I'm living in Northern Italy. Right now as I was watching your segment about Italians being generous with their produce, my little old man neighbor rang my doorbell with a crate of pomegranates from his tree! The timing was insane.
Things I love about Italy: universal healthcare, very cheap public transport, bidè (people tend to be very clean), eating culture in general (even the less educated people know what is good for them), like you said the 'laid-back' lifestyle. Of course talking about Puglia the wonderful sea and nice climate (I like the heat).
It's funny about the heat- I used to think I absolutely couldn't deal with anything over 25 C. Well, the thing was, I used to be a landscaper, and consequently drenched in sweat all summer. Now I have 'retired' and it was complete bliss here when my area had a 40 C heatwave this summer, just soaking it up :) So now I have to rethink my ideal retirement!

If you are looking for the creme de la creme (so to say) of mozzarella, mozzarella di bufala, you guys will have to hop over to the other side of Italy to Paestum (and the Cilento area as a whole) and try the various places (as a habitual goer I suggest: Masseria La Lupata (probably the best one for Mozzarella and a great stop over after visiting the Paestum ancient Greek temples which are a must to see), Barlotti (great spot to have a morning coffee and ricotta based cake in the countryside) e Vannulo (mostly for the buffalo yoghurts) even though that last one usually requires booking ahead to buy the mozzarella). Hi Katie, you may need to rethink your way of describing some typical regional customs as Italian. Many habits are shared from north to south of Italy but some are unknown even to the Italians themselves from other parts of Italy. Food, free time, socialization and work culture would be better classified as "Apulian".
Dear Katie, I was ready to write a "stupid" comment on this video but UA-cam put in the suggested video an old video of you: "the accident that changed my life one year later". And I almost cried... Lots of love to you, Connor and your family
The thing with the bill is the same in Germany and I think in all of Europe, I think only in America you pay and go as soon as you have finished eating
More fresh apulian cheese you should try: pampanella (made with cow milk or mixed milk and a fig leaf), primosale, giuncata, manteca, vaccino pugliese fresco, scamorza e scamorza di pecora.
Because it's a kind of cheese and it is different from any Italian cheese. I miss grilling mature Cheddar on a slice of bread with French mustard or rosemary on top.

Is real Italian food really delicious for Americans? I have seen, for exemple, that Italian americans use a huge amount of garlic in their recipes; does this make Italian food "bland" for an american who has eaten Italian american food before?
Actually Italian Americans.. Or better American Italians, use much more garlic than real Italians do.. In my family we almost never use it for instance
@@robertopezzutto5843 Exactly, that's what I said. They apparently really like that strong garlic flavour that we Italians in Italy generally don't like. I want to know if Italian food is really that great from an American perspective.

*sigh* I belong in Europe. Apparently I have a lot of the 'Old-World' sensibilities. A meal that can last for a while, no problem. Getting fresh food when I need it, no problem. Biking a lot (in most areas), no problem. Sitting back and enjoying more of life, no problem. Not rushing around like a typical American...no problem. Once I am healthy enough to go back to work (Long Covid problems), I'll start setting aside as much as I can so that I can eventually plan a move to somewhere in Europe. Maybe not Italy (although it does sound nice)..but somewhere where the people are nice, the scenery is good, plenty of fun to be had, and a more relaxed pace of life. Oh...and good food!!
"but somewhere where the people are nice, the scenery is good, plenty of fun to be had, and a more relaxed pace of life. Oh...and good food!!" So... Italy! :D

Sometimes you find tourists who enter the restaurant you are in, sit down and leave after 5 minutes, they are obviously Americans, used to being served on time otherwise they leave, destined to have a difficult life in Europe.
My ancestors fled to USA to enjoy the safety of motorists obeying traffic lights and nicely divIded traffic lanes. When I went to italy, I saw they had a point.
Buongiorno Katie, have you ever listened to popular Apulian music? If you don't know it yet, here's an example: it's called Taranta and in particular Pizzica in Salento area. ua-cam.com/video/hjmNWAXQeFw/v-deo.html
..I like you and your enthusiasm Katie, but, as these videos are supposed to be watched by tourists, I think you should say more often "in southern Italy" instead of just "in Italy". You see, winter in northern Italy is freezing, anyone walking around with a gelato in the snow or in the fog would be seen as a lunatic. The meals take long if you gather, especially on weekends, but working days usually mean a sandwich for lunch and a quick meal in the evening - often delivered or pre-cooked. There are many people who don't like kids making noise while at the restaurant, so yes, you'll see many of that "looks". About the dogs, a few years ago a law was issued that dogs can enter public spots like shops and grocery stores, but it's up to the owner whether to admit them in places where food is made. You will see many restaurants up here with a "no dogs allowed" sticker outside their doors, but they're always welcome if you sit outside. They like to say that we're cold, but it's just a different way of living. They can say whatever they want, but Italy is a very recent nation, more than the U.S., the place has been divided in different reigns for thousands of years. Literally. That's why our cultures are still so different from one another. Mind, I'm not saying that one culture is better, as for many reasons I would love to live in the south myself. I'm just stating a fact. Anyway, keep up the good work!
Natale in montagna sulle Alpi vuoi mettere?
Hi, Italian and have lived in the uk too, at first the food was a bit dull, BUT soon enough I discovered the English cuisine (which is really diverse, many recipes, most unknown overseas) and typical produce and foods (eg. herring (bloaters, kippers, etc.), game (i'm back in italy SO more or less vegetarian, so no worries anyone, just mentioning stuff Italians wouldnt imagine)... i miss the little brown shrimps from the North Sea! And other stuff unavailable here. Not to mention Polish beer (zywiec bock etc.) that i can't find in italy (we do have international shops, but more basic than in the uk). I don't miss social life and habits (ehmmm), other aspects of the way of life, but there are good, tasty, unique food specialties in every country. Peace, and w my beloved Italy 😌✌

Dear Katie, I was ready to write a "stupid" comment on this video but UA-cam put in the suggested video an old video of you: "the accident that changed my life one year later". And I almost cried... Lots of love to you, Connor and your family
Aww Grazie ☺️
You selected the best region to live in here in Italy
Love your passion
Bravi from sicily!!
Katie j'adore tes video!
The thing with the bill is the same in Germany and I think in all of Europe, I think only in America you pay and go as soon as you have finished eating
Well, but in Germany everyone pays its own bill, unless you tell them to do it differently which Is a bit weird.
I see the hand gesture while you're speaking italian 😁.
I guess it's an automatic skill.
Ti abbiamo contagiata ❤👋🏻
🤷♀️🤷♀️🤌🤌
Complimenti💪👍
Mi piacerebbe leggeri i sottotitoli 😃
More fresh apulian cheese you should try: pampanella (made with cow milk or mixed milk and a fig leaf), primosale, giuncata, manteca, vaccino pugliese fresco, scamorza e scamorza di pecora.
🙏 🤤 🤤
And u still in fit and great shape Katie! Lol ;)
Ma i sottotitoli? Mia cara Katie, faccio fatica a capire tutto! 🤔😘
I’m Italian and I’m proud you are apart of us 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Just to know: but dogs and babies are not welcome in restaurants in USA?
You have to try Tiramisù
Do you like the caffè leccese?
ITALY is the most beautiful country in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why Cheddar? You can have Parmesan, Gorgonzola, Regional varieties of Pecorino, Ricotta, Mozzarella and that is a partial list of cheese types.
Because it's a kind of cheese and it is different from any Italian cheese. I miss grilling mature Cheddar on a slice of bread with French mustard or rosemary on top.
When she said that my first thought as well was grilled cheese sandwiches! With chives and oregano and maybe some finely chopped red pepper....
I am addicted to gelato...pistachio, coconut and banana.😋🇮🇹
As a farmer retiring there and knowing I can get the best produce without the labor. Yes!
Nice!!👌💫😎💥
Hi Katie!! If you want to see the true non-stereotypical Italian food culture and all the rules around it, head over discovery plus and watch some episodes of “Cortesie per gli ospiti”, you’ll learn so much! ☺️
Love your videos and keep up the good work 🥰

I agree
Is real Italian food really delicious for Americans? I have seen, for exemple, that Italian americans use a huge amount of garlic in their recipes; does this make Italian food "bland" for an american who has eaten Italian american food before?
Actually Italian Americans.. Or better American Italians, use much more garlic than real Italians do.. In my family we almost never use it for instance
@@robertopezzutto5843
Exactly, that's what I said. They apparently really like that strong garlic flavour that we Italians in Italy generally don't like. I want to know if Italian food is really that great from an American perspective.
@@kw7709 Thanks for the answer
"Italian" Americans aren't Italian :D
I can only speak for myself and my American family that have visited - we love the food here! Less is more in Italy!
Katie, have you ever think to work in Italian TV?
Quello sarebbe un sogno!
@@TheQKatie fai richiesta a Telenorba 📺
Right! She literally *glows* with life. I've never seen such a joyful person! Her joy and enthusiasm make her even more beautiful and she'd be perfect for the TV. She's amazing and I wish her and her husband all the best. ❤💕🌸
Oh...and good food!!"
So... Italy! :D
@@Plan73 Possibly, but I was thinking maybe somewhere near Italy. France, Switzerland, Germany, or maybe even Spain. Italy would be nice though.
@@davidguillory1312 you can stay for a while in each of this country if you want. But surely, you can't miss Italy at some points. Maybe it's not the best option for career-oriented kinda style. But, for the rest, it has everything expecially fun, food, art and beautiful scenery
Sometimes you find tourists who enter the restaurant you are in, sit down and leave after 5 minutes, they are obviously Americans, used to being served on time otherwise they leave, destined to have a difficult life in Europe.
I can’t say I feel bad for them 😉😂🙄
My ancestors fled to USA to enjoy the safety of motorists obeying traffic lights and nicely divIded traffic lanes. When I went to italy, I saw they had a point.
Ti auguro tanta fortuna in Italia. Un abbraccio.
Buongiorno Katie, have you ever listened to popular Apulian music? If you don't know it yet, here's an example: it's called Taranta and in particular Pizzica in Salento area.
..I like you and your enthusiasm Katie, but, as these videos are supposed to be watched by tourists, I think you should say more often "in southern Italy" instead of just "in Italy".
