    Every time I watch one of your videos Joe I’m always blown away by the consistently beautiful finish you get on your ports, especially your transfers. If I didn’t live literally on the other side of the planet I wouldn’t hesitate to commission you for a saw porting, even though I port saws myself. It would be a pleasure to own one of yours 👍🏻

    I have a 440, 066, 661c and a 500i. I LOVE my new 500i. Starts easy, runs flawlessly and is very powerful. Powerful enough to pull a 32" bar cleanly through a 40" dry oak log. I replaced the bar with a 24" one and she is my main work saw.

      @fabzacres-blackcat 2 роки тому +2

      It’s the fuel ⛽️ pump gas and a slightly lean condition. I run motomix which uses STIHL ultra and on my mtronic saws there’s very little if any buildup on the piston and none on the combustion chamber. An interesting video comparing all the canned fuels after 2 gallons ….. ua-cam.com/video/1JEXR-d6Z_Q/v-deo.html …. Stihl motomix with STIHL ultra runs pretty clean as the video demonstrates. You run STIHL ultra with pump gas it’ll carbon up like a mother-effer so we can deduce it’s the piss poor pump gas and not the oil itself

    I have two questions. 1. In the previous dyno measurements, the MS 500i (in the video "The most powerful modern 70cc chainsaw!") had 7.02 HP in stock and this with a straightshot muffler only 0.16 HP more. Is the muffler upgrade worted? 2. Question This chain saw has completely different high rpm characteristics than the 500i before. Why? Did they reduce the high rpm?

    • @dynojoemods2764
      @dynojoemods2764  2 роки тому +2

      2 completely different saws. Being m tronic I cannot control how/when the saw tunes. So power can fluctuate some from saw to saw. Same with the sounds. Sometimes they allow more free rpm and others keep it a bit lower "rich"
      Muffler mod is worth it for the less heat. And they normally gain
      .3- .5hp

    • @em4703
      @em4703 2 роки тому

      A muffler mod on the side of the muffler instead of the front (like in the case of bark box and straight shot), will always give more power and less noise. The only disadvantage is that it's a permanent mod, so you can't just replace the lid of the muffler with the original one to get rid of the mod if you want too. Up to you to decide what's worth it.

      The 500i learns pretty quick. After the first few starts it is pretty well dialed in. It can be frustrating at times while it is trying to tune, as I am trying to load it on the dyno. As the saw is constantly chasing the ideal tune vs load.

    I'm bucking 24 inch fir logs into firewood. Gnarly stuff. I'm using my brand new Stihl 500i and I am not a happy camper. It cuts like crazy, but it is a bitch to restart. Pull the rope and the saw will run then die, run then die, run, then die. I'm pulling the starter rope a dozen times or more before it catches. I have two 044s that I bought new in the 1990s and logged with for years, and they both still start first pull EVERY TIME once they're warmed up. So what is up with this 500i that I probably shouldn't have bought?
