Gail Davies is a fantastic singer and songwriter. She deserves so much more recognition and respect than she has received from the country music industry. Her talents are undeniable. Gail, you are the best!!
I remember buying the vinyl album and listening awestruck by the quality of Gail's singing, the quality of the songs and the quality of the production. I knew then that I was listening to one of the greatest talents in country music. I have bought every Gail Davies album since then. It's great that these videos are available to watch. Thank you Rob Price for making them available.
She's still recording. Her latest album "Beyond the Realm of Words" was co-produced by her son Christopher Scruggs. I just ordered it on her website. I've been reading her biography which is an amazing story. She's quite a rebel and I can't wait to hear her new music.
As a child I stood at door the rest home as she sang to grandma whitten live a few blocks from old resthome home today it's all empty now go to cemetery see grandma 1982 grandma's song came out I live in broken bow okla
I just discovered her today while searching for a song to comfort me during these grieving times as my beloved grandmother passed away last month. This song hits hard. This is a tribute song done right.
Your BOY... Your Grandmothers GREAT GRANDSON sent me here.... No WONDER Chris is so IT!!!! he is a GRAND STEWARD of his Mother's Grandmother's, fathers, and Grand paternal grandfathers gifts and he is doing ALL Justice and HONOR.... What a song Mrs Davies and your DELIVERY of it is SPECIAL!!!!
I remember playing this song back in my radio dj job back in the early 1980s and how it became a favorite of mine. I sing parts of the song now to my little daughter. It's one of the prettiest country melodies from that era and I love the touching lyrics. Gail Davies' clear voice and beautiful range made this song stunning.
Hey Gail. Miss you. Nashville and you were so kind to me. More than likely you won't see this message but still think of you. I remember when you played your tape to me of Pretty Woman before you released it. I still have the album cover you signed. Wish I could catch up with you. Wishing the best to you. Time is short.🥰
My mom has a similar maiden name and she is an amazing singer and songwriter also so I always liked Gail Davies since she had so much in common with my mom. Look up “Wee hours worship” to hear my amazing mom 😊
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS , IT'S TO SAD THAT MUSIC ISN'T THE SAME TODAY . THANK YOU MISS GAIL DAVIES FOR YOUR GEMS OF SONGS . I MUST SAY YOU PAID YOUR PRECIOUS GRANDMOTHER A HUGE HOMAGE WITH THIS SONG I KNOW SHE SMILES EVERY TIME SHE HEARS IT . I WILL ALWAYS BE A HUGE FAN OF YOURS MISS GAIL DAVIES .
I was thair only as a child.standing in the door as Gayle sat thair in a old straight back chair singing to grandma whitten.she would later write grandmas song 1982.those are special memories.love you grandma whitten.mark Watkins broken bow.ok.8 9 2019
Very good singer. What a voice Bought two of her albums and a CD. She could sing you a story..You could see it in her songs..I know she found a tape with her grandmother singing and put it at the beginning of her recording. Loved it..
I heard her at the ouachita festival of the forest from her home town Broken bow oklahoma back in the late 70's. When she sang this song on stage there with the natural backdrop of the Mountain Fork river and the shear cliff behind the ampitheater had a near mystical hauntimg ring that will forever stick in my memory.
I saw the original and taped it on VHS, mid-80's I think. It has been an inspiration for years. I too am stumped as to why she never got the attention she deserved. Incredible talent.
An amazing song. Both her AND her brother are just so incredibly talented. Must have been some amazing music in that house when they were growing up. Watching them perform together is kind of captivating.
I have an old VHS tape of this ACL song writers special but it has seen better days. I wonder if anyone has the complete show converted to digital ? It is not available on PBS archives or on Austin City Limits website.
Help, please, Gail Davies fans, I’m trying to find a song that she performed on a live show like this one, maybe even this one. It could have been written by her brother Ron Davies, I think she mentioned him. She sang something about a rose, and I think she said that “it is about a dynamic”. It’s been many years but I remember that it was a great song, and not a cover off an older song. Maybe on piano? Help, anyone?

Perhaps her moral standards are higher than what it takes to go further in the industry.

I have no idea why Gail Davies never became a huge star. Her song writing and voice are incredible.
John Berry I feel the same way. She had such a clear voice. Just loved her so. Where is she at today?

John Berry maybe she doesn't know the right persons
@@massimosbrava8112 she came out in the 70s or maybe early 80s. She would know the right person for over 30 to 40 years
To some of us she still is a huge star.

The purity of Gail’s voice is so moving- my emotions well up every time I hear this song.

The pureness in her voice almost brings a tear to my eye.
I can never listen to that song without getting emotional. I'm an old timer and don't have that happen often. Very special song.
She has the life she wants. She's from Oklahoma: secure and grounded in what counts. How blessed she is❤
This woman is a genius, and I have always been a fan. God love her! She will never know how much joy she brought me.
Gail Davies and Claire Lynch. Two of the best.
This song is beyond description, and miss Davies is as well.

She is so under-rated.
Most women musicians are underrated.

I remember watching this video in tears and sitting there, wrote a song about my own grand parents.
I'm awed , wish we could have talked & sung together
my favorite song

Beautiful, just beautiful. Made me cry.
One of favorite Gail Davies song. I can hear Oklahoma in her sweet voice
Lilt and tremolo. Rarely heard anymore. Gail is a master of both..
Best female voice in country music. Writers should have lined up to write for her.
I actually remember this performance. So touching, so masterful.
Wow, what a voice.

Her voice is absolutely incredible!
Such a beautiful voice and song writing talent...

Any idea who the other artists are on the stage with Gail? I'm pretty sure that it's Roseanne Cash right next to here, but not sure of the other two.
Next to Rosanne is Emmylou Harris, Lacy J. Dalton, Mary Ann Kennedy and Pam Rose
