Very cool offering from Springfield!! Years ago I was looking hard at a Dan Wesson Specialist and ended up with a Les Baer. Nice to see other folks are seeing the semi-custom 1911. Nice review! I like the blacked out version better than the FDE versions they've been showing. I love the fact it comes with the Pelican case. I might have to trade in a Kimber for this this one.

Late last year I recently picked up the SPRINGFIELD ARMORY OPERATOR, RONIN, and the VICKERS TACTICAL MASTERCLASS all in 45 acp. Been looking for the TRP and I just found it. The only problem is which model. Thanks for sharing.
I have the Garrison instead of the Masterclass, otherwise we are the same. I do not keep what I do not like. All my Springfield Armory 1911 Pistols have been Excellent. I also own 2 SS Mil Spec…. Bang For The Buck Winners! I think my Subscribers should buy any of them. Stay Safe to all.

I like the finish on it. Reminds me of my Dan Wesson 1911's duty finish. That said that grip safety seemed poorly tuned. From your vid and angle it looked like it engaged past the halfway point which isn't ideal. It's the same pricepoint as my DW Specialist with similar features so tough sell to me since the DW is arguably the best 1911's before custom.

Yeah, it’s a production gun this Springfield... So the grip safety is what it is. DW I will say is definitely better for the money because of all the forged small parts they use compared to the SA TRP being full of MIM parts.

I missed the original airing of this video. May I ask what holster you use for the T.R.P. I'm picking up my 4.25 lightweight version of that this week and can not find a holster. I don't know if a regular commander holster will accommodate the rail. Thank You. P.S. how's retirement going?
Got the stainless garrison,the ronin and the operator.this looks very similar to my operator with VZ grips and Wilson bulletproof magwell.I know this is a step up from the operator though!

I really love this model but at the price point of 2k it's DW specialist territory. I'm torn as to which one as the better value
The Black DW Specialist by a nose in Quality, because of the Forged small parts. 100% Honesty is the only way to fly. The bright metal hammers have rust issues. They have to be Black coated.
I have been buying Springfield Armory 1911’s because, I think the TRP will have a price advantage and their Customer Service is much better if you have any issues. DW Customer Service is difficult to deal with from a “Real Life” experience. I sold half my Dan Wessons 1911’s 5 years ago to purchase more Les Baer and Springfield Armory 1911’s. Now you have all the information over the last 5 or 6 years from my experience. Both are Excellent 1911 Pistols, the Customer Service is much better at Springfield Armory. 😎🇺🇸👍

Both companies seem to do a very good job of the finish. I feel very confident with the looks of this New Springfield Armory TRP, and I plan to keep it long term. I do not own the DW Specialist at all any longer. I sold my Stainless Specialist and Young Beretta or his mom own the Duty Finish DW Specialist. I have not heard any complaints on the Duty Finish Specialist. Lastly, I would note for you that I have had one bad experience with DW customer service with my 715 357 Magnum. I own 7 Springfield Armory 1911’s and have not had any issues to return one, but I have always heard their customer service was excellent from other owners. That is worth a consideration.
Now you have all the information I have. I think the Black TRP or Black Duty Finish DW Specialist would be Awesome and a lifetime 1911!

Excellent info, thank you! I've had my Specialist since 2015 and love it. My father might even love it more. I'm trying to decide on a retirement gift for him. Now that I know DW brought it back, it's between that and the TRP. Thanks Sr!

Too high of a price , I remember getting a new trp with the 3/4 rail for ~1400 . Also a new professional you could order for 2200 direct from SACS with a 2 year wait .

Its the only 1911 I would buy.nothing else.the only thing I dont like is the trigger guard.if it was squared not rounded and a lil bit longer this gun would be perfect.
I know you guys are not happy about the rustic g hammers of Dan Wesson, but I feel a specialist is still about this. Jmo
The Black Specialist should be OK, the silver one I would watch. The reference is more of just a warning that it could happen. There are lots of ways around it, my worst Dan Wesson rusty hammer is on my 45 Vigil Commander. I will have the folks at Wilson Combat help me out with a Black forged hammer, and a refinish of the DW 1911 Vigil in 2025. I like it as a “Carry 1911”, so why not put a little money into it. Just my thought process, as everyone is a little different. 😎🇺🇸👍.

Nice gun but I don’t like the takedown. You have to use a tool to unscrew the guide rod…. I don’t like having to use tools to take a pistol down for basic cleaning. Thanks for the video though. Please do more Tisas gun reviews. They are more affordable but still well built.
I like the set up. The case it comes in. The extra mags and the whole thing is perfect in my opinion. Looks amazing great video.

Beretta what would you get the TRP or Dan Wesson Specialist?
It is a very close comparison in regards to features and benefits. The Names and Manufacturers are both hugely respected in the industry. The DW Specialist is all forged small parts last I checked. The TRP is built like a Les Baer, small parts are not forged steel. Otherwise, get both in Black and you will not have rust issues with the DW. No Rust issues with Springfield in the 7 or 8 I own. From there it is a Coin Flip or personal preference. The Springfield Emissary can Rust very badly if you get it very wet and do not take care of it completely breaking it down and wiping down and oil everything. Not so with this Springfield TRP.

It’s 2024 and SA comes out with a tactical model that isn’t optics ready. I don’t understand companies who are not offering new guns cut for an optic, especially so called tactical models.
I hear ya, and they should come out with that version. For me, I like it this way, but I understand lots of people want that optic option. I also know Springfield Armory folks read these comments. 😊😎🇺🇸👍.

That is a very close call. You’re a winner either way. I would get the Black Specialist so…. No Rust Issues with your Dan Wesson. Other than that, Dealers Choice! 😊😎🇺🇸👍

How does it compair with the Sig STX?
The Tactical TRP is the Athletic Older Brother of the Sig STX. The TRP plays College Football for The Oregon Ducks and the Sig STX is a starter on the Highschool Varsity Team in town.
😂😎🇺🇸👍 In other words the Sig STX is a great starter 1911, where the new TRP is more a professional gun guys 1911. I think it is a step up, and if the Sig runs great you should keep it too. I own 25 1911 pistols of different levels of “Professional” 1911. Please note this is just my take on it, and I am sure 3 or 4 people who read this will disagree and say a Les Baer or a Wilson Combat are the only True Professional 1911. Know what I mean. There is room for all and the TRP is a great pick. 😊. Beretta Sr.

So are these reliable? I see many handgun snobs bash on these.
I’m sure it’s a good gun but the screw in guide rod is detrimental in my opinion. I had a loaded 1911 and the guide rod would unscrew itself during range trips. It’s unnecessary and causes problems. Id switch it out but for a gun that price you shouldn’t have to. Love the 1911 but I can’t understand a screw in guide rod.
I bought one of these a week ago but it didn't come in the nice pelican case. Just the black cardboard box and black pistol rug.
It is a nice pistol though, and if it shoots as well as my two other TRPs I won't be disappointed.

So, TRP or Vickers Tactical Master Class?
Young Beretta and I think the pistols are very close. We both prefer the TRP. We both think the Master Class is no longer manufactured in 2024. You would have to find a leftover Masterclass sitting at a Gun Store. The TRP can be ordered with a Rail or not and in a couple different colors. Other than all that… it is Shooters Choice, both are Quality 1911 pistols.

Yes Sir. That is another one that needs to be considered. Just keep the Top slide oiled and wiped down. I saw what happens if you put it away after getting rained on…. It was horrible. Rust covered the entire slide. Keep them clean and oiled. Beretta Sr.

3 mags for a change and a good case though….

Nobody does production 1911s like Springfield, in my opinion and they are like ass holes everybody has one
Following this one. I remain healthily skeptical. The TRP name is being masterfully promoted. I have not handled one to inspect closely. Research so far indicates these are not custom shop touched. There's that. I own a Garrison and made that purchase with a purpose in mind. Every manufacturer has its pro's and con's of their offerings. I am no longer impressed with SA marketing presentations and look at value, performance that delivers. Good information, looking forward to range footage.

nice how they don't use the slide as a billboard! my s&w 2.0 shield perf. ctr. slide IS A BILLBOARD .... looks matter a lot to me so i hate rails also i'm not into flashlights and laser beams so i won't buy a pistol with the dental molding (rail) make 2 models 1 with and 1 without the ugly rail
