I can't believe you put Rogue and Gambit above one of the grossest incest relationships in comic history. Rogue and Gambit's "problems" come from something neither of them has any control over unlike literally all the other pairings in this list, actually the very fact they managed to make their relationship work (on and off) despite not being able to do something as basic as skin-to-skin contact demonstrates how strong their chemistry and trust and love for each other is, it doesn't make their relationship dysfunctional in any way.
And Thanos and Death are just an honorable mention? Wow. She dumps him for another guy (Deadpool, of all people) and he kills half of the universe to impress her and win her back. Uhm, yea.
Can’t believe they thought Rogue and Gambit were a worse couple than LITERAL SIBLINGS! Those two are my favorite couple and, in some of the comics Rogue learns to control her powers so they can touch freely. Most of their on-again-off-again quarrels were because Rogue was afraid of hurting Remy. A girl should be so lucky as to have a loyal, romantic, handsome, bilingual like Remy LeBeau
Agreed, I would list those issues (there's a lot) or send a link that proves that Rogue is very luckily to have Gambit in her life, but it will get shadow banned.
Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch was a terrible choice and it shouldn’t have happened in the Ultimate Universe I would’ve liked it better if they were experiments of HYDRA(as a big change for their respective characters).Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch later escaping from the terrorist organization after being freed by their father Magneto.Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch would then see Magneto as the same individuals who were controlling them,Later helping The Defenders(this universe version of The Avengers) take down Magneto.
God I love Gambit/Rogue so much. Never really thought of them as dysfunctional but I do like their flirtatious fighting and banter. It's so funny and cute lol. I also love Batman/Catwoman, that's a crazy relationship. Yeah, it doesn't get more dysfunctional (and abusive) thank Joker/Harley.
Gambit and Rogue relationship is really hard to keep going seeing as though touching her is something that isn’t allowed in their relationship but focusing back on these two.Gambit would be more of a professional thief working for Kingpin or Hammerhead or Tombstone seeing as though he is a professional thief and would be a perfect fit.
I don't think Gambit & Rogue's relationship is dysfunctional. They truly love each other despite having disadvantages on both sides. And they know it. I personally think this is what makes a relationship even more stronger. You don't always have to be physical, the amount of understanding is what builds it.
Funny...my favorite couples are in this list... Batman & Catwoman, Rouge & Gambit, Daredevil & Elektra, and to be honest, I don't think they're completely dysfunctional, their differences is what make them a great complement to each other.
What the hell is Rogue/Gambit doing here? A guy which can't touch a girl that has issues beyond their solution and still keepgoins is absolutelty romantic.
Good question, note how they don't list a single reason for them being "dysfunctional". The fact that Gambit always stayed with Rogue, never left her, even when they couldn't make skin to skin contact, that's romantic, not dysfunctional.
@@404ServerError The reasoning that Watch Mojo put here is dangerously purist. So a man which loves a deficient woman is on a dysfunctional relationship?
I'd say it was 99% from him, but she did have a temper and did some physical violence in return (not just self defense). I can't recall the comic or reason, but I seem to remember her hitting him in the head with a cinderblock.
I used to read Marvel almost exclusively, but it was a surprise to me too. Somehow I missed that one. I wish I'd continued to miss it. I would have nominated Husk and Archangel for an honorable mention. That was some messed up stuff.
I've always loved rogue and gambit together, and always feel sad when they have problems. The recent gambit and rogue comic where they end up together made me very happt T.T
It's supposed to be clear that joker is the embodiment or symbol of evil crazy, not crazy in love crazy. His main purpose is to bring chaos to batman or make him turn into the bad guy. Even past batman movies showed that. Giving them romance is more like bait for women to watch it. PS: Jerad Leto was not the best Joker but, he did a good job with the acting. I blame the script writers and the director
because the main writer for it went into creator breakdown after his son died, the worst part about the scarlet witch quicksilver thing was that it was potrayed as a good thing.
I don't know that it was portrayed as good, I remember Wasp Taking Captain America aside and being like "No, quicksilver LOVES her" and him being like "Wtf, that is gross!" and then one issue later she is killed and it is tragic. No one on the team is supportive of the relationship, and the audience was only aware of it for 25 or so pages.
Thanos and Death... are just bad for everyone. LOL. The fact that the only way he feels he can impress her is to bring her more death.... is pretty dysfunctional if you ask me. Especially after she starts having a thing for Deadpool. XD They should have been higher on that list. XD
The title might say 10 dysfunctional superhero relationships. But let's be honest, It's top 10 dysfunctional relationships from DC or Marvel, cause that's most people care about and gets the most views. The super hero part is just a vague excuse to discount Archie, which is probably one of the most notable dysfunctional relationships outside of the big two.
Scott and Emma was a disgrace to comics. Should never have been written. It was a trash relationship, especially the whole "Emma is better than Jean!" thing they tried to sell.
I think Dr.Manhattan and Silk Spectre II deserves an honourable mention.Imagine trying to stay with someone who is not only a literal walking, talking morphing, unstoppable God-like death machine but was also a simple man who has then lost his way of understanding human emotions and empathy in general. Definitely deserved to be in this video ^_^
+KingTAkeem 83 I wish it was an earthquake. It was a bomb that turned out to be a teleporter, but then it just exploded instead. Lian Harper died along with a good chunk of Star City. TheBlues32 Yeah man it's like once "Arrow" started taking off DC decided they made Roy too awesome. So they NUKED Roy's life so Ollie could shine brighter by comparison!
For anyone who watches the TV show Gotham, they'd know that Bruce Wayne and Cat (Selina Kyle) grew up being friends with her constantly breaking into Wayne Manor to see him or to steal something. #2 is very justified at its spot in my mind.
Professor X and Magneto should have been an honorable mention....never said it had to be a romantic relationship (even though it still has the potential to be romantic in the movie verse)
I feel like Daredevil and Elektra should be way higher up on this list. The two of them definitely had their ups and downs but one of the most prominent parts of their relationship was wanting the other to be what they're not. And both of them lying to themselves about how they really feel. And that's more than I can say for most of the others on this list.
Hank Pym needs to be way higher on the list. Not only was he a domestic abuser, he also created Ultron and blamed Tony Stark for it. The man was a narcissist and psychopath. He was the most evil hero in comic history. He was actually crazier than the Joker.
So, how does Johnny Storm make the list but they ignore Mr. Notso Fantastic and Sue Storm? He abused her emotionally to the point her mind snapped and brought her back from mind control.
I really don't see what makes Gambit and Rogues' relationship "Dysfunctional". Cause they can't have skin-to-skin contact? I'd say that shows just how strong their love for each other truly is.
Exactly, it really shows just how desperate WatchMojo was with them on this list. But they did another were they're listed as one of the best... you can't have it both ways Mojo...
Watchmojo: like Hmm whats popular right now? Suicide Squad with Joker and Harley Watchmojo: Hmm and what list would they hold the number one spot? Top 10 Dysfunctional Relationships in comics Watchmojo: Perfect! Make a list around that and put them as number 1.
What about Magneto and Mystique? He dropped her like a bad habit when she lost her powers trying to save him, and she in turn sang like a bird to the other side.
+TheBlues32 Well, I wouldn't say bullshit just yet, because the reasoning is pretty sound, one Joker for every Era of comics, (Gold, Silver, and Bronze/Modern respectively) but I think she's done with him for good, because she finally was able to step away from him when he tried to manipulate her. Plus, she's got a stable thing with Poison Ivy, (those vines must be kinky ;) ) and she's really progressing as her own character.
Caleb Robinson No, it IS bullshit. There is no way Batman never noticed. And then suddenly, right when it's revealed, there's an incident where Joker was seen committing a crime while also being locked in Arkham? How is it that it never happened before? Maybe if the others had died and another took their place, that would make sense, but at least two of them are still alive.
@@404ServerError exactly, and the pictures they showed were them literally comforting each other, there's a difference between a dysfunctional relationship and a realistic one that has its ups and downs.

Batman : The Animated Series was better than most modern Batman movies. It had great voice actors, well written characters, beautiful Noir inspired animation, brilliant plots and subplots, touches of comedy and dark comedy to lighten the dark themes. I used to think I only loved the show as a child because I low stadnards, but when I watched it as an adult I loved it just as much as when I was a child.
They forgot to mention that Harley doesn't put all of her heart into the abusive relationship with the Joker, she's also in a relationship with Poison Ivy, who actually cares about her.
I'm not saying that is functional. I'm saying that classifying Harley-Joker relationship as dysfunctional is toning down the real level of abuse, violence and danger that it really is. Look at the other couples, they have some emotional involvement, they're dysfunctional BUT have some feelings, some care, with each other, even if it's little. Harley-Joker don't have that! Joker abuses her constantly, and in many forms, and she's completely obsessed with him, in a really bad way. I just what people to start saying the thing as it REALLY is, and not "romanticizing" something so destructive as Harley-Joker obsession.
And I'm not saying that is normal, I'm just saying that Dysfunctional relationship is not the same as an abusive relationship. There's difference and that must be told! Just look at the level of care, or feelings, that the other couples of the list have with each other and look the relationship of Harley-Joker, it's not the same thing!
Jughead was also Captain Hero, and Reggie was Evil Heart, more an antihero than villain as he helped Pureheart (Archie) beat Super villain. Betty became Super Teen. In one story Veronica became the 50 foot tall Veronica a giant.
Dog Flamingo The art is bad, the dialogue is worse and the stories get more and more idiotic. And they do awful things with the characters. Except Ultimate Thor, he's still pretty much a bad ass.
While Hank Pym of the Ultimate Universe was a complete scumbag I really hate how regular Hank Pym gets the label of abuser in comics when he hit Jan once while having a mental Breakdown. He was wrong and went to prison and deserved so for all he did with that and antics with the Avengers at the time. But he did his time and has since try to make amends. Peter Parker hit a pregnant MJ while having a mental breakdown during the clone saga and isn't labeled an abuser. But then again Peter lucked out it happened in a story most try to forget.
They've since gone on to make it canon that Hank Pym is bipolar. Considering he now has a mental disability, that should go to making him seem even more sympathetic, but it doesn't seem to be happening.
try reading a comic sometime....... Scott and Emma trusted each other more then they ever trusted anyone, they shared the dark void!! even the stuff that they kept from each other like x force they came clean with each other after it ate at them, they both had dark sides they hid from other people but not each other
How did Thanos and Death not get a numbered ranking? As soon as it got to the top 5 I was thinking, "It must be the next one. No? Well then it must be the next one."
That was a short-term fling so it wasn't included for this list. They're on again and off again anyway and Stark doesn't like being in a long-term relationship given his millionaire playboy nature.
Rogue and Gambit classify better like a "forbidden/tragic lovers" archetype than a "dysfunctional couple" one. Most of the time, both are emotionally mature, secure of themselves and their feelings for each other; the bond betwen them did´nt born of a screwed up situation (even when, as marginals with complex problems, both of them came of pretty screwd up backgrounds, their mutual atracction and subsequent love did not born from that problems but despite of them); and also they share values, goals, lifestyles, friends and experiences (qualities that usually we don´t see in the "dysfunctional couple" archetype). Certainly, same as a dysfunctional couple, they past more time worried about the things that separete them than being happy together; but (and it is an important diference) what comes betwen them is more the "fate" (in the sense of classical tragedy struture) that their own incapacity of making function the things; because, even when their biggest problem (Rogue´s power) is an internal factor, they (more she than he) tend to act around it as it were an external force; and in almost every occasion in wich they actually recognise it as an internal (physical-existencial characteristic) issue, they manage to make it part of their most soulfully and maturely romantic moments
I can't believe you put Rogue and Gambit above one of the grossest incest relationships in comic history.

Well, Gambit is getting his solo movie... So, here's hoping for Rogue to hop on board along the way...
Rogue was been wearing a power blocker in 2018, they got married and she's in complete control of her powers (see Mr. and Mrs. X series).

Daredevil-Elektra
Cyclops-Emma Frost
Wolverine-Jean Grey
Hank Pym-Janet Van Dyne (for number 1)

Thank you for adding the screwed up relationship between Joker and Harley. Though in the comics, she has less desire to go back to the Joker.
Rogue and Gambit are my favorite characters ahh sigh
I ship them all... Except #6, #3 and #1
Hey WatchMojo, dysfunctional and ABUSIVE is not the same thing! Harley and Joker relationship is ABUSIVE!
So then you think it functions perfectly well? If not, then by definition it's dysfunctional.
Is abuse of that level normal for a relationship? If not, it fits the bill of being dysfunctional
I just what people to start saying the thing as it REALLY is, and not "romanticizing" something so destructive as Harley-Joker obsession.
a dysfunctional relationship is a relationship that is not normal. That level of abuse is not normal.
And I'm not saying that is normal, I'm just saying that Dysfunctional relationship is not the same as an abusive relationship. There's difference and that must be told! Just look at the level of care, or feelings, that the other couples of the list have with each other and look the relationship of Harley-Joker, it's not the same thing!
the joker keeping his bitch inline since 97 XD
hahahahahahahahaha
92*
Joker a real nigga that's why
Pimp slapped her ass
lol
Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were being watch by Wolverine, who was implied to be their day in that part of the comics. Shit was werid, very werid.
Jughead was also Captain Hero, and Reggie was Evil Heart, more an antihero than villain as he helped Pureheart (Archie) beat Super villain. Betty became Super Teen. In one story Veronica became the 50 foot tall Veronica a giant.
We should include the Joker and Harley here, even if they aren't superheroes. Just so the cancerous Suicide Squad fandom will finally stop.
Oh shit, I just saw number 1.
The most dysfunctional is Robbie Rotton and Sportacus
In ultimates Pym beats wasp and Cap confronts him and makes him turn to giant man and beats the shit out of him
Good on Cap.
Then he just lets the guy back on the team.
Pride Guy Well, shit....
Dog Flamingo The art is bad, the dialogue is worse and the stories get more and more idiotic. And they do awful things with the characters. Except Ultimate Thor, he's still pretty much a bad ass.
Pride Guy It seems that they are doing things just to be controversial and shocking, rather than for the characters or story.
Tryin' to understand how a relationship riddled in abuse and torture like Giant-Man and Wasp are somehow not as bad as Catwoman and Batman?
Harley quinn and the joker and Ant man and wasp are the most dysfunctional
that Joe mad artwork is LOVELY
Since when is the f*cking Joker a superhero?!!
In the description it says they also included supervillains
kw1421 Oh, but then it doesn't really make sense, now does it? Why didn't they name it "Top 10 Dysfunctional Comic Book Relationships" right away?
+The Pizza Delivery Guy
Cuz then they'd have to include the likes of Archie and such
Sjono Which would only make the list better.
At the beginning he said super heroes and super villains
Figures Ant-Man and Wasp are the thumbnail image.....It will *NEVER* go away, will it!?
Joker and harley together makes me sick, I can't stand it anymore.
..... at least harley quinn finally kicked the joker's ass, something I wanted to see her do for a very long time.
How come
+Andres Almonte u should know, on a count how mean and abusive he is towards her and I don't like it at all.
When he said villain I yelled "HARLEY QUINN AND PUDDIN!!!"😂💖
In the movie Age Of Ultron, I could tell that Pietro was being slightly intimate with Wanda, now hearing this ik that it's TWINCEST
I'm so glad there is footage from DCAU used here
ew wtf quicksilver and scarlet witch...why would people write that in
Because incest relationship and polygamy is always fascinating to see and try to understand how they work.
gross
RBGGaming shock value
I enjoyed this video. That's it, nice and simple.
oh fuck im early af... three seconds ago jesus..

my desire to live
lol
I really hope you're not serious 😅
no your on time
So true tbh
same 👏👏👏👏
7:19 "once you touch it you will understand" xD ....I don't know why I laughed
+Darragh Tate Smells like bullshit to me.
at least in the film, Hank is a lot more dignified and is shown that he loved his wife
+Nyce Well it does make sense
From what I remember (Avengers ~201-216?), he hit Jan more than once, and was verbally & emotionally abusive to her for a few months or so.
oh that top two, just cant be denied xC
WTF!!!Batman and catwoman are on this least, but not Batman and batgirl??? 😑 😑
Anan Mansour batman and batgirl I think weren't an official relationship
"Come with me, once you touch it, you will understand!" I should try that line sometimes :D
Since when were the Joker and Harley Quinn "superheroes"?
I guess they meant "super" and not just heroes they're really bad with naming lmao
they said they were including villains and heroes in the beginning
Harley, being on the Suicide Squad, could "almost" count as a superhero
10:51 joker been pimpin pimpin since pimpin pimpin been pimpin pimpin
"once you touch it you'll understand."
thats how i get all the girls
try reading a comic sometime....... Scott and Emma trusted each other more then they ever trusted anyone, they shared the dark void!! even the stuff that they kept from each other like x force they came clean with each other after it ate at them, they both had dark sides they hid from other people but not each other
Thank you, I've always tought that they are really cool together
batman and catwoman shouldn't be #2 and where's Hawkeye and Mockingbird or Green Arrow and Black Canary
Arrow and Canary isn't that dysfunctional. They got married, Arrow killed Prometheus, they got divorced. The end.
+Darragh Tate She did get mad at him when she found out he had a kid. Because he got raped by Shado yet she still considered it cheating.
remind you of anyone?
+Darragh Tate he did cheat on her though
Same here.
I really enjoyed this list.
Was expecting Superman and Batman.
How did Thanos and Death not get a numbered ranking? As soon as it got to the top 5 I was thinking, "It must be the next one. No? Well then it must be the next one."
So No Tony stark and Pepper ? Ok
Ikr😢
because they arent together in the comics
That was a short-term fling so it wasn't included for this list. They're on again and off again anyway and Stark doesn't like being in a long-term relationship given his millionaire playboy nature.
In the comics Pepper is happily married to his body guard, Happy Hogan. Stark and her never got serious
when did that marriage happen?
The Joker and Harley Quinn are not superheroes. WTF!
They also included super villains
But one member of the couple is/was a hero in the entries that had a villain.
Harley, once the Gotham Girls era started, is considered an anti-hero.
Damn! the shayera hol from justice league /justice league unlimited is beautiful!
