TIP: don't waste your time cleaning an egg slicer, a cutting board, and a knife! Put the eggs in a bowl and mash them with a fork. So easy and quick.

I agree, that's a lot of extra mess.

Or just use your fingers to mash them up. I saw you do that once and I have been doing it ever since!

Thousand Island dressing was my mom's very favorite.
The rest of her/my family never liked it. Mom would have loved this. ❤

I used to eat at a cafe with my mom when I was a tween. I’d get a cheeseburger, baked potato with sour cream and chives and a side salad with thousand island dressing. It was the tangy thousand island dressing that kept me craving it. I didn’t realize until I was in my thirty’s that it was made from catsup and mayo. 😂

Just an adendum. I first cook my meat n vegies in the oven. Nice n slow with whatever seasonings i choose. Same counts for vegies. Your choice. Cover with whatever broth the meat is n cook slow. What the meat is cooked done. It should be like a roasted meat. Easy to cut up. This is my soup ingredients. I usually make 2 meals from it. Ill eat this like a roast n vegies for one meal and then use the liquid n meat n vegies for a soup. If needed more broth... add some made with your favorits boulion. If you want to make it more substancial... add barley or rice. If you have a lot of potatoes that you cooked with the neat n vegies.. take out the extra potatoes. These are best used for another meal such as breakfast . You can add rice or any other of starch in a soup with potatoe. Just not too many potatoes. Hope this description works better than my last one. You have to have plenty of soup broth to make this soup as the concentration of flavors formed when the meat n vegies were roasted. Since everything is already cooked . You really only need to wait until your noodles dumplings rice or barley gets cooked. Its a winner of a meal and nourishing to the soul too. Enjoy.

For the simplest Thousand Island, just mix Duke's mayo, ketchup and sweet pickle relish. I think it has plenty of salt already in the mayo. Add a little black pepper if you like, and maybe a sprinkle of paprika.

Get the "no sugar added" Heinz. I used to make my own until that hit the shelves.

My mother made this yrs ago while I was growing up but w/o relish. We often had a wedge of lettuce that she put the dressing on. To this day I often do this instead of buying it.

If I have to buy Thousand Island Dressing I buy Lighthouse brand. It is "almost" home made.

Of all people not to know, don’t use the sharp side of the knife to scrape the cutting board. Turn it upside down and use the the flat side, saves your cutting edge from needing sharpening.
