  • Do you think a professional remote hi hat would sound any better?

I've been thinking about doing this for quite a while now, glad to see somebody executing on it! You can buy pretty long Bowden cables in the form of engine stop cables on eBay/Amazon. I think these would function just as well if not better than bike cables for this purpose and it should be easy to get larger lengths.

Actually that's a great idea. I saw some great brake cables at the local motorcycle shop that would probably be ideal!

Pretty cool what you're trying to do. I'm considering building a remote HiHat. The Griffin remote HH is about 185.bucks on eBay. I have more time than money. A shift cable for a automatic transmission was what I thought might work there's a spring in those. PullaPart junk yard might be a place to get one to build a prototype. I sold a friend my double kick pedal , now I want another that I can reverse to left hand. If you watch Harry Miree's video 5 Tips for Drumming Open Handed. You'll see how he has his pedals set up and know why I want another double kick pedal. You can see the Griffin pedal and how it's made somewhat from the photos. Good luck

Sweet! Thanks! Since school started again I have had to put a lot of projects on pause, but now that our school got quarantined for 2 weeks, i might have more time to pick up the project again (with a better cable!)

That moment when you put a ton of hard work replicating something an then try the original an find out it was a marketing gimmick to start 🤣

I feel like I could buy it for cheaper than what I really need to build it!

Hey mate. Did you end up finishing your project successfully?

I gave up on it to work on another project. If I pick it up again I will use a better brake cable.

Good idea! I kind of scrapped the project in favor of one day getting one like a Gibraltar or another.
