"make sure you see the brick before you dive" *me knowing my brick test is going to be in a lake* 😀
Oh no!
Did you pass?
U lifegaurding for a lake or something bro 💀
It’s probably a waterfront lifeguard course so yeah
Did you pass bro??💀
Your videos helped so much! I just got certified this weekend and I passed everything.
Thanks for the tips man! Have my training this Wednesday and I’m really hoping on passing, I appreciate the wisdom.
great work! im training for my 500m open water swim then immediately run 500m back for my ocmd beach control job! never even been a lifeguard before but ima send it 100 percent
I start training tomorrow I can’t wait I am excited 😊
I did my first cert 4 years ago I'm going for my recert tomorrow thanks for reminding me of all these!
That lean back for treading water really helped, glooks
Thanks to you i got my certification for lifeguard and i start working on monday 😃😃😃
Very informative, thank you
Very good tips. I got my lifeguard certification last weekend! I was freaked out but it's not as difficult as it sounds if you're just in regular practice. I practiced for just 3 days before the test
Thanks for your tips!
Can you tell me how you practiced? I got my test in a week and I have no clue how to practice for it
@@elle5359 1. Practice non stop 20 laps(lengths) everyday to build your endurance.
2. For water treading, practice it immediately after your 20 laps(above point) so that you can better prepare for the fatigue that's expected. Tread for a minute, take quick break and continue until you reach your goal (increase duration everyday).
3. For timed event just practice to dive in deep water(at least 8-12ft) and reach pool floor as quickly as possible. Most people fail to reach pool floor in the first try or cannot find the brick and that costs you precious extra time.
@@AdityaDeshpande1 Thank you for the advice, I truly appreciate your wisdom and advice. starting your tips today
Love the poster in the back bruh😮💨
I passed my pre-test! Thank u so much for ur tips!
i’m taking it tommorow!! i have rly bad allergies so i’m kinda congested but i’ll just take allergy meds and hope for the best yk!! thank you ur videos are so helpful!!
yo same lmao gl
@@mateocurci6605 i passed!! hope u did/do too gl if u didn’t take it yet!!
I hope you guys get good teachers for the course
I love your tips. I'm still finishing up the Red Cross online course, hit the pool and swim pretest in a few days. I've kinda mastered the brick on the back thing, and though not fast I can swim 300 no problem (the wife and I do tri's, Ironman, so hip to swimming). But TREADING is a bear for me. I sink like that swim brick. Tried to learn the whole eggbeater thing, my eggbeater is more a wine cork remover. So stuck with the old fashioned straight leg tread, hence if I wash out it'll be that!
Haha, you are going to do great. Let me know how it goes
I just passed my pre-test yesterday thanks to your videos
I passed 300 was hard I took a 5 second break on the wall brick was super easy treading water was easy to the hardest part for me is the 300 lol whoever is reading you got this!
got mine on friday, not really worried about the 300 yard swim and brick trial, just more about the water tread. You’d think that because I play soccer I’d have strong enough legs to stay afloat lmao, but I’ve been trying and keep getting 1 minute, but I feel like under pressure I’ll be able to do it. Wish me luck
I’m in the exact same situation! Someone told me that the adrenaline rush u get in the moment will help you do better
@@AngelinaAndRyan You should also be aware of the who frequents the pool/body of water you will be guarding. It does you no good to only train to rescue someone who is
I just got certified this weekend you will be fine the instructors are usually very nice and understanding
@@NickPeters-jn9vc appreciate it man
You got this!
Also what are some tips on guarding for private pool parties like at people’s homes?
I have my pre test in 2hrs😖😖 I’m so nervous, I didn’t know that doing that helps with the treading portion of it so yeah thanks that’s really helpful!!
Keep us posted! Going to do great
How does lifeguarding at a country club or a more luxurious pool compare to the YMCA? I work at the YMCA and tho it is good for being my first job/lifeguard experience, I constantly am enforcing this rule or that policy and the list keeps going and going. It’s the YMCA not a country club so therefore things are run differently
1- How much time between events?
2- does the head and neck need to be complete out during the two minutes test or can I sink the head a little bit to relax. Not floating. Just sink must of it leaving the face out.
Thanks
i passed because of you thanks boss
Is the 300m swim timed or does it not matter
Adam your videos help me pass my lifeguard test
same
Yo, do you have any tips for the interview process at a facility and for the job itself? I don’t really know what to expect…
This video will help: ua-cam.com/video/8ArzMHxFai0/v-deo.html
I have mine tomorrow! I’m super excited but I’m most worried about the brick test. They lowered the time to 1:20. I hope I pass everything haha it’ll be my first job
You can do it! Lmk how it goes!
My supervisor made us swim 5 laps today because we didn’t get the person out with a spinal injury within 3 minutes for our drill
I have a question for the 12 laps Im not good in counting lol i usury forget I focus on my technique do they count for you ?
Yes, They will stop u when ur finished. Good question
Thank you 😊
Any tips for the brick portion for a person with really bad eyesight?
Pay attention to where your instructor throws the brick and try to locate it before submerging. When u locate it above water, swim directly above, so u can do straight down and grab it without looking for it while holding your breathe
@@LifeofAdam got a cramp while diving
I have my test tomorrow and I'm super nervous about the brick because it's the only one I haven't been able to practice :/
Same
yhu
get it or naw
how’d it go?
He failed that’s how it went there’s your years later update
I’m taking my test tomorrow morning and I’m so scared for the brick test because we’re doing it in a lake and I won’t be able to see the bottom 😭
WHAT THE HECK😭😭😭😭!!! I hope you passed
@@Spidermoney674 hehe i did. it was a bright enough yellow :)
l i'm working at a camp and i'm a camp counselor and not even becoming a full time lifeguard but they made me swim 32 laps. got to 16 and realized i pushed myself so hard so i threw up and then i gave up.. i guess i'm bagging groceries lol
nvm guys don't give up i'm waterfront certified now !!!!
Omg I couldn’t do the laps either and I was so embarrassed
@@therealjayyy1020 don't give up.. i'm chubby and all that and i did that and now i'm a swim instructor.. if you want something work for it!!!

U got this. I didn’t swim for a while before taking it too.
my pre-test is on Saturday and I haven’t swam since august 😵💫
That was me haha when I did it. You’ll be fine once u get in and adjust. Lmk how it goes
Hey what is the name of the lifegaurd course
Red Cross lifeguard certification
Everyone in my class pushed off the bottom with the brick dive. We all passed.
At my lifeguarding job it’s fun because we do a thing called the great wolf howl with guess when we open and close
How does a lifeguard makes ?
Depends on the job, type of pool/beach. If ur in highschool, a little more than minimum wage. But very experienced/ professional lifeguard positions make a lot more
Thanks man. I'm from the Bahamas and thinking about going down this career path.
im doing it this weekend & im shitting bricks im SCAREDDDD
How'd it go?
They failed miserably 😂 2 year update on her
BSA pre-test is 550 yds, weight test then finish with the 2 min tread with hands under armpits….
Good to know, this is for red cross
@@LifeofAdam Going on 52 and I need to re-cert this week at summer camp, getting a little tougher nowadays lol, always showed my scouts some of your videos 👏👏
