    Thanks for all the helpful tips. My son got his cert last year when he was 15, but wasn't able to actually work as a pool lifeguard until he was 16. Just the local reg's in my area (New Jersey). What we found helpful was to get to know the swim director and staff at the local YMCA, which is where the course was being given. We did a membership there for a bit so that my son was able to do a bunch of practicing for the 3 pre-tests. Best advice from them was that the 300m swim IS NOT TIMED. as long as you don't fully stop, you can take almost as long as you like. Don't kill yourself on this as you will need some stamina for the Brick Retrieval.

    hi. so i have a question, for the brick test how deep was the pool? and can we wear goggles while getting the brick? and if not how can i locate the brick without goggles?

    • @LifeofAdam
      @LifeofAdam  2 роки тому +2

      the pool is most likely going to be around 10 to 12 feet deep. The only test you can use goggles for is the 300 yard swim. So, you are going to have to open your eyes underwater. This video may help:

    i have my pretest this week. I’m really nervous and afraid since I came back to swimming only three months ago after 9 years of not swimming. I’m not getting the goal just yet, but i’m hoping to give the best this time. Hopefully it’ll be for me. Any tips on anxiety and nervousness? I’m still having a hard time with the brick one, can’t get it all in one try 😔

      The nerves will go away once you are there and in the pool. Don’t overthink it. You’ll be fine. Also, Here is a vid on the brick dive: ua-cam.com/video/bB5GhsVEhBY/v-deo.html
