Best review of this inteface found on the internet! I like your way of explaining things. You´ve been a great help for me through all your videos, Graham! :)
Love this review. I have been shopping between interfaces and saw this one. I'm sold now. Really appreciate the time you take to explain every function in all your videos. Thanks a bunch. God Bless
Graham, great job. Ive done audio and production for over 15yrs brother, and i love your videos and articulation. You know your stuff brother. Good Job! Thanks Marc Void
Just ordered this, can't wait to get it and start tracking. I recently upgraded pro tools 11. Thought I was never going to decide which interface I was going to upgrade to. Started with the M box 3 and P.T.L.E. Was thinking hard about M Box Pro 3 but I wanted to be able to expand more in ADAT. Think I made a good choice with the LS56. Can't get enough of your reviews and tutorials. Keep up the good work.
I tracked a harp player right after I retired my 002 (with Aphex outboard pres) and had no time to ramp up on the 56... thankfully she was very patient as I flipped through the liquid pres and tweaked harmonic adjust until we came up with PERFECTION. I now LOVE the liquid pres! Even with some PT9 interoperatability issues... I am really glad I retired the 002 and bought the Sapphire 56.
What a great review. Watched it several times. My profile is that of a acoustic fingerpicking guitarist with some use of hollowbody at times and in rarer cases a solid body with clean sound. In your opinion is the Eleven Rack inspite of all the guitar fx benefits, does it having only one xlr input overkill for me, and would it be better buying the focusrite liquid saffire 56 with all its benefits?
Just want to say thankyou so much for what you are doing for so many people here. I have just became involved in your forum and it is inspiring me hugely. I just have a very quick question. I am trying to keep everything as cheap as possible and obviously i need a smaller audio interface than this 8 in. Can you recommend something of this quality with just two audio ins?
Hi Graham, awesome review...thanks a lot for the in depth review!...and the songs sounds amazing too! Just got a few quick questions: Can you use the firewire connections on the unit to daisy chain up to another Focusrite...and what about to another audio interface such as the presonus Tube? An also, can you use this Focusrite unit with Pro Tools and Logic? Thanks again, right on!
rudeboy28712 had a great recommendation of you showing the mics and gain staging that you use to record. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the rest of us would love to see that video!
Really nice stuff man, I've been engineering in pro studios for a couple years now and have heard good and bad things in passing around there about the 56. You seem to know your stuff well, Do you think its worth it going for this piece of gear for my overdub studio? I use a good few external pre's so I really just want a good solid box with decent clock and converters. I'm just not that trusting in firewire gear. I'd like to go core but I cant afford it. what you think?
hey love your channel and all your tutorials helped me allot over this 1st year in the music production world but well the only gear i have is a behringer c1-u usb condensor mic and a pair of cheap sony headfones but honestly pretty damn good ones especially for the price and well just a laptop no speakers see im poor thats actualy the reason i tarted recording myself :p but i want to start upgrading and im thinking of buying the scarlett 2i2 bundle and i want to know your opinion if its worth it or not thanks bro keep making those tutorials im a fan honestly thank you for all the adice :)
Great review! I own the Saffire Pro 14 and was thinking about getting the 24. But I still want external Pre's. The liquid 56 looks like the perfect solution for expensive taste with a 26 year olds bank account.
Thanks for the review man! How do the mic pres/converters compare to apogee duet 2? I can live without the 28 inputs, but my basic concern is clean sound and enough headroom. What do you recommend? Apogee duet 2 or the liquid saffire 56? ?
Hey dude! Great review i know it's kinda outdated but im looking to get one of those A/I coz it still damn cool ^^^ N most of all cheap in 2nd hand market !!!! Do you know if it's still working on a Win10 OS with a Dungle 4 plugging a FW TI chipset ?
Nice review. I am gearing up to record live shows as well as some home studio projects. Preamps are one of the many things I will need to get going. I can see this is great for home studios, but would this work in a live setting? like, could I use an external mixer along with the digital mixer? can I record with 32 sample rate, while streaming live?
just got my own LS 56 today...and you gave me the first idea to get one...do you know of any good tutorials or know how that can breakdown the LS 56 to get the most out of it
Wonderful, Marvelous, and thanks.... Not only was the info well presented but the song at the end was a wonderful choice as well. To HIM be all Glory, Honor, and Power! AMEN....
yes, as long as you have a firewire connected device. I just bought one for my 2012 macbook pro running OSX Mojave, but i know Focusrite have released their Saffire MixControl software for Catalina too.
@@mariomgf3106 , so recording and mixing with it in your DAW is fine? I am thinking about buying one second-hand and that's why I'm asking about the drivers.
Hi would be great to have a little vid on room accoustics... like what accoustic matter you use, how you place it. and really a vid for a room home studio. thanks/.
Just saw this video. I enjoyed the video very much. I'm looking to getting this interface very soon, but I couldn't help but notice the foam behind your monitors. Do you mind tell me what type of foam that is and where to get it? Thanks dude!
Hey Graham, love your vids, a question, are there any audio interfaces that have 10+ XLR ins? i have found lots of 8 input AI's from the likes of Presonus and Focusrite and so on. however, i am into metal, and i need 10 channels to record my kit. are there any AI's for a budget home studio or can i use 2 8 channel AI's somehow? i've used studios a bit and have recorded before. but i've never set up my own studio before and the nature of my band demands more mics on at once. Thanks.
I use two Røde NT1 condenser microphones. And I used to use aFirewire 410 M-audio but my new iMac27(2013) does not support this hardware and I owned it since 2001
i had some problem with those clips in the back, my snake cables where pretty much stuck, after that i faver the xlr connecters they use on the octopre mkII dynamic. But the interface and the software makes up for the clip shisnitz a hundred times
Looks great. I am hoping to use this to record from my Yamaha 01v96v2 I use for live work. How many channels can you pass down the firewall cable to a DAW to record the raw tracks and re-mix later?
Hi, please have you a link for the tech specs of the Saffire 56 digital mixer (bit depht data, bit accumulator and bit coeffcient) to compare wit other digital mixer ? I know the last Saffire 56 update permits to program the unit to use as a stand alone digital mixer. Thanks much
hey Graham, i have the saffire 6 usb interface, and i have the art mp project preamp. and the saffires 2 inputs are xlr/intsr/line level all in one. when phantom power is off and the volume set to zero that's when it's line level, and theres a instrument button you press in when your plugging in instruments. but my question is do i plug xlr out from the preamp to the xlr in on the saffire 6, or do i go with 1/4 jack cause it has both?
could you tell me some studio equipment that connects via s/pdif because i really have not come across any like i have never seen a set of digital monitors even in commercial studios
Using Saffire Pro 40 for 6-7 years now in my studio, it’s a good interface, even though I need to have two adapters for it to work with my MacBook Pro 2019. FireWire to Thunderbolt 2, then Thunderbolt 2 to 3. I have a great desire to upgrade to Clarett 8PreX that Graham uses since 2016. Gonna afford it soon. Still I’ve recorded a lot of music through these years with my Saffire and it didn’t fail me at all.
Hello - Good evening - Could you help me with the following problem. I have the Saffire Interface 56 - I need to use an external compressor to make the I / O connection. Connections: OUT 3 of the interface to IN of the compressor - IN of the compressor to OUT 3 of the Interface. DAW used Logic Pro X - Is there any specific binding to do in Control MIX?
Awesome video. I recently bought the 56 and love it. However, I have a problem that maybe you can help with. It seems the 'Monitor' knob also controls the volume on the 'Headphones' knobs. Since I mix and track in the same room I need the my volume on my monitors down while my headphones are up...can't seem to figure it out. Thanks.
Great review and i'm just a click away from buying the 56 but i have a question to ask. i'm currently using presonus studio one and i don't want to switch to anything else. Are there any compatibility issues with saffire? Can you also tell me which DAW you use? thanks
Hey Graham, I currently have just one mic pre, a Great River ME-1NV, and I run it through a presonus firestudio into logic. The ME-1NV sounds AMAZING, but I'm limited to running every track I record through the same preamp (resulting in the same sound over and over) and I can't record stereo, unless I want to have one mic go straight into the presonus (which sounds weak in comparison). Should I sell the 1NV and presonus and get the 56? Will it sound as good as the ME-1NV?
Hi ! Thanks for review ! Do you have to plug the interface on 2 Firewire inputs, or does 1 Input is enough ? (I work on a MacBook pro, and I just have one Firewire input...)
I really like your Tutorials. I have question. I owned saffire 56 but now I got Apollo Quad and can I use saffire 56 with my apollo via ADAT cable? chain both together and how? please help me
Hullo. I wonder if someone could answer this for me. I am thinking of buying this but i am wondering if it is possible to use external pres with it and use the sapphire for conversion into daw only?
Is it really comfortable to work with headphone submixes through the driver? I think, it is much faster to regulate any volume in DAW straight (as example, vocalist wants to hear guitar louder then it is), then to open driver, configuring it and going back to the DAW again. Am I not right?
a question for saffire 56 users.. i have been using mine for about 6 months now, but it still seems weird that i hve to turn the gain up on the pre's to like 8 or 9 to get a good level with a dynamic mic.. (btw, works fine with condenser mics) i contacted focusrite and they say its normal because its "non linear" but it still confuses me a bit.. do any of you have any perspective on this? thanks for the video, very informative!

@raytrayt2001 Used a variety of mics from Kel Audio, Rode, and Behringer. Yes I recorded the entire track including drums.
Definitely a great interface for a band who wants to record live or someone who wants a flexible studio setup. Cool review!

Good stuff dude. I own the Focusrite pro 40. Hate I don't have the pre amp (liquid pres) changeability for sonic characteristics.
GOT The 56 1 year ago for my Studio! Love it! Done a full album with it!
i like the sound and the song. great review!

Did you use an analog compressor per channel or a post 2-ch compressor? Or is the compression software-plug in based? This sounds pretty good man.
