As a child I stood in the doorway at the resthome as she sat thair in a chair sang to grandma whitten.early 1970,s.she later wrote grandma's song.know the family.miss you grandma.grandmas song.1982.special.memories to be thair in oklahoma
Oh I remember watching this on TV with my cousin who played guitar. He loved this song. Whenever we got together he would ask me to sing it while he played. I miss you Mark.
Gail Davies was on to something back in 1986 when she experimented with a group called Wild Choir. Those featured songs as well as the album were edgy for its time on country radio and they charted bad. But country radio was not ready for what she was aiming for.....Now, fast forward 32 years later, they would fit perfect on country radio and would most probably do great on the country top 40 chart....My admiration for Gail Davies stepping out back then to try something different, has my applause! Good music, bad timing.
DEE, Gail Davies was the first female music producer in country music history. Although now semi-retired at 74 years of age, her angelic voice remains, and she still does some touring but mostly in Europe.
Thanks for posting this one! I remembered watching that show from Austin City Limits when it was first shown and have been hoping someone would post some of Gail's songs from it. There have been videos put up of some of the other artists who were there but I haven't seen any of Gail's until now. I see that you have another one of her songs from this show so I'll go check that one out as well.
I also remember watching this on Austin City Limits back in the 80s. I recorded it at the time and had a ragged old VHS copy for years to go back and watch. That VHS tape bit the dust a long time ago. Thanks for posting.
Gail Davies is a fantastic singer and songwriter who has never gotten the recognition she deserves. I am a forever fan. Gail, you rock!!

In my 68 years, this is one of the most heartbreak-ing-ly beautiful songs I ever heard, and sung
I agree.

What was this show...I can find parts of it. I remember being mesmerized by all the raw, stripped down talent of these amazing ladies.
I loved this whole show. Wish KLRU would give it to us. Cannot find the entire showcase.
She's always been far superior talent compared to many of her colleagues and it's very evident in this performance.

@@sergeantmasson3669 I know! She’s my hero. I wanted to produce when I was a teenager and I definitely admired that about her. Just an awesome talent.
