This is unfortunate ! It would be a good thing... It is probably due, in large part, to the bad press that all "Full Motion Videos", photorealistic and rotoscopic games have received. A realistic approach with real models has always been an interesting way to bring together a cinematic experience and the interactivity of games. Unfortunately, even now there are people and media who react badly to a good implementation of this approach, without consideration for the technical complexity and artistic challenge it represents. A game like Need for Speed is a good exemple of a well executed integration of film and cinematographic ambiance in a game. Above all, Quantum Break is a major title in this aspect and an excellent game.

Nowadays i'm really seeing a bit of a split between people, some prefer 3D Gaming while others like the 2D gaming interface as it used to be (same count for visiting movies at the cinema) , but i myself love it all, technology is amazing, and diving into the history of 'how they did it' can bring up amazing new facts, just like this and other videos. :)

We have something we called now "motion capture".
Of course the only person looking like he knows what he's doing is Liu kang
Jonnhy Cage also seems a martial artist.
@@igormorgado Yeah, Daniel Pesina, who plays Johnny, Scorpion, and Sub Zero here is a triple black belt and had won a bunch of martial arts tournaments even before MK1 came out. These days he runs a martial arts studio.
Yes,Ho Sung Pak has better moves than the other actors, including Daniel Pesina, who also is a good martial artist.
@@ericjpdt And also He worked with Jackie Chan in the Drunken Master II
@@antonnybraga5929 Holy shit, he worked in one of the best, if not THE best martial arts movie evaaaaarr!!!
Remember some kid brought his gameboy to school in the 1st grade with MK. Changed my life forever.
So epic, Brings back the times I used to sprint to arcades after school, Miss those days
Can't sleep anymore, this is too exciting!!! To see the real characters, and it's the damn real thing!!! Hail for uploading this video.

Most, if not all of it has been on youtube for a while but i love your enthusiasm nonetheless ;)
@@RetroGamesBoy78 UA-cam didn't exist when i was a kid, we were living these games as they came out, can you remember how slow those uppercuts were when you played this on the gameboy?
ua-cam.com/video/y0DE14j2o-Y/v-deo.html
The arcade version was so cool, but very difficult and allowed you to rip someone's spine out, the Nintendo versions were rather heavily censored, as a result of playing the games rather than diving into the history i've never looked into this until now. I guess that's different for a retro gamer like you.
I am glad to see that one of my favourite childhood videogame was made with so much fun
Never thought I'd see Raiden on a treadmill.
I was a 12 yr old drooling on the screen when this came out at the arcade. I never though I'd see this making of video showing the actors doing the moves. I thought they'd have like those little "motion capture" points all over their bodies...guess not. Super insane nostalgia anyway!
This seriously brings a tear to my eye. I just dont know why.
I totally get it.
Because today we get a billion soulless, linear and/or overly handheld games with day one patches, 10x DLCs and overpriced Season Passes.
Nostalgia

Because your mom gay and you too
From such humble beginnings, to one of the most Epic Franchises ever. Unbelievable.
I remember how i tried to recreate every sonya move when i was a little girl!, shes the best ❤
Now i don't feel weird matching Goku's stretching moves before a fight.
Director:
Ok time to film fatalities. I will show it once!
I see what you did there͡° ͜ʖ ͡ -
Just wait 9 month for babylity
ok.. finish it the work and let's get out of here and let's have a friendship time..
You can show it more than once, but not take it more than once 😏
So simple, still so awesome. SF The Movie had a third party company hired to do the motion capture and failed miserably. Meanwhile, Boon had everything. Well done Mr Boon. You did it!
This was so advanced for the time, they did motion capture before it became a thing in gaming development.
Actually, this is digitalizing, mocap is when those movements are applied to a 3D model.
@@basurerodej8501 don't have to be smart about it

Elizabeth Malecki. You're welcome.
I agree shes fine..

Wow... All those iconic uppercut follow-throughs!! 😮
I think that MK with actors was better than with computer... With digitized actors gave another feeling and was more realistic. It was better 4 me
right.
Yea, I sucked at back then, ...but you're right. I've never wanted to play a game so badly again. Just to recapture the vibe of how innovative and 'contacty' it was.
Just as a child, we believed more in miracles. But it's a good idea: make authentic MK. Ed Boon, I hope u read this!
Absolutely. The game had a creepy feel using real actors. I hope they do this style again with MK!
Totally agree with you.
You're watching history.... amazing
This is like going inside an old building for the very first time that you've previously only been passing by your entire life.
Seeing familiar things from a different perspective.
The background music is so 90's video games
I think its the original Mortal Kombat* Soundtrack.

Kind of wish we had sound so we could hear the stage directions given to each actor.
Still awesome to see.
They should make a documentary about this. Really impressive work considering they were working with what they had back then. Sonya's and LiunKang actors are wonderful
Sonja Blade's Uppercut 💪
Kano is a nice guy in real life. Ironic.
He touches hearts
Kano: oh cmon luv think about it
Grapefruit Moon literally ...
Kano is a mercenary not a menace. Lol.
A random UA-cam short showed some of this and I'm so glad me just randomly scrolling found this gem... Amazing behind the scenes look at one of THEE best and my favorite fighting game series

Johnny Cage is very mature now but even though his old, asshole times, he was helping other people perform better and teaching them martial art. Fucking legend!
Don't know what I just watched at 2:40. I just assume it was for the torpedo.
Kano was riding the lightning
Daniel Pesina (Johnny Cage) and Richard Divizio (Kano) wanted to use tag team in the game but it didn’t happened cz of the limited of space/ memory for in the game. Can you imagine they waited with that until MK9 (2011)
MKdutchkollector81 and unfortunately never did it again
Oh so that’s probably why there are endurance rounds in MK1.
