I was just planning to sell my PRO 40 and buy a Focusrite - isa-two. Until I saw this. :) The preamps of the PRO 40 are the same quality so I will just set it to standalone mode. Thank you!

I'm glad you are keeping it. There's not much point in upgrading, to be honest. I hate planned obsolescence. No need to generate more trash.
I have it paired with my Liquid Saffire, both running standalone, and I am very happy with them. The Liquid Saffire alone can deliver gorgeous "hi-res" recordings!

I have the Saffire Pro 40 and I recently purchased an Audient ID44. I have the Audient as the Master and the Saffire as the slave. Is it possible to use the Saffire’s Ins and Outs for analog equipment like a compressor? I don’t wanna use the outs of the Audient because they are limited, that’s why I want the outs if the saffire to enter the analog gear and re-enter the saffire through its inputs, then pass all that information through the Adat optical cable back to the Audient. Is this possible?

It should be. I don't see why not. If you have ADAT in and out from your Audient to the Saffire and the channels are mapped properly, you should be able to do that.
I actually have the 56 and the 40 connected and I send all outs to a mixing console with the outs of the console back through some of the inputs. This allows the players to change the monitoring volume during rehearsals without having to go to the computer, and it works quite well.

Did it work? Didn't see a follow up. Do you still have to use the firewire connection?

I still use it, yes. But I moved to a new garage and it’s kinda hard to film there.
I have it paired with the liquid 56 running at 96/24 using all the built in channels (no extra DAT)

@@Shiunbird ok,thanks, but do you still have to use the FireWire connection on the pro 40? I’m wanting get a new computer and want to switch to USB instead of FireWire, I hoping I will be able to use the Pro 40 as a ADAT expansion connected to a new USB interface as the master?

      @@briarboy8959 Taking that back…
If you preset it using a FireWire computer and save settings to the card, yes, it will do dumb ADAT, but I think you will be stuck to whatever configuration you choose. I think it won’t set bitrate automatically.

How can I use this with a windows computer without FireWire ?

You can’t. Get a FireWire card or a thunderbolt to FireWire dongle.
