍺
"Sparky boom booms"...nice. I reckon the sanded back look on the chrome looked brilliant. Some clear over the top, job done. I was hoping to see low bean/high beam action :( perhaps on another episode? Nice job though - they do look different. Not sure what I prefer, but it is your 4b after all!🤔 Thanks for the step by step and pointers to remove the clear covers. The cardboard oven is effective, so thumbs up and thanks.
You can definitely use a drill to screw them on faster, just use one where you can change the amount of torque and put it on a low setting and just hand tighten.
Doing this next week, im on school holidays finally and im pulling my prado 120s bullbar off, then hesdkights out, then grille out, and tgen rhino rack off. Just ordered some angry eye BILED bushdoof 3 inch headlights and they come in 4 days hopefully. Bullbars gonna go gloss black and then roof rack is getting resprayed. Same with the grille, also getting gloss black, and then the headlights are also going gloss black with the bushdoof headlights. And i also have their 6ft RGB whip to go with it, cant wait for the lift kit to come too. The 0 offset 16 inch ATI beadlocks and 33 inch nitto ridge grappler sare also gonna make her look mint.

Where’d your order the projector from? I’m gonna do the same thing u did to my car. Also does the projector run low and brights? I’m trying to get into lighting
Rate the editing style, this vid is sick! I assume the new lights don’t rely on the reflector behind to shoot the light forward and that’s how you can get away with painting them?

does the black paint stop it from projecting light as far??
if the chrome bits are black plastic underneath you can let sit in Zep industrial de-greaser to eat the chrome, turning the part black.
