I love how they’re only contesting the presidential election results, and not the Senate or House, even though they were all voted for on the same ballot
EXACTLY!! If the democrats really wanted to take all the power they would have flipped the senate and padded the house of Rep. The presidency itself is little more than a figure head position used as a mouthpiece for where the real power lies. We need a 3rd and 4th party in this country that have real power and influence or else they need to enact Term Limits on all these jackasses. If you think it's bad now it's going to get way worse as the years go on.

Bill Maher has been railing against the electoral college for 20 years, wanting it abolished.
Will it ever happen? No. The reason being the ridiculously undemocratic way that the Senate is structured, with each state receiving 2 senators regardless of their population. California has 40 million people, Alaska less than 1 million. How is that democratic?
Finding the votes necessary to pass any meaningful constitutional legislation is basically impossible, especially with the supreme court judges in place. Limiting their tenure would be another good move that won't happen, either.

@@emort6 Big City votes don't overwhelm rural voters precisely because they have a larger degree of power than they deserve federally. Look at the huge red interior of the map of the US - that shows how much local, state, and federal power rural voters have. Would either party dare to reduce or eliminate agricultural subsidies? It would never happen.
If the US was a true democracy, there would have been consecutive Democratic Party presidents for decades, they would dominate the senate, and nearly all of the supreme court. They don't.

And that leads to the insanity that is "single issue voters". "I don't care that women's rights are taken away, that children are caged at the border, that we're incarcerating millions of people for trivial crimes -- I only care about MUH GUNS!" So they vote for a Republican platform based on that one issue that they truly got scared about even if they disagree with everything else the Republicans stand for, and often even if they fully realize that everything else is bullshit -- _their_ favorite issue is the "real" problem and _that's_ the one that we really have to worry about!
I blame a large part of it on the US electoral system and in particular the fact that there can really only be two parties. It means that everybody is forced to pick a side and you have to support your side no matter what -- there is no in between place (at least none that anybody cares about). You can't be pro-gun _and_ pro-abortion in the US. Its just not possible, at least politically. You either have to be pro-gun (Republican) or pro-abortion (Democrat) and that's it. You can't even acknowledge the fact that most Democrats are not specifically anti-gun (most either don't care that much or are even pro-gun). You can't acknowledge the fact that most Republicans are not anti-abortion (and similarly, they may not be specifically pro-choice but that's not the same thing -- they may just not consider it an important issue either way). You _must_ be one or the other, and you're shunned if you even try to straddle the line (mostly by Republicans because their propaganda insists that anything other than party-line Republican ideals will ruin the country -- that's not very adaptable).

I'm in Qatar still now, Trump almost condoned an outright invasion of a US ally with US Airforce CENTCOM in a ridiculous bid to make Qatar join in on the warmongering and silence one of the most free press outlets in the region because they're critical of his buddies in Saudi and Israel. The next your president plays around with letting Saudi invade your location where you are as a US citizen without even so much as a proper heads up to the embassy and maybe not even to the troops. Trump is a dangerous and reckless warmonger that was only saved from wars by the good judgement and reserve of countries like Iran that normally aren't expected to be the adult country in the room. That's how far the US has fallen under Trump.

The problem is most of them are Trump worshipers or at the least willing to back him to get what they want because they are just as corrupt at he is.
