Springfield Operator: Best 1911 for the Money?

  • JJ's first handgun purchase was Springfield's 1911 TRP. Back then $1200 was considered high end. The gun serves him well to this day, but there's little doubt that the 1911 platform has evolved slightly. Its Operator is an excellent example. It has all the features anyone needs, looks subtly CIA-ish and it just shoots. And the most incredible part? It's slightly less expensive that it was back then, thanks to the proliferation of state of the art CNC machines and manufacturing refinement. Every law abiding citizen needs a 1911 in JJ's opinion. If you have the money, this one is it.

    Good looking gun. Only 9 rounds is tough for those who miss a lot.

    Probably the best choice for the price. I'd say the next step up in price and best choice would be a Dan Wesson.
