This is one of their early hits from 1973... ZZ Top started as a boogie rock band in Texas, who loved old R&B, southern blues, rock... In the 80's, ZZ Top incorporated electronic beats and became even more successful. Guitarist Billy F. Gibbons met Jimi Hendrix in the late 60's, when the teenager's band opened for the Jimi Hendrix Experience. The legendary guitarist cited Gibbons as his favorite guitarist before he passed away in 1970. ZZ Top came together around 1969 as a trio, when Billy Gibbons (guitar & vocals) started a new band... Frank Beard (drums) joined, followed by Dusty Hill (bass & vocals)... The band was signed by 1971 and began touring relentlessly... releasing 5 albums in 6 years, 3 of them went gold (half million copies each sold in US) With success came excess, and by 1977, Frank Beard opted to take a break to deal w/ his addictions... ZZ Top decided to take time off as well. Reuniting in 1979, Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill returned w/ large, unshaven beards... insiders thought that was a distinct image for ZZ Top, so they stayed w/ that look... the irony was Frank Beard was the only one w/ no beard... 😂 ZZ Top's 'Deguello' in 1979 went platinum, and the next album 'El loco' went gold in 1981. Inspired by the new wave of synth pop bands from the UK, ZZ Top recorded their 1983 album 'Eliminator' w/ synthesizers and electronic beats... they also debuted on MTV w/ their distinct bearded look, and the album became a massive hit - 10 million copies sold (certified diamond in sales) in the US, and a huge hit across Europe. 'Afterburner' arrived in 1985 and went 5X platinum (5 million copies).... 'Recycler' sold platinum (1 million copies) in 1990, and ZZ Top signed a new record deal w/ RCA Records in the 90's. In the 90's, ZZ Top started strong w/ the 'Antenna' album in 1994 going platinum, but subsequent albums failed commercially... 'Rhythmeen' (1996)... 'XXX' (1999) and 'Mescalero' (2003) ... In the 2000's, ZZ Top kept touring, but parted ways w/ their longtime manager/producer Bill Ham... In 2012, the album 'La Futura' was released and made the US top 5 chart. In 2019, the band marked 50 years w/ the documentary movie on their career - "ZZ Top: That little ol' band from Texas". In 2021, ZZ Top returned to touring the US, but Dusty Hill (bass & vocals) had to step out for health reasons... Dusty Hill passed away soon after in 2021. ZZ Top has been touring w/ a fill-in bassist.
Yes "Gimme All Your Lovin" -- "Sharp Dressed Man" -- "Legs" -- "Cheap Sunglasses" 80's is the BEST ZZ TOP -- Had Tons of Hits!!!!!! Texas Boys!!!!!!! 🎸🎸🎸
Gotta respectfully disagree. As an old dude I preferred this Texas Red Dirt bluesy style over their 80's more pop style stuff. Although I did buy all of their 80's stuff. This style sounded more rough/un-refined to me.
excellent suggestions! love me some ZZ my fave is hands down I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide...love the lyrics in it lol. .. . " they smoking Lucky Strikes and wearing nylons too..." love it
Their whole first album is solid. They called it "ZZ Top's First Album". Genius! I wasn't as big a fan of their 80s sound, but that it when they really had some monster hits like "Gimme All Your Lovin". For a recommendation, check out "I Thank You"
Three dudes from Texas who can really rock and play the Blues. One of the top Bands back in the 1970s, and early 80s. Billy Gibbons is one fine guitarist. They must be in their mid 70s these days. An absolute ass-Kicking Band.
ZZ Top are the real deal (rest in peace Dusty Hill). They're one of the longest touring bands in history, started in the 60's and are still going today despite the recent passing of one of the members. And in case you were wondering, the guy you hear on the guitar and vocals is the legendary Billy Gibbons. If you feel like checking them out again, their song Waiting For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago is a classic.
The Who started 5 years before ZZ Top and are still touring. But recognised as the longest touring band is The Rolling Stones, they started in '62, 7 years before ZZ Top was formed, still producing and were touring until a certain pandemic stopped it all.
They are the longest running band ever with the same members. Of course the streak ended with the death of Dusty but that is still a great accomplishment.
@@bigs1546 The longest touring band STILL with the original members. No additions, no subtractions. Neither the Who or Stones, or any other rock band can say that.

The inspiration for this song is the old Chicken Ranch brothel outside La Grange, Texas. It was famous, and on the mind of every teen boy when I was in high school about four counties over. There was no objection to its existence, especially in town. The madam was a well known character and generous to any needy cause. A rather greasy sort of newspaper man in Houston set out to promote himself by targeting the Chicken Ranch, embarrassing the Governor, who ordered it shut down. I don't know where the state legislators went after if closed. Probably wherever football sponsors used to treat their teams when they could no longer use the Chicken Ranch. There are many stories, including how it got its name. The story was made into a successful play, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and a film starring Burt Reynolds as the sheriff and Dolly Parton as the madam. The film has some wonderful musical and song and dance numbers, including Dolly singing I Will Always Love You, way, way before Whitney.
I currently live 18 miles from La Grange. And I lived in Houston when Marvin Zindler got the Chicken Ranch shut down, though I was just a kid and didn't understand the whole bit.
Marvin Zindler was a TV guy, with his flaming white toupee, famous for "SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE"! declarations, that asshole, and the sheriff in LaGrange punched Marvin in the mouth
This band right here is 3 guys who play drum bass and lead guitar. The bassist recently died but they have been playing together for 50 years or so . They are blues, rock , and everything else . They used to hang out with Jimi Hendrix . They were inspired by his music and guitar playing . They have kept his style of music alive . Legends never die in music they just keep passing on their legacy . Love your channel guys !! Keep up the good work !!
Fun fact: The drummer is the only one without their patent long beard, his name is Frank Beard. Haha, I always got a kick outta that. _Check out Waitin for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago, Tush, Cheap Sunglasses, and Just Got Paid_ before you listen to any of their 80's hits
Yessssss! Not only ZZ Top but one of my favorites! If you're looking for more 🔥 that isn't the typical picks, Tube Snake Boogie and Tush are beyond dope...you won't be disappointed! Love the reaction...you guys are killing it!
I've been lucky enough to see them live 3 times in my life. They've never had a bad decade. I love it all. They're stuff from the 70s has a more bluesy feel. Which I can listen to all day.
I'm very, very honored to have seen them twice live in concert. Whatever I paid for the tickets, I can't recall, but I would pay triple to see them again, but no longer possible. R.I.P. Dusty.
Now for a chuckle type, try Tube Snake Boogie or Pearl Necklace (yes, exactly what you're thinking lol), but ZZ Top has tons of great songs, and my favorite is I Need You Tonight.
Funny you should mention cars. ZZ Top is seriously into cars and in their later videos are represented by The Eliminator, a custom rod. Check out Sharp Dressed Man.

I have always been a 70s fan. The Beatles were still mingling, The Stones, Foghat, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bad Company, Southern rock starts, and it totally beats the pants off the 80s. The 80s was all poppy stuff.
1970s ZZ Top always sounds like a great studio jam session. Very few bands can pull off that raw energy in the studio. Their 1980s stuff isn't as soul and blues based, to much electronica.

Sometimes the best song from a group isn't their most popular. A lot of that has to do with radio play. I've played Zeppelin songs that a friend of mine who says she's a Zeppelin fan had never heard and she was shocked who it was.
La Grange is a little town in Texas that had an USA famous bordello called The Chicken Ranch...That's what this song is about....Dolly Pardon and Burt Reynolds did a movie called The Chicken Ranch...comedy. Yes, it’s about a whorehouse. The ‘70s ZZ TOP is the best. “Brown Sugar”, “Just Got Paid”, “Waitin’ For the Bus/ Jesus Just Left Chicago”, “Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers”, “Nasty Dogs & Funky Kings”, “Blue Jean Blues”, “Heard It On the X”, “Tush”, “Arrested For Driving While Blind”, “I’m Bad, Nationwide”, “Fool For Your Stockings”, “Cheap Sunglasses”,… You can’t go wrong.

My personal favorite is"Rough Boy" and is also one of their slower songs. But you really cant go wrong with any of them!!!!!
Awesome!!!...I first saw ZZ Top in concert in 75 or 76 and they just kill it!!!..great job!

Best 3 man band ever!

Jimi Hendrix mentored Z.Z.Top and help get them started. They have a great catalog of tunes. Try "Blue Jean Blues"

"Tush" is my favorite ZZ Top song. But they have quite a few good ones. They a down to earth rock band
ZZ Top has always been one of the top artists out there. So many innuendo in a lot of their songs. Great to see y’all appreciate the music.

Jesus left Chicago is a mic dropper!
Another power trio
They have a car song called. "Manic mechanic" a lot of Billy's vocals come from howling wolf and the famous blues guys from the 40s and 50s
"I Thank You" One of the best , early songs. I doubt if it would radio play today lol.

Zz Top.. "Gots'ta Get Paid" 🤘😎
Watching that girl's face while hearing the outro solo for the first time was priceless.

Love my Home Town boy's. They have a closet full of great stuff. Enjoy

The modern version of 'I Just Got Paid' is excellent though. Just saying.
