@Alana Khoury Duo lingo is not a very effective way of learning a language. You'd be better off just finding natives to talk to, or watching TV shows, starting with kids shows. Just take a magazine and a story book and get them to tell you about them, then copy. Don't talk your native language, draw pictures to get them to give you the language.

@@eriko5975 sure! I am listening to podcasts in Italian and I’m mostly able to follow along. I also recently started reading The Divine Comedy in Italian. I haven’t really gotten opportunities to speak it,but I think I could struggle through a conversation. I’ve had ups and downs with feeling like I’m getting anywhere with it,but I have stuck with this whole time, and it’s certainly paying off.
Ever since I learned Italian I go to the local Italian deli and argue with the deli server in Italian, things got so heated last time he threw a chunk of salami at my head.
I lived in Italy for 6 months (but I'm Dutch) I did learn all those not too useful words and sentences. What helped me to keep everything fresh was having conversations in my head when I was alone. In the shower, describing what I am planning to do, or describing what I see when I was on the go. It was so useful. This way I found sentences that I often use without needing it to build the sentence every time again. They became easy accessible packages so to say. Less mental load. Really nice!
Ok what u need to do is honestly makes ur own website with various languages and steps for people to follow like what your doing. Imagine taking a Spanish class and be rather fluent in it in like a month by following steps like yours.
The "click" came for me after a few glasses of wine at a dinner with Italian friends. I was getting bored of not understanding the conversation, then all of a sudden, my brain relaxed and instantly "tuned in" to the flow of what they were saying, and everything came into full clarity. Once your mind tunes into the channel people are communicating on, comprehension becomes easy and your skills will start growing exponentially.
To answer your questions about how I found the top 1,000 words, it was basically just a Google search. It appears as though these lists are flawed, so you may need to do some manual translating for yourself - if you notice you use a word a lot in your native language, but don't know the translation, that's probably a good sign that you should look it up. That being said, I think we should make a more reputable source online with a proper list of the top 1,000 words in all languages. And I might your help to make that happen.
Yeah bro, making a custom list is mostly a good idea but you should definitely get someone to review it. The catch to 100 most used words in a language is: it may not have words from another language because it doesn't exist; it's not because of usage frequency. The phrase "what's up?" is quite common but may possibly just not exist in another language. So look out for that :( One of those cases where it's more about How it is said in the culture rather than literally. But the 1000 list should definitely lead you to some of these culturally key words. Great video btw dude, you inspired me to start Spanish again years after high school haha
I know this violates your rule about spending no money, but what you need is a Frequency Dictionary. It will contain the words of the language, but rather than listing them alphabetically, they’re listed in the order of how often they’re used. That will give you the most common 1,000+ words and it’s a scholarly source.
My French teacher spoke English on the first day of school and showed us a few common words like bathroom, question, etc, then spoke French the entire year. Everyone in the class picked up French in no time.

The best podcast for learning Italian is called Coffee Break Italian. It teaches English speakers Italian by focusing on sentence structure. So much more useful! It's geared towards those that are planning on traveling to Italy. I have taken traditional Italian class with the foreign embassy cultural institute and even speak with many of my Italian friends and coworker and I still think the podcast is the best!!
Seriosa, perché lui è caramello, è italiano. Ghali è italiano e lui è marrone. Allora, se tu sei caramello con capelli neri, questo ti fa italiano. Io penso ch sembri francese.
Great job! As someone qualified to teach Italian as a second language I have to say that if any of my students would invest even half of the time and effort that you have in this one week in a whole semester the results would be very visible. Another problem with learning a foraging language in a traditional school environment is that students at the same time have at least 10 other subjects to spread their focus on and they might not be able to be as intentional with learning as an adult who has free time to study a language can be. With all this said, presenting to students language in a way to make them intrigued about the culture and interested to dig deeper themselves is sometimes all a teacher can do. Love what you're doing and I'd challenge you to do the same one week study of Hungarian language and document the journey :)
Lmao you can’t learn a language in a week. This is supposed to be a different type of tactic, spread over 7 days, so that you can practice those fundamentals over a longer period. The fastest you might be able to be fluent would be 3-5 months of 8 hours a day 5 days a week for one language that is similar to your native tongue, and even longer for ones that aren’t. If it only took 1 week to be fluent in a different language, than everybody would know like twenty languages. Most advanced countries that have a generally bilingual populous only speak 2 or 3 languages on the high end. I’d plan on being conversationally fluent in 6 to 12 months depending on the language.
Tyler yea i completely agree i learned my 2nd language over quarantine where all day i spent it in german and it still took me 3 months to get to a point where i could understand most everything in tv, youtube etc its just not possible to learn a language in a week unless you have some sort of special talent with it but one week is just simply unrealistic for the average joe like me

I speak farsi and i think thats how we speak as well. We emote alot thru words. You can use two compeletly different sentences if youre describing ur eating experience, if you enjoy your food or if you arent. The problem is our writing has a very different structure than our normal speech.
I believe it differs based on the context. Italian is not technically my mother tongue but I go to school in Italy and I've been speaking it outside the house since I was 3. Initially I couldn't wrap my head around when to use congiuntivo and when to use condizionale (ex: se io andrei VS se io andassi) and in basic conversation that's fine, most people don't care or even notice. However, if you want to speak the language in a more formal context it's essential that you know the difference, because it's a way of "judging" your intellectual capabilities (messed up, I know). I'm attending Liceo Classico and even I twitch when I hear it being used incorrectly, so the school has really passed this on to me
Btw to clarify, the congiuntivo vs condizionale rule is a lot more lenient on foreigners, but you will make a good impression if you can use it correctly

@@jollycomputer9748 I said "probably": all right it is not, but having an Argentinian father and besides having lived - even for a short time - in Argentina, makes a huge background for Italian. Even the rhythm of Argentinian Spanish - especially in the Buenos Aires area - is Italian, due to the massive italian immigration the country received during XIX and XX centuries. How they influenced Argentina is amazing, completely changed the face of a very Spanish society into an almost Italian one.
Knowing French or Spanish first makes learning Italian so much easier. A friend who only spoke English took a long time to learn Italian. I was constantly translating everything the teachers said in my head and it took a lot of effort. But I remember one time it just clicked and the translation got natural instead of something I had to think of. Now since I know Spanish and French I also understand Italian, I understand like 80% of Italian but I want to learn it and speak it like a true Italian because I love the language, I want to travel to Italy, Italy is so beautiful 😍 and so is Greece🥰After learning Italian I’m gonna learn all by myself Greek, I already have everything I need to learn it so it’s gonna be easier
Also, he crammed the 1,000 most frequent words, which still corresponds to a rather elementary level, and he probably forgot most of it quickly after lol. It takes at least months of intense practice to be proficient in a language, it's simply not doable within 7 days. But it was a fun experiment, and I think he demonstrated that you shouldn't be scared of engaging in foreign language from day one.

@@captainjosue Absolutely agree. I've seen the same concept applied to Spanish with learners alleging that they learned it in 7 days lmao. I've been learning Spanish for 2 years now, the last 6 months or so being a serious effort, and it takes tremendous time and effort to become fluent in a language. There's a reason why the terms "fluent" and "native speaker" exist. Learning how to speak a language at high level is no trivial feat
@@captainjosue Gracias, hermano. Me encanta tantísimo tu idioma pero desafortunadamente no lo hablo bastante a menudo - la mayor parte de mi práctica consiste en escuchar y leer. Principalmente veo películas con subtítulos en español y aunque me enseñan mucho, creo que es necesario hablar de vez en cuando. Yea, the 7 days notion is horsepiss and misleading. You can possibly pass a test in your target language at a very elementary level if you cram nonstop for a week, but as I said already you'll forget almost everything shortly after. In relation to Spanish, I was able to understand the gist of what was being said to me after a few weeks practice, provided that person was speaking slowly and clearly, and without complex language, mainly because English and Spanish share many cognates (my first language is Danish though, but I've spoken English fluently since a young age). But if you want to speak a language at complete fluency, it simply necessitates at least a few years intense effort. My perception of fluency is probably also higher than what most people would consider lol.

So look out for that :(
One of those cases where it's more about How it is said in the culture rather than literally.
In the top 1,000 words, did you include words as articles, verbs, prepositions, etc or just main vocabulary (nouns)?
What was the background music, please?❤

Each week? Wtf
Its 3 months in, hows that language learning going?
and.. did you learn?
Tyler yea i completely agree i learned my 2nd language over quarantine where all day i spent it in german and it still took me 3 months to get to a point where i could understand most everything in tv, youtube etc its just not possible to learn a language in a week unless you have some sort of special talent with it but one week is just simply unrealistic for the average joe like me

for people who wanna learn italian but are intimidated by the way verbs work: i assure you it's extremely intuitive. most of the times you just need to go by what sounds best to your ear is the correct option, dont feel discouraged

Also, he crammed the 1,000 most frequent words, which still corresponds to a rather elementary level,
and he probably forgot most of it quickly after lol. It takes at least months of intense practice to be proficient in a language, it's simply not doable within 7 days.
But it was a fun experiment, and I think he demonstrated that you shouldn't be scared of engaging in foreign language from day one.

Gracias, hermano.
As an Italian native girl myself I love the dedication and the effort you've put in this! It's really amazing!
I want to listen to your Italian skills so I'm watching your second video! Super nice! Bravissimo, è bello vedere che ci sono persone a cui piace la nostra lingua, buona fortuna con l'apprendimento della lingua italiana! Continua così!
Nathaniel sono molto felice che tu abbia deciso di approcciarti alla lingua italiana in modo diverso dal solito.
Personalmente sto cercando di imparare il tedesco e non sapevo come iniziare, credo che proverò il tuo metodo.
Tedesco?
Impossibile 😂
Your content is just a piece of art !
to be honest, after watching a few of your videos i noticed that instead of watching a stranger talk about a certain topic, you seem to have more warmth in the way you talk to say. Very friendly vibe and it makes even longer videos watchable and much more enjoyable.
I am so excited about this! I just moved to Milano to be with my boyfriend, and I really need to step up my Italian game. Cheers!
Can you blink?!
Whyyyyyy did you point that out hahaha
AHAHAH
Multorum Unum read this at that second 😂
As an Italian, the moment you started singing "Gigantesco centro sociale" in the middle of the video cracked me up!
This is really good, I'll forward it to my boyfriend who's learning Italian :)
Wow i totally agree with everything you said! I learned english by myself basically with normal youtube videos, music, series, movies and not to brag but I've noticed my english is better than those that took expensive classes.
Same. Learned English just by watching some UA-cam videos over the years
aye im in the same boat too!
Yo same
It’s inspiring to see someone dive into a new language so fearlessly. Grazie for sharing your journey with us!
This is true, 80% of all tomatoes goes to the top 20% of italians.
Edge of the Danklord explains why tomatoes haven’t been very good lately. Damned peasant tomatoes.
I'm italian and you're damn right haha!
I just love this comment. It's hilarious!
An Italian girl, watching a man learn to speak Italian fluently, so she can start speaking English more fluently
An Arab girl , watching a man speaking Italian , so she can start learning Italian ( and improving my English in the same time 😂 )
I want to speak Italian fluently
@@bouchra6270 an Malaysian 🅱️oi learning italian while watching English speaking content
Me too as a girl currently learning italian. Wish me luck :))
I feel like it will be easier for me to learn since I know Spanish already, and I think some of the words are similar in some ways 😅
He said he learned Italian in 7 days, not that he became fluent in 7 days. The title is true, only a little clickbait which everyone does. Ain't gotta hate on someone trying something new and is brave enough to share the beginning of his journey.
The first sentences he says in italian would take months for a true beginner to string together so easily, and without any hesitation. He didn't learn Italian in 7 days. Nothing close to the truth.
@@chasedunagan Those sentences literally take a day or two to learn tops. lol Do you have only one language or something? Everyone knows a little about a lot of languages, they just don't realize it.
This right here. I don't think most Americans know that the rest of the planet is bilingual or multilingual
He said in the first seconds of the video "I'm going to be fluent in Italian in 7 days"
Micayla Presley maybe you can memorize the sentence in a few minutes but that doesn’t mean you know the grammar to actually make that sentence or similar sentences...
No te voy a mentir, me encantó esto que hiciste. Sólo me falta anotar la última fase para iniciar oficialmente con el aprendizaje del idioma que quiero. ¡Gracias por esto! 😄
Ah. You speak French already. That makes it 5x easier.
ahhhhhhhhhhh, i was doing what he was doing and im like why is it still so difficult
French it's a lot harder than Italian... But I think it's like this for me just because I'm Italian lol
i speak french and italian is pretty close to it but i still have some struggles remembering words 😂😂
And speaking Spanish 10x easier lol
Very true - French is lexically very similar to Italian, more so than Spanish is to Italian
Hoping to be fluent in Spanish, Italian and German in the near future, so glad I found this video. So relatable and helpful! Going to apply that 80/20 rule asap ☺️👌🏾
Still can’t believe he’s only 21, smh. Such an impressive young lad
K- MDN Imagine bachelor’s college education. He would blast off.
@@MrK3vinR he doesn't need a college degree. He's doing quite well without it and with no student debt
