So I’m laughing hysterically at all your videos. I’m an American that moved to Italy 4 years ago. It’s just so comforting to hear other people’s stories of adapting.
Our version is slightly different because we are in our late 50’s and sold everything we had and bought a Villa in the Tuscan countryside, without me ever seeing it in person.
I’d love to be able to share more with you in a more personal format.

Hi Katie, thank you for awakening in me some "appucundrìa" (nostalgia in Neapolitan).
I've missed the warm winter climate of my hometown for too long, since I've lived in Germany, Greater Munich, for eight years.
Here has become my second Heimat, now I'm about to get dual-citizenship, hopefully in time to vote at the next Bundestagswahlen.
If only that big city I grew up in had more quality of life, if only I could get there a decent job as a qualified IT professional, I'd pack all of my stuff and move back right tomorrow.
No one should be forced to leave home due to lack of opportunities.
Glad you're enjoying your stay in Meridione. You're both doing it much better than I did back then.

Katie, your videos are great. They take me back to Italy, a place that is dear to my heart.
Your Italian is excellent, but I have un’osservazione per te:
    Un uovo. Tante uova.
But whenever you use “qualche” what follows has to be in the singular.
So, “Vorrei qualche uova” even if the meaning is “I would like some eggs.”
Weird rule, but at least there are no exceptions to this one!
    Ciao!

      @@TheQKatie yeah. Great video BTW.
Also, having money notes different sizes and colours, starting with five euro being the smallest value being the smallest size, all the way up to €500 being the largest size and value, makes it harder for scams and mix ups between notes.
In Europe, if you put a 20 on top of a pile of 5's, it's easy to see at a glance. In the USA, both the 20 and the 5 are the exact same size. The same is true for giving someone one note and claiming later it was another note...restaurant cameras point directly downwards over the till for that reason. A blue €20 note and an orange €50 note are easy to spot from a restaurant or shop camera in the corner of the room.

    Well, it's not weird.
When people from outher countries decide to live here, they start to know real Italy and real Italians.
We (well, many of us) are really friendly and open people and, seeing a foreigner to live in Italy, just make us proud because, usually, they don't move here for work but as a life choice.
And, many of us, just appreciate this and they will try their best to help you and make you feel confortable.
Let's just say, we're really used to tourists so we almost don't even notice them but when you come here to live, you become Italian, just one of us.
And, how you can see, it works even better in small or medium places and more in south Italy because they're the most friendly people.
Oh, and btw the sup guy was right: you're gorgeous 😂
Enjoy your life, you're italian right now and there's nothing you can do about 😂

Dear Katie, I was watching you Christmas video and I noticed Santa Klaus who playing his harmonica in the street. Maybe you would like to know that the origin of Santa starts with San Nicola di Bari, the patron of that city which is just near you.
San Nicola was famous bishop known for his kindness in the land which is now southern Turkey. There he lived in the early Christian Era and became famous for making gifts to people in need.
His bones were brought to Puglia in the middle ages. There he was cherished and adored by the local people because his presence worked miracles. His fame spread rapidly to northern Europe where his name changed: Nicola = Klaus! There became even more adored and famous having pilgrimages to his Cathedral in Bari. Even today this continuous; I personally noticed some women there, coming in pilgrimage from Russia.
The myth sailed to America where he lost his Christian tradition and became “red” thanks to Coca Cola.
That’s how we know him today; maybe you can make a video on that. It’s missing on Internet.
Check out his detailed story on Wikipedia. Enjoy living in Italy. Ciao
