Speed tip: Many of the windows which went all around the building could have been done by selecting the whole loop (alt+click) while in face select mode. I noticed you were doing Ctrl+shift+click where alt+click would have been much more efficient. Great challenge, man!! Keep it up, and I recommend nominating other blender artists to follow your example.
@@Imphenzia you should also try out the "multi-user" plugin for blender to do a speed build with a couple of blender friends. People would love to see what kind of things you can build when you have 4 people working at the same time. gitlab.com/slumber/multi-user
@@Imphenzia Just to add on to this, it will loop in whatever direction the edge your cursor is closest to. So if you are close to the upper edge it will loop vertical, if you're close to a side edge it will go horizontal. You probably knew this but I used this tool for like 3 months without being able to figure out how it was choosing the direction to loop!
and so the E to Extrude and S to Scale I to inset R to rotate ect... this is where it began... and you thought viewers would get feed up.. but we love it..
If you hold alt you can select an entire loop of faces, verts, or edges. Rather than circling the model and ctrl clicking. Saves an immense amount of time. I love the content, keep it up! Very inspiring
With a 10 minute challenge you can't say "I don't have the time" any more. It's 10 minutes! I love this, hopefully I'll get good enough soon to share what I do when I follow this series
@Imphenzia when you want to select all the faces on a surface like you're donig at 4:39 for instance, you can use Select Linked Flat Surfaces (under Select- Select linked) and it will do it for you. You can add it to a hotkey or the quick menu so it's super quick. You can also expand the "sharpness", so it selects faces that are angled!
Thanks yet again for another great build. Watching your videos at slightly lower playback speed and I can soak up exactly what keys and commands you are using. Cheers. As a request, could you try and show us how to build an opaque polytunnel? I am trying to model all the buildings in my village and there are quite a few with these structures in their gardens. Many thanks. Brian
Really enjoying these. Nice work, dude. Wanted to say what everyone else is saying about loop selecting lol... Also, love the music during the process!
Thanks! Yes, I missed about clicking on the edge when loop selecting faces, that is mentioned in the video that will be published today. Also, glad you like the music. In the most recent videos it's my own music and some of the other ones use some stock music too.
@@Imphenzia you do music too? Thats pretty cool man! I DO LIKE THE MUSIC, VERY MUCH SO lol. Well, looking forwards to seeing your next vid! Keep them coming! They are really helpful and inspirational.
Maybe you're doing it in one of the following videos but... why not saving a default blend file with cavity, texture and all the stuff as a startup file? It'd save loads of time
This is awesome! Cities is one of the things I really want to make in Blender. I'm alright with drawing organic shapes pretty well, but when it comes to perspective and urban environments I'm useless. I'm hoping to use Blender to add too my art arsonal, doing the big blocky shapes and perspectives for me. So this is the PERFECT tutorial for me! DINOSAUR! Do a dinosaur! An Amargasaurus. Lets see if you can do those spines.
whats crazy is i feel like my days in halo 3 forge brought me here. that and many and many hours playing ark survival evolved. you have given me a revelation man. this building method is what i needed. thank you. any tips on how to scale it huge and get the camera in there the correct scale?.
How about doing a football stadium? You could have the stands, the concourse, the press box, the sky boxes, the scoreboard. Just don't try to do individual seats. :)
@@Imphenzia This is definitely old, but in order to do that, could you maybe do a loop select and then a checker de-select for every 8-10 faces to make the walkways/railings? Then maybe an inset with a basic design for the chairs. I don't think you could model one individually and place it in all those spots, but this video is also the farthest I have made it with Blender. I have only been to an American football stadium, but I assume the outer layout is relatively similar.
When I do something like extruding (or in-truding in this case) the rooftops, I would want it to be exactly the same amount for all buildings. if the distance of the insetting and extruding are different by a non-zero amount, I know it would drive me insane. This is where my crippling perfectionism really hurts me.
6:38 - 7:13 was soo painful. just have face selection mode then alt right click on the edge between the faces and it will select the entire ring of faces D:
thks for shre, can u help me? i am learning how make things in blender to print on my elegoo mars, but i have a lot of problems about "merge" meshes, you have any tip to "consolidate" many obj in the scene to make printable?
Even as a complete n00b to Blender, I wonder why, for the street, you didn't just Select Similar: Coplanar. I didn't even know the option existed but I knew there had to be a faster method than Shift-clicking everything. So I just searched "Select" and found it. Coulda saved yourself 20 seconds.
@@Imphenzia Thank you for doing these 10 minute builds. Blender is so powerful that my brain freezes, and your videos help me actually create and move forward with learning. Just pure, improvisational creativity.
If I can advise you, it would be nice if you first showed us what you did in 10 minutes and in the end the finished model with a little more time (just to finish things left half)
Hi!! Thanks, glad you like it! I made the music in this video myself, the first track is called "I Am Imphenzia - Chillout Edit", then it's "Spirit Within You - Chillout Edit", and the last track is "Time Travel". It's available on imphenzia.com or on Spotify =)
Such rapid urbanisation. I remember when this city block was empty. Seems like it was just 10 minutes ago.

Thanks a lot! That was a very useful tip because I've always tried to loop select on the face itself rather than the edge. So thanks again :)

Great video as usual! For a future video suggestion I will suggest the following: An aircraft carrier!
you make it look easy

Great! I think you should try the draw selection tool. Press c!
At 7 minutes you could have used Alt + left click to select the face loop and press Shift + Alt + left click to add face loop.
Yes! I was thinking the same. He could save quite a bit of time with this tip.
I was weeping at the possibilities if he had remembered to do this! Of course there's always the pressure to keep in mind.
Good job Stefan. These sort of exercises are awesome to push the creativity in such a short period of time :)
Another good one
man i love your videos thanks!
Game content! Thanks for posting! :)
Very cool. Wow - that would take me over 1 hr+. Try and make a dockyard scene with a Nuke sub in the harbour and some war ships.

Loved (and liked) as always.
Look up checker deselect, very powerful tool
you can just hold Alt and select an edge to select a full loop. it will save a lot of time (sorry for the bad english). this one looks amazing. :)
Thanks for the tip! Glad you like it :)
this work in face mode)
wow this even easyer then my variant ))

You should use alt + click edge to ring select. That will make it faster
Instead if control for selecting windows, you can use alt shift click and it will circle all the faces on the direction of the line you click
Yes, I found that out too through comments so thanks. I kept wanting to loop select on faces instead of on the edges between them, doh =)
I'm curious why you didn't use loop select when doing the glass?
This is so cooool!
Nice videos. Subscribed. And how can I try out these models in Unreal Engine?? Seems .blend isn't supported
you can use alt right click for loop select like windows.
Great! What do you think about making simple animations in 10 minutes using Blender?)
excellent
build a single tower with more detail. Nice video btw
Thanks for this! Can you make a tutorial on how you export the final design?
for those windows that wrap around the building you can just double click and it'll select the whole loop
nice one
Great work, would you be able to do Voltron or Megazord? I think it's be a great challenge for 10mins
