The Sabian Triple HiHat
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 лип 2021
- Here is an awesome piece in the Pfeifer Collection. It's a rare Sabian Triple Hihat stand with Sabian Pro Cymbals. There are three cymbals on this hat, a 10" top, 14" flat flanged middle and a 14" bottom. The top cymbal moved down, the bottom moves up and the middle cymbal is fixed. Sabian made a remote version as well as a version with AA cymbals. The top cymbal can be moved up on the rod to be a splash. The stand can also operate with only two cymbals, keeping the functionality of the top and bottom cymbal both coming together, as opposed to a traditional stand where only the top cymbal moves. Such a cool piece to have in my collection!
*casually nailes it*
There is literally no reason this should exist... I love it!
I can see why this didn’t stick around long.
Right?!? It's pretty close to zero on the practicality scale for sure, but I like collecting this outlier stuff.
Some cool sounds and possibilities though.
Can u mention high hat stand model please
@@qaisergul1000 Can you have any neurons successfully fire in your brain matter?
Anyone can share product model number of this high hat stand ,thankyou in advance
Do the chops come with?
That is an awesome hat. I have no business owning something so nice.
Wow! I remember the review of these in Modern Drummer about a million years ago.
Yup, usually with a pic of Portnoy playing one. He still does and will probably have one on the road with Dream Theater coming up.
So simple, yet so complex!
I wish they still made them. They’d go well with my collection. Kind wish they were AAs or AAXs though, or even HHX. They probably would’ve caught on better if they weren’t B8 bronze.
Hey, Joseph! They did have an AA version. I have those as well and they sound great. Sabian also made a remote version which was super nuts. The top cymbal can really be anything and the bottom can be anything as long as you bore the hole out to about an inch diameter. It’s the middle cymbal that’s the trick. It’s basically a flat cymbal with a 1.5 inch downward flange. I don’t remember what the new price was at the time, but it was a hard sell in the first place, even with artists like Portnoy flying the flag high. This kind of stuff is completely in my wheelhouse, though.
@@OfficialDarenPfeifer Thought it was funny Sabian had a special stand made for these haha Probably one of the craziest innovative products circa mid-late 90's early 2000's.
@@OfficialDarenPfeiferhave you ever tried a Flat Hat bottom in the middle? If I had that stand, I’d spend DAYS trying all kinds of combinations out. 🤯
Looks like a hi-hat bottom, a china and a splash, pretty wild
Basically, yeah. The bottom cymbal is normal but it has a 1" center hole. The center cymbal is totally flat with a 1.5" edge flange and the top is really a normal splash.
I.. Ive only ever seen one of these in person.. uh not EVER HAVE I EVER SEEN ONE EVEN ON A VIDEO LOOK THWT BRIGHT AND SHINY. HOW LUCKY YOU ARE TO HAVE MY DREAM HATS BRO!.
well that's definitely unique.
That sounds fun.!!! I want one! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🖤🖤
They’re super fun!…especially if you see them as their own instrument instead of a traditional hihat replacement.
I had been making a stack like this for years and never knew this existed, lol this is cool, its literally the stack i used to make with a 14 crash and china and a splash on top but in hi hat form :)
I have some hand hammered HHX but I think they might be 15inch. The stand is what I want.
Very cool....I want one...
I think I just f**king fell in love
I remember when this came out...and died in about a week. Sounds good though, innovative...might make a come back some day.
Yup! Even with Portnoy shilling, it's just too much for the average bear. My collection is full of overly engineered here-today-gone-tomorrow drum gear. I find these things fascinating.
Me too @@OfficialDarenPfeifer
Put a 18 on the bottom, complete the stack.
Gotta hear this full kit jam
I. NEED. THIS.
That thing is cool
I think so!!
Jesus christ I need it now
Haha! Sorry not sorry!
I remember those. Every 20-12-15-13x5 OCD playing teenager HAD to have one of those....until they found out how much they cost. =)
Yeah, the second of two big issues with this. The first being that it wasn’t a product that drummers really wanted or needed. I have the remote version as well. That one is even more EXTRA!
I used to have one of these. Absolutely hated it!
Yeah, it's a clunker! I like collecting this kind of stuff, though. I definitely wouldn't use one on a gig.
I remember these in modern drummer.
Yup!…every month for a hot year, and usually with a pic of Mike Portnoy playing it.
Yesss Sir
Trihat?
My dream
Would be fun to experiment with a 14 China and better top and bottom cymbals!
Yeah man! These are the B8 Pro cymbals. I also have the better AA cymbals Sabian made as well. The bottom cymbal has to have a 1" center hole. Outside of that, there's a ton of spacing adjustment you can do. Maybe a center China would work!
3 pandeirola pra mim...😅😅😅 pra vcs que tocam com as mãos ,só duas basta ....😮😮😮
I want that highhat
This is LITERALLY, the coolest hit hat rig I've ever seen. I want one!!! Only problem is, the PRICE!!!😅🫡
Niiiice!
Amaziiing
Wanna see the sloshy motion and hear the sound as well...
More play plz!!
star studios
When youtube suggests a person you used to live near in Philly.
🤣 What’s up?!?
The idea is so damn rad, too bad it died out super quick.
Yeah, there were a lot of things going against it from the beginning...cost, size, proprietary cymbals. Was it supposed to replace a traditional hihat or just be another hihat on your kit? Either way it was a hard sell. There was even a remote/cable version which I also have here. I love them both but they're not something I would gig with.
Didn't know Kirk Hammett played drums😂
I want one. I thought it was cool.
So you gotta buy a whole extra cymbal and it adds nothing to the sound? I'm sold.
Cool
That's fantastic man. Where and how much?
They were ahead of their time like most cool gear 🤷🏿♂️
I think so as well. Drummers saw that as a hihat replacement instead of a separate instrument in and of itself. The price didn’t help either. I have this one and the remote version which is even more over the top.
I swear that Portnoy used it on his Siamese Monster. On the smaller kit.
Oh yeah! He still uses one. You can see it on the recent kit shot he posted from the latest Dream Theater sessions.
Is that red snare with the gold hoops the one for sale on reverb rn?
That’s my Mastro snare. It’s not for sale but those snares do frequent Reverb. They’re pretty cool if you can find one that’s not completely wrecked. They are all plastic after all. About $100-150 should get you a really nice one.
would be cool if the 10" hat doubled as a splash
It kinda does already. I suppose you could also raise the 10 higher on the rod so it doesn't clash on the middle cymbal. You'd still have the middle and bottom as hihats, but the 10 would just hover above.
Hi-hats from Mars 😂
For sure!
What woww🔥🤩
Ja, the ringo plastic snare!!
Mastro!
Didn’t Mike Portnoy used to have one of them?
Yes. He still uses it! You can see one too as far right side on the latest Dream Theater studio kit shots.
Is that middle hat cymbal shaped like a China cymbal?
Kinda. It’s totally flat but with a downward flange about 2” from the edge.
Missed mistake to not call the TriHats
Right?!?
Hi bro how I can make that arrangement
😮 too expensive. But I have seen them
So CooL!! How to setup? Is it need some hardware or can making use some other eqiupment?
Yes, the stand itself is built for that function. The stand and cymbals were sold together.
Is this analog or digital
Digilog!!
Again but 20 inch hats next time
I believe that would create a black hole and swallow the earth.
🤘🏻😲
I want it
Bro just played the end of one by Metallica on a hi hat
Do they still make this?
Someone Send this to RdavidR quick
What's wrong with the original hi hat
id use those cymbals indivisually
myy neee NEE
WHY?
🤣🤣I swear there were so many 90's era drum inventions that sit firmly on the WHY!?! bench. Triple hihats, Firchie, Molecules, I collect all the WHY?!?! stuff.
Looks cool, but the more I gigged the less stuff I cared to deal with.
Yup, sounds about right!
Where i could buy the tilter? i just only have the stand!
Hi, Georgina. I'm not sure what you mean. Do you have the Triple Hihat Stand? There is no tilter like on a cymbal stand.
Sweet
Another excuse to overcharge
What a bad idea
😂 That should be the name of my collection...The Pfeifer Drum Archive of Bad Ideas!
Cymbal companies just bored at this point lol
can I please have a snare🔥
Cos' ha che non va un normale ho hat da 14"? ....
Sicuramente, chi ci guadagna, è sabian, che ci vende 4 piatti in un unica volta.😊
Doesn't sound much different
It’s insanely loud and complex, but not really in a way I’d call practical.
And sounds like shlt
sound is meh
Yeah, but it's a LOT of meh. They're insanely loud.
Ahhhh! I don't like change!
if someone gets it umm..
Wow. 100 out of 100 on the scale of useless
🤣🤣💯Agree!
sounds meh
Pretty pointless
After listening about 57 times,😂 I've come to realize that that "hihat" sounds quite tinny and a bit thin. Love the idea, but I'm not that impressed with the sound. 😢🫡🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
