Build your corner bench with cinder block and thinset after the shower is all waterproofed and prepped. It's a dusty mess cutting the cinder block but way better installation in the long run.
Thank you for the video, I follow it but the water isnt reaching the top for the shower. there is not tub. just a shower. I cant seem to figure this out, what did i do wrong?
I have the same valve but I can't get enough cold water to come out. I took everything apart to make sure there was no trash which helped. I still feel though there isn't enough cold water with enough pressure behind it.
Hello my friend, the video is very instructive, greetings from Brazil. I have a question: can I connect a handheld shower to the lower outlet where the bathtub pipe is used? For example, if I connect the handheld shower to the lower outlet, does the overhead shower stop dispensing water? I would like the overhead shower to stop when using the handheld shower. Is this possible with this type of valve, or would I need a different type of valve for this case?
you will need a diverter, I'm installing one right now, diverter looks like another valve and controls 3 different outlet, shower head, rain shower and hand shower.
LOL. WRONG! See those holes in the valve body? Those are there for reason and that reason is to mount the valve body DIRECTLY to the blocking. This is the one place in the circuit that will get torque and pressure, which can cause flexing and solder joints to FAIL, and should be mounted securely. And putting flux over hot solder joints does nothing but waste flux. Lame.
Why don't you ask where the air chambers are? You know, shock arrestors? Since you're so concerned about torque and pressure. Ever hear of water hammer?
Do you need a 2x4 behind the valve? Im guessing you did it this way so you dont burn the 2x4 and its close enough to a 2x4 for strength. Is this correct?
Lol we are fighting with the same issue. Ita slightly different model but it started not mixing right and had cold and only hot if you ran it all the way up but if you ran it back down too far the hot dropped out all together again. We replaced both parts but now it’s mixing all the way through the range but the hot seems less than what it used to be. I have to run it to max to get it hot enough instead of the 9 o’clock position it used be be at normally. I’m wondering if the BPU isn’t positioned right but I put the cold on the right side.
@@go-diy I would but it’s not accessible. Would it hurt to flip the rear pressure carriage just to see what it does? I put the cold on the right like it should be but I questioned if someone reversed the lines also.

Kohler says to use a 2x4 to attach the valve body and one for the spouts.
depending on the tile you could be 1/16 out of the wall, if you use a 2x4 is best to carve a little bit just in case.

That’s what Kohler’s instructions show. Probably not a big deal but would provide more support.

I have installed 5 of these, and always mount the valve body to a 2 x 4.
Great vid! What are using to brush down joints after you solder. I use tinning flux when soldering but don’t brush with anything after.
regular flux (not tinning) wipe the fittings after heating removes the burn color
And they oxidize and turn green later.
This is improper even though popular among plumbers. Make sure to wash off to prevent oxidation and premature leaking.@@evanrodriguez2470

hot left and cold right, up for the shower head and down for tub spout, in this case it was only a shower so I put a plug underneath.
What about when you have water coming out of the showerhead even when it's turned off?
if it is new installation check for proper installation, check the arrows and make sure they are correct, if not then is time to replace the stem.
