The "healing" will start AFTER justice is served! This is like a rapist telling his victim, "Can't we just move one? Why bring the cops into this? Forgive and forget I say."
True.
Seriously, right? Don't set my house on fire and then lecture me on fire safety. For a party that prides itself on "personal responsibility," they do seem to struggle with the concept that actions have consequences.
My dad used to do exactly that to my mom, I'm told. I think about that every time I see these assholes saying to just move on.
(He's dead now, btw)

That’s a good analogy.

I am reminded of the poor old man slammed to the pavement and left to lay in a pool of his own blood. How can anyone claim there's no double standard?
AND the OBVIOUSLY guilty policemen were NOT charged.
A failed coup attempt that goes unpunished is just a training exercise.
It wasn't a coup. It was a Koo. A Koo is what people who didn't get their GED does.
Do to Mar-a-Lago what Trump did to Congress or everyone can just shut up.

Man! Seth Meyers is great at this type of humor. He works in a lot of facts to consider in a very entertaining way. Keep up the good work, Seth - we're watching.
Republicans are always saying "nows not the time" whenever a tragic event occurs because of them. Remember their reaction after every mass shooting? "Nows not the time for gun control policy. We need to heal and be there for the families". Theyre never going to admit that there's a problem if they are part of what caused it.
Jordan, Graham, McAninney, etc all lit the fire & now want "all of us to come together" around the ashes!
Yeah, I heard a Republican Congressman, about an hour after barricading himself behind behind a desk during the attack, say to George Stephanopoulos, "Well, it's too soon to take serious action." Or something like that. The type of things they always say, after mass shootings.
Exactly. "Now's not the time" In hopes that the temperature will get turned down as the days go by and ppl will give up/forget what the fight was about. "Now's the time for healing" An attempt to show compassion and distance themselves and the subject from wrongdoing. It's like saying "He was bad, he knows it, let's be understanding and just come together as one" Placating the moronic base of theirs. It's textbook Republikkkan.
@@trishs706 It's not ashes yet. This is only the beginning, if my intuition is right. That's why they're playing it off. They're trying to continue placating Trump and the country to buy time so that they can be a part of this dictatorship movement. That's exactly what his plan is when he gets out of office. He will keep fanning these flames, and there is plenty more for his followers to burn. I hate this, but I honestly think we saw the start of the second Civil War last Wednesday....
@@lilliangarza4954 I'm not as pessimistic. I'm sure there'll be more "protesting" & sadly more deaths. BUT cultists' problem w/ starting a Civil War is it's them vs EVERY state gov't.
The nutjobs are spread out around country, from diff crazy groups (Proud Boys, QAnon, etc) w/ no cohesion nor legitimate leaders, certainly none who could take over & hold any territory.
My hope is they'll be swiftly rounded up & locked away. We may have to build a new prison for them, but their insanity may take a large % of most unhinged out of population & give us time to recover from worst American "president" ever. That's my hope & expectation.
Wtf is this junior high? They’re worried about losing “followers?” Their priorities are beyond ass backwards.
Their priority is influence and power.

And one of the points Seth makes during the video is poignant... don't complain about losing a batch of Twitter followers when the company just says that it is undergoing a house-cleaning regarding users who are exhibiting extremist views that are in violation of terms of service.
It's the same "deflect and distract" strategy they've been pulling over the last 4 years in defending Trump. Change the conversation, and get people to forget what happened.
It isn’t time for healing it’s time for them to pay for what they did.
Not just Trump, but his Confederate senators must be held accountable as well.
The party that held benghazi hearings for 2 years want to "move on." Does it get more ridiculous??
the party that praised, called for and encouraged riots, insurrection, violence etc is calling for peace and unity. oh the same party that still thinks russia hacked the election. the same party that rioted as a result of trump being elected. the same party that thinks trump making a phone call to certain people is impeachable but biden taking money from burisma to force ukraine to fire the prosecutor investigating them is perfectly fine...heres the deal you all suck, reps and dems, the only difference right now is just how extreme and irrational the dems are being. the political dogma you people engage in is the actual threat to our democracy and right now the fact that so many people are happy and practically on their knees begging the republicans get treated as second class citizens proves just how damaging the political dogma is to this country.
I remember Trump saying "my building is now the tallest" immediately after the 9/11 twin terror strikes. He's that sick.
Normally, I'd fact check this... but this, I'm willing to take this one on face value.
Epic germ
@@worldiknow Its true, just checked it. Its really looking like half of the republicans are sociopaths.
Yes, Trump did say that on live TV on 9/11! And it was a lie, his building was not the tallest!
Oh I remember that.... He has done so many disgusting things for years. How did this man ever get an office? Maybe there should have been a recount then.
Well said, I pushed the like button so hard I cracked my screen, I’m sending this video to everyone I know
Dear Seth Meyers your clear interpretations of events is amazing. Thank you for adding humor too.
At this point who cares if trump learned his lesson... Did we learn ours
EXACTLY...
So true
those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it, let's not repeat history
Good one
I got the feeling that alot of us haven't learned the lesson. Too many people seem to think it's over because Trump lost. The Trump voters who still stick with Trump are a lost cause. The rats that left the sinking ship in the last minute are not really bettter, just a bit smarter than the other idiots. Never forget who those rats are. These people can't be reached, you can just try and keep them quiet and hope they never get power again. They are lost causes. That's why their children need to be better educated and rightwing influence removed. They should feel embarrassed of their parents racism and sociopathic behaviour, so that they don't become like them. For that it is important to make the lifes of everone better and stop doom saying populists from exploiting them. Decency needs to be taught to the average American, not selfishness.
Listening to them talk about the country being divided when they were literally the ones who built the binary in the first place made me scream in frustration while alone in my room.

Love you Seth, you don't sugar-coat any of this!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
The longer this goes unpunished, the more people are going to read this as "Insurrection is fine."
All the Congressmen and the Vice President were all in the building WHEN IT HAPPEND!
I would bet a billion dollars Republicans would impeach and convict a Democrat President in their last 3 days with a straight face. They are straight up soulless garbage.
Funny since the mob was out for Pence's blood.
Yea, not holding these traitors accountable is the BIGGER mistake. Not coming down harshly will only lead to worse crimes in the future and normalize storming federal and state buildings.
Well, violent protests have already gone unpunished in this country, this is why the 6th of January happened. If liberal politicians excuse the actions of BLM and Antifa as the machinations of desperation to affect changes in a corrupt system then the actions of right wing protesters, being far less violent by the way, should be perfectly fine right? They aren't? Why?
This BTW is not me trying to excuse the actions of any protester btw, it is simply to expose your own hypocrisy.
@@mahande88 What hypocrisy??? By saying that BLM was just like the insurrectionists IS you excusing them. BLM was a just cause as poc are protesting an unjust justice and police force. The insurrectionists were fed lies by the Republican party about conspiracy theories that the election was rigged.
"We need to come together.... now is a time for healing."
No, healing happens after these cancerous ghouls are removed from office and television. Consequences for traitors.
It's funny because the Republicans have spent the past 4 years not giving the slightest care in the world for healing and unity. But now that their dear leader is in jeopardy, they're ready for a "moral awakening".
Remember how Republicans 'moved on' right after Benghazi?
They also need to be punished, not just removed. Their lies and crimes have cost billions of dollars and God knows how many lives and suffering .
If all they get is to just leave the office, then no one learns the lesson, and no one has a reason to be better or fear the consequences.
Just listen to Trump's speech before the riot - every other line is about "us versus them". Even his 'go home, we love you' speech was still about "our side versus the other side". And now Republicans are suddenly think taking ANY action will cause division. Sickening.
It's like having a cancerous tumor and the doctor telling you it's time to heal. You're gonna heal by dying yh.

Alone the fact that he's trying to pardon himself is a reason to get him out of office quickly. This is ridiculous
your account is ridiculous
It really is fucking dumb that he can even consider pardoning himself as a valid option.
Should have been written in the rulebook as soon as presidential pardons were a thing that you can't pardon yourself.
If trump does end up trying it everyone should elect to ignore it completely as an invalid pardon (and then hopefully slap him for trying)
@@gamebred_13th86 You butthurt that your god emperor lost the election and now his insurgents failed at a coup.
@@FurryGram He may try to pardon himself, but I think that the Supreme court will eventually over rule it. But President Pence For-A-Day will do it, or "Lets move on and heal" Biden will do it, or Trump will leave the country before the Supreme court rules against him. Either way, don't hold your breath that Trump will ever spend a day in prison for Any crime he has ever committed in his entire life. Many people Are above the law.
From what I understand, there doesn’t seem to be anything that prevents a president from pardoning themselves. However it is obviously a conflict of interest. The reason there is no precedent is because no president has had the gall to try it before. Trump had been looking into the legality of self-pardon for a few months. Does anyone think he won’t try at this point?
Republicans after Benghazi: "Let's have a million investigations over the next thousand years, at taxpayer expense."

Hey hey... could be a bad girlfriend too ;) 2021, let's not gender'ize :)
Seth is always at his best when the political situation is at its worst.
How about we give four late night hosts a year each of the presidency and see where we are. They have been pretty good. Democrat apologists i think, too often, but generally better than nearly any other source. Occasional laughs are not a downside.
Love you!!!!!
"And you leave her alone.....and her, and her" 🤣🤣🤣....love that one
Yeah let's calm things down by calling Democrats radical, Lyndsey
They don’t understand irony or self awareness.
Graham is hitching his wagon to the wrong crowd, and telling the wrong people to calm down. The footage where Graham is walking with his security detail in the airport receiving a constant verbal barrage from those going home from the Capitol raid shows he must be confused on this... or just lying. He might be willing to put up with these unhinged people so long as it benefits his career via voter suppression, intimidation by proxy, etc.
When I heard lyndsey's speech from the live feed from the Capitol, I figured he might finally turn to a logical conclusion he was backing the wrong side. Logic out the door.

I feel like Im the only one annoyed with “quit or we’ll impeach.” Just start the process; if he quits, he quits.
exactly, that's how it happened with nixon, they just started, a senate friend gave him a heads up and he resigned
Actually, it was Invoke Amendment 25 or we'll impeach.
He needs to be impeached regardless of any other action.
They need to impeach him before then. I know it's probably cliche...but how sweet would it be to tell him "you're fired", and also here's a legal notice.
And bar him from holding any other federal office. That’s the biggest reason to impeach, even if the senate takes a while to try him.
Oh my, Seth is so funny :)
Love it! First the soothing music and then the F bomb. I'd been 'bombing' the screen with Jordan, Grahams and Lankford for the previous 5 minutes. Thank you, Seth!
“The great lesson of History is that nothing is ever learned.” - Aldous Huxley, author of “Brave New World”
I'm reaching for my soma
Please don't remind me of that book; I had to read it in English class, and while it has an important message warning about the future, the book itself is just so bad. The plot summary on Wikipedia is better-written, and Aldous Huxley himself said he would've gone back and rewritten the last chapter from scratch if he could've.
So true. So true!

Just watch Demolition Man. Lol
Once again, they are afraid of him. How sad they still let him do whatever he wants. Grow some balls Republicans
That's difficult for them, right now. They've lost most popular support, over Trump, over the last four years. The misled, extremist, reality-denying Trump supporters are now the most important social category supporting the republicans. They loose those, they can say goodbye to a strong position in congress and the senate for probably a decade or more, whereas Trump can go on and establish his own party, and get more seats than the republicans.
I think he has dirt on all of them and he is going to use it to get out jail free...
They're the ones creating the division and pushing the conspiracy theories to stay in power. They are not afraid of the fascist scums, it suits them to have them around and they think they have control of the leash. If history teaches us anything, it is that they are wrong and the leash will break eventually.
They r afraid of losing votes and/or getting hanged (eg Rioters now want to hang Sump's most loyal knee-padder, Mike Dense. Nothing is sacred. Ur either with Dump or u against him.
He didnt do anything. Can't say the same for the demoRATS!! Whats there to hide? LOL Exactly. Liars and cheaters dont want you to see evidence because they know the truth. Innocent people let it all out like Trump did during his impeachment.
God bless you for just saying the trut- Seth Meyers about these maniacs.
Well said and so funny! You are an essential service during this period. Us Canadians are following and hoping for a peaceful transfer of Power...with impeachment and all other necessary processes to follow the law
Can you believe we've had to endure 4 years of this insanity and criminality? I feel like i've aged 300 years.
I think you're missing a digit.
Yeah well, if I was a woman you’d still get it. I’ve aged so much I had to take my face off my profile pic. I’m hoping Biden’s win along with some Olay Regenerist, St Ives and Queen Helene will bring me back to a pre-Trump admin look or at least take 10 years off.
@@mjallen1308 lmao. Thanks for the compliment but the picture is pre-trump. I'm in a sort of reverse dorian gray situation where the photo gets younger and I age like a mummy. I'm stealing that beauty regimen stat.
@@ColinMctavish yw and I def get it! We all struggled to make it through and thank whichever god who blessed us with this outcome. And please! Take it! It works! I got it from my mom. It’s her routine. She’s black and you know what they say, black don’t crack. I think she’s actually looks much younger despite the Trump presidency.
Oh no...yall ran amuck for 4 years and when the ish hit the fan, now you want unity and healing??? Sure! Right after accountability.
