In this video, I talk about the current affairs of Manipur, a state in India that is grappling with escalating violence and a simmering land dispute. In this in-depth video, we shed light on the intensifying conflict between two groups - the indigenous Meiteis and a foreign tribal community called the Kukis - over land rights, ancestral territory, and the disturbing consequences that have ensued.
The Meitei people, or Meetei people, form the largest and dominant ethnic group of Manipur in Northeast India. They speak Meitei language. The Meiteis primarily settled in the Imphal Valley region in modern-day Manipur.
At the heart of the issue lies the unjust allocation of land. The Meiteis, who are the original inhabitants of Manipur, have been shockingly granted a mere 6 percent of the land, despite their historical connection and deep-rooted ties to the region. This staggering discrepancy becomes even more evident when the foreign tribal group receives over 90 percent of the ancestral territory, leaving the Meiteis marginalized and aggrieved.
As the Meiteis raise their voices to demand their rightful share and recognition, their pleas are met with hostility from the Kukis, leading to violent rampages and clashes. The intensity of the violence has reached alarming levels, plunging the region into chaos and uncertainty.

As soon as she said your name 'Abhijit Chavda' I knew it was going to be good. Here I am and you are surpassing my expectations with your accurate details about the history and current facts of Manipur. As someone who supported the BJP government not too long ago, I'm ashamed to say that the BJP central leadership struck a deal with the Kuki insurgents to help them win votes in Kuki dominated areas in the last election [It is a recorded fact you can find in the archives of local paper of Manipur]. I get it when Congress signed SoO but BJP following the same trail tells a lot about how the Indian political leadership view Manipur and North East India in general regardless of the parties - cannon fodder to prop cult of personalities in Lok Kalyan Marg at the expense of the native Indian nationals. @@saneperson101That parade happened on May 4th as a retaliation to the atrocity suffered by Meitei women and children at the hands of the Kuki felons at Churachandpur on May 3rd, which unfortunately never made it to the headlines but were gathered from the survivors in contact with their friends and relatives. During the bizarre parade where hundreds of people were seen trailing, the irate Meiteis involved never touched the women, let alone molest or r@p3. The two women confirmed this as a fact during the interrogation, which occured more than a month after the incident, following the video going viral nationwide. It wasn't your run of the mill sexually motivated crime but rather a crime of illegal retaliation in response to the violation of Meitei women who were reportedly r@p3 and murdered by the Kuki felons on May 3rd, 2023. The Kuki women who were paraded were also reported to be close relative of the chief of the neighboring Kuki village. The assailants (Meiteis) and the victims (Kukis) involved in that video were neighbors located at 'Nongpok Sekmai', 38 Kms south of Imphal.
@@saneperson101The agitations by the Kukis were originally against the government of Manipur. It also got mixed with Meitei's demand for Schedule Tribe status. The Kuki planned a "Peace Rally" at Churachandpur at May 3rd, 2023. Everything was in order and the Meiteis, even at the last minute before the violence lit by the Kukis, never considered the Kukis an existential threat. In fact, the Meiteis never had any problems with the Kukis and considered their resentment as largely directed against the state government. It was when their so called "Peace Rally" went south and turned ultra violent by attacking the Meiteis residing in Kuki dominated areas, Meiteis who have nothing to do with the state government, that Meiteis began to retaliate with vengeance. The Meiteis were appalled because we never thought in our wildest dreams that the Kukis, who were doing quite well in Manipur, would do such a thing against the Meiteis. The point being, yes it was the Kukis who started the violence against the Meiteis. The day after there were series of retaliation by the Meiteis against the Kukis. The video you saw was a part of that retaliation. It was after the violence began that Meiteis started to realize that the true motive of the Kukis is to exterminate the indigeneous Meiteis and supplant the whole state of Manipur as part of 'Zalingam' aka 'Kukiland'. They have made known of this dream years before the violence began in local papers. The Meiteis never took it seriously because we conisdered it a pipe dream. We learned the hard way that it wasn't and that they are serious about their goal, that is creating, 'Zalingam'.
@@saneperson101The "resentment against the government of Manipur", the "disagreement against the Meitei's demands for ST status" were pretexts for their actual goal, creation of 'Zalingam'. You can look it up from papers about 10 years back where the Kukis painted the 99% of the map of Manipur green as 'Kukiland' over and over again. This is no secret.
@@saneperson101Speaking of violence, if you look up at local dailies, try the English dailies, even as of now, you will see that it is the Kukis that always initiate the violent attacks. The Meiteis genuinely do not want the violence but if we are attacked at our own homes we've got no choice but to defend and respond in kind. Crazy thing is it is not the job of the Meitei civilians to defend themselves against the heavily armed and trained Kuki insurgents but the state/central forces. The Kuki insurgents have violated all the the terms and conditions of the so called "Suspension of Operation" but it remain firmly in place. The thousands of military and para-military forces that were brought in remained like an swollen appendage. If you are not already aware, the hill districts are now under the jurisdiction of Union Home Ministry, and the valley districts, under the state government, which is an unconstitutional arrangement. This bizarre arrangement is now making the Meiteis bear the brunt of the crisis due to the state and central forces containing agitations and protests done by the Meiteis but never against those done by the Kukis. Every time the Meiteis organize a rally or a sit-in protest, tear gas and rubber bullets greets them but never with the Kukis even when they are openly rallying with assault rifles and machine guns. What does that tell you other than the recorded fact that the BJP leadership made a deal with the Kuki insurgents? The Meiteis believe that this is a precendent to granting a separate state for the Kukis. The situation is that volatile and complicated.
A week earlier I was at Punjab University, there Manipuri students were protesting. And question which was asked by the reporters was so dumb .I wish they must go through abhijeet sir's this video .

The same situation will also prevail in Assam if the illegal immigration of Bangladeshis are kept unchecked. I am from Assam and it's seen here that most of the lands are occupied by these people most of those who have no NRCs even. In Kerala, the Manipur issue is shown entirely differently. As if KUKI, the Christian majority community is victimised by the Meitei which is Hindu majority community.

Can't Thank you enough for researching deeply the history of Manipur and bringing out key points and how people of Manipur were being oppressed and ignored in certain areas of policy making which would have prevented the current situation. Definitely not asking for sympathy but Meiteis have suffered a huge loss in terms of cultural identity, tradition and religion ever since the British rule. But Meiteis saw a slow rise in cultural and religious preservation since the last few years and i was very hopeful the glory of centuries old Meitei culture are being brought back. But then incidents like this happen and again threatening the cultural identity and it's always the outsiders threatening the preservation. They want separate land which rightfully belongs to the indigenous people of Manipur just because British played the divide and rule card and they were allowed to settle in Manipur.

With increase in illegal immigration from all neighbouring countries. Most important and urgent national issue is NRC, else national security and rights of citizens is under threat.
This should be one of the main national election issue, please create an awareness wave on this.

Everytime when we start talking sense with these facts, we will be bulldozed by all the current incidents and get diverted from understanding the actual root cause of the issue and who are the perpetrators. Until now, many of the Meitei scholar and social activists have tried to brought up these facts in many mainstream media interviews but none could be said as of the Kuki scholars or representatives. An indian living abroad may refuse to take OCI status, but can change his/her mind after 50 years and apply for OCI Status, there is no bar.

From the beginning I saw this as a failure of our intelligence agencies for not seeing this coming. And when it hit, it hit very hard that our own people suffered terribly. Even I wanted the Modi govt to first deploy our armed forces in Manipur that is yet to happen. The stench of external forces had been present in the heart of this very conflict since decades but was never dealt seriously. I still remember articles from newspapers how helpless naga people also fell victim to the missionaries while the ones who raised their voices against this crime were forever ignored to a state that the problem has become the normal nature today. I originally thought these oppressors were chinese but the bigger picture involves the west too. Even I agree with the second form of justice but I'm also sure that it's probably not going to happen in next 5-6 years maybe but yeah Modi's administration has failed to resolve this when they had time and now they discuss issues in parliament completely irrelevant. Never knew the original Meiteis are only given access to their ancestral property for about 5% is shocking beyond imagination. I still can't believe if we are on this long run of making Bharat retain its true original status but at the same time not considering our hilly neighbours, adressing their problems is very sad and makes me angry. Even I say that naming India to Bharat can wait but our own Maitei people can't afford another 10 years if this keeps on going. THEIR ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED NOW.

with help of church funds, programmes, Kuki came in positions of power, became police officers in highest position, bureaucrats, highest position in administration, large number of jobs in media houses and public plateform etc...
now, meiteis need to rise up, empower themselves, get their youth , students trained well in all fields, and should rise to these senior positions.
they can take the help of various org like VHP, RSS and also connect with patriotic groups across india.
meiteis should also impress upon the central govt about the need to be given assistance, so that they can rise up to such higher positions.

Always used to think that all northeast is Christian and of non-Bharat culture. It's a new learning for me that the Manipuri Maithis are truly Sanatani Bharatiyas and they were also found in Maha Bharatam.
Majority of the NE are hindus. Only 3 states are Christian majority.

There are some tribes in northeast who practice Sanatan dharma.

Irony of meities are in favour of kukis during the kuki-naga clash in 1993 and supported their policy of divide and rule by parting mostly naga inhabited districts in the hills. Today's meities are facing the consequences of their blunder decision and short-sightedness. Till today many nagas are a refugees in their own land, occupied by kukis. No government is interested or initiated to resettlement of those nagas villages.

Meiteis gave them shelter when they are running for their life from naga .
We never knew they were this mischievous.
Meiteis tried to stop the violence without understanding the root cause of Naga Kuki 1993 violence. Meiteis did not know that Kukis started ethnic genocide on the small Naga tribes. At that time there was no social media to reveal the truth so lack of knowledge of the cause.
Meiteis saw it as bigger Nagas trying to force upon smaller Kukis. Today only Meiteis came to realize the truth of NagaKuki violence.

*The security issues of Manipur are highly ignored.*
Many people forget how China and Pak are deeply active in Manipur. ISI has openly funded PULA, NSCN etc and many militant leaders have Infact trained in China. Terror orgs like LeT, AQ etc are operating in Manipur since early 2000. Myanmar has been the launchpad for such operations, be it smuggling arms or drugs.
It's not just a tribal, land acquisition or ethnic conflict. If not controlled, it'll soon turn into a secessionist movement.
*PS:* Many actually don't know but CIA and ISI actively worked together in Manipur. You can also look at "Project Brahmaputra". As of now, USA is working with India it seems due to the rise of China and its closeness with Pak.
*Fun fact:* PM Nehru actually struck a deal with CIA and allowed the flying of U2 planes to map India-China border which greatly helped us after 1962 war. It also helped USA later on when they were close to Pak.
*PS 2:* One can clearly see, the moment AFSPA was removed and the CM started action against drugs and land acquisition, the revolt was gonna happen. It was indeed a failure of state government that couldn't maintain law & order after that.

Our opposition had a great chance to pass a Manipur peace resolution in parliament but they're busy targeting PM first.
*Solution:* Both the sides should sit down and sign a peace treaty and accept what SC has to offer as mediator. Furthering the religious divide and initiating indigenous/tribal narratives will cause troubles.

Anyone with a brain to understand Geo politics 101 should know the proximity of China to the NE and the history of interference of china in the NE over decades. History tells us that wherever you keep region/people in neglect, it makes it easy for enemies to "fish" there - and china, pak & US have been fishing there for decades. Question is why is the Indian administration and basic intelligence so weak when they know their weak areas (as pointed above)? Our army has been there for decades - didn't we gather any intelligence and figure out how to take an approach which will keep the region in peace and aligned with the rest of the country?
It’s a big fishy game happening in Manipur, starting with 🍪 invasion of Manipur and then drugs peddling and forced land acquisitions and taking over the entire state basically from the locals! Hinduism in manipur is followed simultaneously with sanamahism. Every meitei house have the shrines of the old meitei gods in the eldest family members' room. This is not possible with Abhramic religions.
