  • The books of Galatians and Ephesians are deeply worshipful precisely because they are richly theological. Both of these letters revel in the triumphant work of Jesus Christ’s atonement and proclaim the work of the Holy Spirit that binds Christ to His redeemed people. In this message, Steven Lawson teaches that the doctrines of grace beckon Christians to give all glory to Almighty God.

We gentiles were drafted in the predestined Jewish people salvation, by accepting by faith the God Sonship of Jesus and His death for our sins. Only through this belief we were given the privilege of becoming Gods children .The LORD ordained the destiny for salvation for all those who will believe in His Son , His death for them and His grace. From the foundation of His world God established the requisite and plan for eternity , all had to believe in His Son as their Redeemer and Savior. He predestined for all the rules for the entrance to His kingdom’. Jesus being the center of all, in Him, through Him for God’s glory.

    God's chosing [ choice or election or predestination] of us , has a purpose behind it. Eph 1:4a to be found in Christ/ Messiah.;
to b found in wholesomeness [ holy] n blameless [ All d blame was placed on Christ, so that we can b regarded as without blame]. Many R called , but few R chosen. Eph 1:11 We were chosen , predestined to b found in Him, according to his plan/ purpose/ will. Every 1 were called. d contrast in d verse to balance 'few' has to b contrasted with 'many'. The calling comes 1st, then comes d choice [ chosen], n they're based on the fruit of life [ fruit of d Spirit]. So there is a calling @ d founding of d world, n choice of selection comes after verification of fruit.

This is the Calvinistic belief of a chosen people , not all people are under the grace of God from the death on the cross of Jesus for the whole world.Ephesians 2:4 - 6 He made us up together and sit together in the heavenly places in Christ. I’d, not only those chosen , John 3:15 That whoever believes in Him... not only the chosen one, all are chosen we only have to believe, and in verse 17 it is clear “For God did Not send His Son into the World to condemn the world, but that the World through Him might be saved”. All choose individually their destiny , that is what free will means!

If Jesus paid the sin debt of every human ever, who you claim are the chosen ones, then how could any go to hell if their sin debt was paid through Jesus? On what basis are they in hell? They would have no sin as it was paid for. The purpose of the cross was sin and only sin. Do not add belief to the cross. It is how we respond to the gracious debt He paid for us. The whosoevers are the elect who do. Anyone can come if they want to. But they don't want to. Their guilt remains their own.

I love this quote from John Wesley that I found.
“Calvinists, who deny that salvation can ever be lost, reason on the subject in a marvelous way. They tell us, that no virgin’s lamp can go out; no promising harvest be choked with thorns; no branch in Christ can ever be cut off from unfruitfulness; no pardon can ever be forfeited, and no name blotted out of God’s book! They insist that no salt can ever lose its savor; nobody can ever “receive the grace of God in vain”; “bury his talents”; “neglect such great salvation”; trifle away “a day of grace”; “look back” after putting his hand to the gospel plow. Nobody can “grieve the Spirit” till He is “quenched,” and strives no more, nor “deny the Lord that bought them”; nor “bring upon themselves swift destruction.” Nobody, or body of believers, can ever get so lukewarm that Jesus will spew them out of His mouth. They use reams of paper to argue that if one ever got lost, he was never found. John 17:12; that if one falls, he never stood. Rom. 11:16-22 and Heb. 6:4-6; if one was ever “cast forth,” he was never in, and “if one ever withered,” he was never green. John 15:1-6; and that “if any man draws back,” it proves that he never had anything to draw back from. Heb. 10:38,39; that if one ever “falls away into spiritual darkness,” he was never enlightened. Heb 6:4-6; that if you “again get entangled in the pollutions of the world,” it shows that you never escaped. 2 Pet 2:20; that if you “put salvation away” you never had it to put away, and if you make shipwreck of faith, there was no ship of faith there!! In short, they say: If you get it, you can’t lose it; and if you lose it, you never had it. May God save us from accepting a doctrine, that must be defended by such fallacious reasoning!” ~ John Wesley

      Romans 8:14
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back in fear, but you received a spirit of adoption, through which we cry, Abba, Father! The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if only we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
      Romans 8:28
We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose. For those he foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined he also called; and those He called He also justified; and those He justified He also glorified.
      Romans 8:33
Who will bring a charge against God's chosen ones? It is God who acquits us. Who will condemn?
      Romans 8:38
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

@@mikemccormick9667 Now you are committing a genetic fallacy by dismissing a perfectly valid, scriptural based, argument simply because of its source. I have no great love for John Wesley, but his quote concisely references many of the times which the Apostles, and yes even Christ himself warns believers about falling away. The scripture remains true regardless of who is quoting it. I'll take Jesus' word over Calvin's any day.
I too am convinced of Romans 8:38. Nothing can separate us from God's love. The one item conspicuously missing from Paul's list is ourselves. We are the only thing that can reject or turn away from the salvation offered by our Lord. Unlike the tyrant portrayed by Calvin, our God will not force someone to love Him when they have chosen not to do so.

Jesus is God. His death sacrifice wasn’t so much about his human body as much as it was a spiritual death.
Jesus simply getting nailed by Romans didn’t save me. It was that the wrath of God was poured out on his Jesus Godly being.
Jesus was a separate person from the Father but the same essence which is God. God judge the second part of the Trinity Jesus God in the flesh. Instead of Judging us.
So Jesus spiritually was judged by The Father. That is the real “death” not just a “human sacrifice” because your right a human sacrifice could not do anything.
It’s the fact that he is also God being judged spiritually was the actual sacrifice. He was judged by the father so you don’t have to be judged by The Father after you die. What a great gift He was punished like a sinner so you Could be treated as a perfect person like Jesus.

"Salvation in Galatians & Ephesians: Foundations of Grace"
Hmmm kind Sir...what about the contradiction of James and Paul when it comes to Salvation...
Where James said, "One MUST work with Faith". And Paul said, "NO, only Faith alone!".
James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. VS. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
And yet Hebrews said, "Salvation could be lost; if they sinned after hearing the truth"! But Jesus said, "ALL sins will be forgiven; EXCEPT for only ONE Sin.
Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. VS. Mark 3:28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men (mankind), even blasphemies howsoever they shall blaspheme: Mark 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit has never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation (Meaning Hell).
End of Story and I rest me case...
...In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

I must admit I'm struggling with what he says as being the full explanation. The Jews/Israel were referred to as the elect and a chosen nation, yet only a remnant was saved. Israel was judged and punished by God many times, but provided they repented and were obedient, they were in a covenant relationship with Him. God chose them not because they were special, but so God could demonstrate to other nations what a relationship with God as King could be; a light to the world.
Paul's writings also suggest that if we reject God there comes a point when he rejects us. Romans 1:28: "And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done."
Why did Jesus tell the disciples to shake the dust off their feed in towns where people did not respond to Christ? Did those people not make a choice?
In terms of faith and works, I would say that works pleasing to God are the natural outcome of our inner change that follows salvation. If there were no change then we have not been saved.

      @@jmccullough662 Well said!
For Sadly...the beginning had 12 discrete "Tribes"; But 10 of them became SO horrible, "Abominable Sinners"; that God almost annihilated all of the 10 twice. But because of His love He repented; of what He was going to do to those wretched rascals...
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
And 'circa 800 yrs after Jesus (who IS God) created those 12 tribes; it had dwindles down to only two tribes! Judahites and Benjamites. But...because the fact that the Judahites were way more populated than the Benjamites. And as was...The Benjamites simply amalgamated into the Judahites.
And over time; their tribe became just "Jude's". In English it is "Jews".
Worse; Jesus gave them 40 more years (after the crucifixion) to believe: that Jesus WAS their "Messiah" (Christ in English). But they would NOT do that. So Jesus in 70 AD, turned His back on them forever. However, not so much that any one could become true Christians. To the End of the World!
And to this day less that 1% of them; have ever converted from their satan-led, Godless religion; to Jesus and His Kingdom. Where He makes them Born Again. The ONLY true Christian.
