An amazing 'Bird' to be sure!! My own Father was an Armorer on 17's & 24's, whilst two of my Uncle's flew & survived their Missions!

AMA safety codes would be VIOLATED by such things and it could bring the attention of the BATFE and the FAA which have now decided that model aviation is under 'Their' jurisdiction.
Or Flashing Thunder, which is a Roman candle that shoots explosive charges, not quite m80s, but close.

Hoi I’m a potato
My Grandfather served in WW2 as a radio operator in both the B-17 and the B-29. Reading his journals and memoires, he recalled several flights over Japan, including a rather sketchy run where they had to fly through columns of smoke to avoid AA fire, and his favorite missions which were supply runs to POW camps shortly after the surrender.
Sadly, he died in 1992, but I think he would have enjoyed just how much effort you all went through if he had seen your video.

That was awesome. Wouldn't it be cool if there was a squadron of 6 or 8 B17's flying in formation and being attacked by 10 different fireworks stations? That would be about as great of a re-enactment as is truly possible. These guys get really close to actual combat and I love it!!!
Praise to the quad pilots. They had to fly the same flak while keeping the plane in sight in low-light conditions. Amazing work.
That was mega cool. The first shots with the fireworks looked like war footage showing flak hitting a bomber over a city. The attention to detail shows a real love for your work.

A suggestion, next time you guys try to drop a squadron of paratroopers, with real small parachutes. And shoot them with that AA flak guns again. Pretty exiting i bet.

The grin on my face from that bomb tube setup, that is one of the coolest things Ive seen.
The fact that the fireworks look like Flak makes this even better.
I'm loving all the details on the B-17! The 3d printed rivet/seam maker really took it to the next level!
Hey guys just wanted to let you know that I watched your giant B-17 airplane build after watching it it inspired me to build my own B-17 however after doing research I came across something very interesting I learned that there is a B-17 with a fifth turbo prop so that is what I’m going to be building with a 6 foot fuselage and an 8 foot wingspanStill doing some research on it and cannot wait to get it in the air

@@karelpgbr Well, I did misspeak though. I really meant flak. Unless the fireworks directly hit the plane, it would be pretty safe. The flak coming off of a firework is pretty much just sparks, unlike chunks of metal.
@@133dave133 you mean shrapnel? Plus even if the fireworks didn't hit it the firework explosion would be so hot any of the she's hitting it would leave burn marks.

You guys should really use some bigger mortars like the ones you use on Fourth of July which you reload. The higher power ones would really be interesting to see the damage with a direct hit!
The quads perspective must have been what it was like for a Foo-Fighter engaging with a B-17. While the B-17 id still in tact, please consider reenactment of Foo-Fighter Sightings.

Cool idea. Next time you should definitely throw some lights on the ground turret so the ground isn't completely blacked out from the plane's POV 360 cams. That would make it more visually interesting for us the audience.

I loved it! My civil Air Patrol squadron would love to build a plane like that, however the expense would be a bit prohibitive. But to show up with a 12' plane would be totally freaking awesome
All this model plane has been through is a testament to the design of the b17 , such an amazing aircraft

That is one indestructible B17, if it can survive the Flite Test crew (twice) it can survive anything.

Cool vid, hard to understand what Peter is saying sometimes he talks so fast the words start to merge together. Decreasing the playback speed when he talked helped a bit tho!

My Great Uncle flew a B 17 in the 303rd bomb group in the USAAF during WW2 but was killed when his bomber was shot down over Germany on their 40th mission. This kinda reminds me of that and almost helps me feel closer to him in a way. I would've loved to have shown this to my grandpa. Thanks for keeping these awesome planes and others from WW2 around in a way today. Btw. I am writing this comment when you're going over the details of the plane. Not the shooting it down. Lol
40th mision eh? I remember watching a documentary where if a Bomber crew survived a certain amount of misions they were given the choice to return home. Though I dont remember the exact number. What I do remember is their average life expectancey was waaaay lower. Especially since on most missions they didn't have fighter escorts.
@@SoulCrapper Supposedly. It was officially 25 but that was mostly in movies and he was on his 40th according to the war records.

Fun! Try strapping 5 bottle rockets under each wing of the p-47, with no sticks and paper fins added, using rocket igniters to set up 5 electrical circuits for individual firings. Then you have pairs of tracers with report to fire on command for air to air. I just haven't figured out the multiple circuits yet...Dave's been a great addition and good to see Peter back with some frequency also. Thanks guys!

That was like a flashback to 80's movie 'Heavy Metal"! If you have a Phantom Fireworks near you, they sell a brand of fireworks called 'Lock & Load' that will do the job on B-17 & look awesome doing it.
That battery definitely is the gremlin of the episode .

The fireworks really give it the real feel, as B-17 pilots would see the flashes of anti-aircraft shells exploding all around them when being intercepted. I really like that.

When the apple ripped through the waist gunners position, it had the look of the all American when a Bf-109 had its wing tear through it, leaving it still capable of flying back to Britain.
Upgrade idea - have go-pro's in the turrets, and let them rotate - other people can fpv through them!
There was nothing cooler than seeing fire flow out of the planes vents. Maybe the gunner view shaking while flying through fire works

When I notice the drones in the background capturing footage of the model B17 I keep thinking of WWII pilots reporting "foo fighters". And now I have to wonder if the foo fighters reported in WWII were just drones collecting footage but in real life for some alien who somehow tricked us into fighting the single largest global conflict ever with millions of dead. And the Alien sitting back and just mumbling "totally worth it'.

Always had an adoration for the Memphis Belle. Back when the movie came out I went to see the real plane down in Memphis. Was a great experience as a kid. This is cool though.

I like the B-17's, it was used as the Midway based bombers. There were 15 stationed at Midway.
