I have made this cake three times, as there is a farm right here in the town where I live that has their own peaches this time of year. Everyone agrees, this cake is a total winner! I add 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 30g crystallized ginger cut into small pieces. Amazing cake! Thank you, John! 🧡
Ok so I must be the only person that has subscribed solely because I want to be near your incredibly warm and loving energy. The kindness and sweetness that you exude fills up a room. Thank you for being your authentic self. It is inevitable that you will succeed in your endeavours. Much gratitude and love to you.
You little sweetheart! My Mama, God rest her soul, used to make peach cake. Thanks for the recipe and all those wonderful memories. Big hugs to you and your family. ❤
My husband thinks I’m a baking genius (thanks to your channel) John. This was and is one amazingly great recipe! Appreciate your excellent instructions.
I regularly make this cake (using canned peaches) because it's great to take for lunches, picnics etc. It never disappoints & transports well. Definitely a favourite now!
A Keeper, made a double batch yesterday and it is so delicious. I made my own sour cream using yoghurt, heavy cream and lemon juice, also I let the peaches rest in some sugar before as they were not so sweet. Thank you, John, lovely recipe and you are right, the cake itself is delicious
I bought 2 cases of fresh peaches for canning & jam. I made peach crumble last week. Making this cake Tuesday for a special friend coming for tea in the garden. Update: I've made 3 of these cakes. They are amazing. The cake itself is marvelous. Much thanks for this recipe.
I made this tonight for my hubby and he loved it! This is a great peach cake - a simple but impressive dessert. John Kannel's recipes haven't failed me yet! Thank you, John!
May I ask if you bake it in the middle or middle lower of the oven? Thank you!🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m always not sure about it, seems like it all depends on the cake..
I made this yesterday and even my husband asked for seconds which he never does for dessert! Served with fresh whipped cream and put a little cinnamon sugar on top before baking. Thanks John
I made this, he gave very detailed and complete instructions, ensuring you can succeed the first time (combined with your ingenuity). Adding Greek yogurt to the recipe makes the cake very delicious. I failed many times in beating butter to get a good texture, but after watching this video I was able to do it, he gives good instructions. Grateful for this cake to bring happiness to our family in the evening 🎉❤❤
Hi John, you won’t believe this, I got some peaches the other day, let my husband (who is also called John!) taste some and he said "they’d taste much better in a cake!" So thanks to you I now can! Will definitely make this…..Love your channel John….thank you! Xx 🇬🇧💕xX
I saw your video and was making this cake in a minute. Our plum tree was over abundant this year and I needed another way to use them. I’m sure my guests at dinner tonight will love it. I’ve never been disappointed by a John Kannel recipe
Absolutely delicious, John! Had three yellow nectarines that needed a great recipe to come along, and yours was amazing! Used turbinado sugar before baking, and powdered sugar dusting after, and served slightly warm with fresh strawberry compote and whipped topping (trying a provide non-dairy) and it was amazeballs! Your efforts are much appreciated, thanks!
I baked this cake today using frozen peaches and served it with vanilla ice cream. It was delicious! Everyone loved it. I m sure I’ll make it many more times! Thank you!
Lovely recipe, delicious and succesful just like all of your recipes are, dear John. As an European, I really appreciate your inclusion of metric measurements, it makes everything so much easier. I expected the peaches to be the star of the cake but I am quite astonished by the tastiness and fluffiness of the cake itself. My only mistake was baking this in a ceramic dish -it took over 50min to bake, and I was too impatient to wait for it to cool down before flipping it, so the cake broke apart 😂 my fault for not using baking paper. Either way, thank you for sharing these foolproof recipes!
Thank you John for taking the extra time to explain how important butter consistency and temperature is, to the outcome of a cake. Some people seem not to care about this step, but I find it really is the difference between a good cake and a GREAT cake.
I agree, thanks. I made a crumble last week with too soft butter. It just kind of melted into the fruit. Gross. Will try this peach cake as an easier alternative to peach pie.
My niece and I made this today. It turned out great! Thank you for the good recipe. We made a slight change: 2 tsps vanilla and 1 of almond extract. Next time I will add a half more cup of peaches. This recipe is a keeper! Thank you so much!
I made this for the first time today, following your instructions to the letter. All I can say is WOW! Fantastic! It's all I can do to resist sitting down and eating the whole cake myself. This may be the first time I've made this, but for sure it won't be the last.
Went peach picking a few days ago and was looking for peach dessert recipes. Well, I found this !!!!! I made one yesterday and another today. DELICIOUS !!!! I did have to bake an additional 15 minutes. This recipe will be in my favorite folder.
I live in the heart of SC peach country. I'm going to make this for Labor Day weekend! You are the best, John! Thanks for making your videos so instructional and making the recipes easier to understand. I like how you explain the "why" of certain things. For instance, the temperature of ingredients (eggs, butter, etc) and why they need to be a certain temp for the recipe to work best. You give the best tips/tricks. Love your videos. You are a joy to watch. God Bless.
Amazing buttery flavor, nice crunchy exterior, fluffy interior and beautiful presentation. Everyone was very impressed and loved it! Thanks for the fantastic recipe
I made this cake today and it is absolutely delicious! Definitely add the sugar on top before baking. It gives a nice crunch and contrast to the tender cake. I cannot say enough about how good it is. Flavorful and moist and yet not too rich. Perfect for summer!
Simple and delicious. Is so Sad that in Brazil is so hard to find peaches where I live. The seasonal fruit here, in Ceará, are mangos. You are amazing John, thanks for the recipes.
I made this cake last night for our family dessert and just ate a bite of it today after lunch. It was delicious last night, and even better today! So good!
John, just made this. Fabulous. Love the crunchy topping. It was still a little too wet for me so I baked an additional 10 minutes. You were not kidding about the batter; so good.
Hi John, this is the most delicious cake, I have made it for all my friends and some family, It's my go to desert. Thanks for this delicious desert recipe.
I just made this today. I thought I'd ruined it because I put it in the oven and then realized that I forgot to add in the flour mixture. OMG! It had only been in the oven two minutes, so I quickly removed it and carefully took out all the peaches from the batter and mixed in the flour. I also cleaned the pan and buttered it again. Then I put the peaches back in the batter and poured it in the pan and added the remaining peaches on top. I cooked it and it turned out fabulous! It would go great with some ice cream on the side. I will definitely be saving this recipe!
Qué receta tan maravillosa..! La preparé y funcionó, quedó con sabor delicioso y una textura super suave..! Gracias por la receta, llenó mi corazón de felicidad.
Oh my mom used to make this cake when I was a kid. I adjusted by adding more sour cream and using sanding sugar instead of granulated. It is so crispy and the flavor is delish with fresh summer peaches. Yum.
Just made this cake and it’s really delicious! I love all your recipes and you explain them perfectly. The only thing I change is the sugar content. I cut it by half . Thank you so much🙏🙏🙏

John, let me say your recipes are gorgeous. Following your suggestions every cakes or sweet preparation always gives me great satisfaction and excellent results. And taste delicious. Bravo! 👏
This is an amazing recipe! Just made this with nectarines, because my organic store was out of peaches. Worked fine, maybe even a little less sweet. I made a little dip of vegan whipped cream combined with organic apricot marmelade. Big succes! I’ll make this again, for sure! Love all your recipes!
Congratulations 🎉👏🎉👏 today is the day your cookbook comes out. I'm so excited for you and cannot wait to get mine! I made this cake this morning. Oh my, I'll make it again.
This is the recipe that brought me out of baking “retirement” and it was so worth it! The family all loved the cake, warm from the oven with ice cream. I’m definitely going to make this again soon. Before peach season ends. Thanks for the video and helpful tips. 🙏👍
Brilliant recipe! Tried it out today, worked beautifully!! Didn’t have enough butter, 40g short but still worked! The cake is super light and airy, and stays up! 😅👍🏼🧡
I just made this this evening but only using plums and demerara sugar on top. Delicious and I couldn't wait so I scooped some vanilla ice cream. Delicious!
My suggestion: On top of the same amounts, ADD ½ A CUP of almond powder Plus 2 table spoons Cognac or Brandy. Peaches just LOVE brandy! And the almond would lift up the volume and texture I ADD 1 teaspoon of baking SODA as well The batter looks too moist, but it sets beautifully 45 to 55 minutes baking. Happy cookin'!! Mm
Those beautiful ripe peaches look amazing. As you were smoothing the batter in the pan, I was thinking "I would just eat a very large spoonful of this." A hybrid cream cheese-whipped cream frosting would be superb between two layers of this.
I made this peach cake this morning, fantastic taste & moist. Kept 11 min more until it was totally ready from the middle too. Had a paper on the top at the extra minutes so it did not get too brown. Sooo good
Made this cake for friends tonight and they loved it! Absolutely delicious. It’s super fluffy and moist. Of note, it took closer to an hour to bake for me.
So delicious! I made it with apricots which turned out amazing with the sour cream... not too sweet and melts in your mouth. Thank you so much for a great recipe❤
Wow! You made it look so simple and irresistible to make🤤, I have to give it a try.. always a pleasure to watch you create these beautiful yummy recipes!!🥰
It’s a gorgeous cake! I like the idea of a single layer cake. I just bought two boxes of peaches! I can’t wait to try this. Thanks for sharing this with us!
@@PreppyKitchen Thank you! I can’t wait to get your cook book! I just made your yellow cake yesterday for my daughter’s birthday. Delicious! I used to bake all the time & just haven’t been able to recently. You are inspiring me!
This cake is soooo good. I've made it once before, and it's my Nany's birthday tmrw, so I'm making it again for her. It's the one cake which the whole family agrees is delicious, other cakes, like chocolate or vanilla, the kids like it but the adult think it's too sweet. This is the perfect balance
Baked this cake twice so far .. must say it’s a family favorite.. tastes so good for summer,, added blueberries as well the second time .. Thank you delicious recipe
Loved your trick for cleaning the beaters off! I use high speed to clean the beaters off, but I've never actually touched the beaters to the bowl while doing so. I will definitely try that next time.
Made this yesterday. It is delicious. We got some beautiful fresh peaches for smoothies but I prefer this cake for breakfast. And an afternoon snack. I enjoy the videos and cooking can be therapeutic. I watch a couple times to set up the ingredients, then stop/start as I follow your steps. It's great fun and the result was terrific. 😘

I made this cake three times, and each time OMG!! they tasted AMAZING!! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe :) Every summer I can't wait to get peaches and make this tasty cake.
You're a great baking teacher, I learned a lot from you, you answer all of my questions every time. And just took this out of the oven and it's, of course, great! Thank you! 💞
I added 3/4 teaspoon almond extract with the vanilla extract, plus added brown sugar + cinnamon sprinkled onto the batter 1/2 way through filling the pan...so good! Has John trained as a chef? If so, where? Love the channel!
Hi John: This recipe looks terrific. I am looking forward to making it. Before I do, can I ask you to please clarify whether you use the peaches with the skin on or peel them first. In the written recipe it says to peel them, but, on the video it appears you made it with the skin on. I want to make it right so will appreciate your help with this. Thanks in advance for taking the time to send a response.
Hi John, I love your recipes so much. I previously made orange cake and it was a piece of heaven. Now I am waiting for the peach cake to cool down until I sprinkle sugar on it. I am very excited to taste it. Your recipes are approved, thank you for your great effort. Rana from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
Thanks so much; I tried the recipe yesterday. There was an abundance of peaches at the grocery. The cake turned out very well. Next time, I'll use the cake strips.
Hello John. I made this cake and it quickly became my very favorite. My husband loves it as well. I really enjoy watching you create these beautiful masterpieces. Thank you for all your wonderful recipes. By the way, I bought your book and it is fantastic!
I am making this today, can't wait! 👩🏼🍳 Hey, with fall getting here fast, I am contemplating making this with apples or pears. Has anyone tried this yet? Love love love your videos John! ❤
I made this today with fresh nectarines. It’s a FABULOUS cake!! SO SO good!!! Thanks for the recipe! And yes - weighing ingredients does make a monumental difference.
This is what I was thinking about trying since I found some nectarines with flavor recently, but I could never find peaches around here with flavor. Glad to know it was just as good!
I am going to have to try this. Growing up my mother would make peach cake, which would be a sweet roll dough with peaches on top of the dough which had been brushed with melted butter, then the peaches would be brushed with butter, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, baked then dusted with powdered sugar. She would have to make six or so pie tins worth ( 8 kids). She was a Baltimore girl and I think that was a regional thing.
I have this in the oven right now. Glad to have found your channel, you're a great teacher/explainer and answer the questions in my head (ie: have no sour cream but I do have Greek yogurt!) before I've finished thinking them! Looking forward to trying a slice, it might just be my dinner :-))
Hello John ☺️ i made this cake today and it came out delicious and beautiful. It was pretty easy and i had most of the ingredients already at home. Love all your recipes and most how easy you make them look.
▢ 1½ cups all-purpose flour (180g)
▢ 1½ teaspoons baking powder
▢ ½ teaspoon salt
▢ ¾ cup unsalted butter softened (170g)
▢ 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
▢ 2 large eggs
▢ ¼ cup sour cream room temperature (60g)
▢ 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
▢ 2 cups ripe peaches peeled, pitted, and sliced or chopped (400g/2 to 3 peaches)
And 350f oven. This info wasn’t in his site 😢 i had to rewatch the video to find out the temperature
Thanks 😘

I added 3/4 teaspoon almond extract with the vanilla extract, plus added brown sugar + cinnamon sprinkled onto the batter 1/2 way through filling the pan...so good! Has John trained as a chef? If so, where? Love the channel!
I'm making this today! My husband loves peaches! Thanks for the recipe!❤❤
I was just wondering what to do with a bunch of peaches I got from the farmers market here in South Carolina... and here you are ! ❤️ Thank you !!
Hi John, I love your recipes so much. I previously made orange cake and it was a piece of heaven. Now I am waiting for the peach cake to cool down until I sprinkle sugar on it. I am very excited to taste it. Your recipes are approved, thank you for your great effort.

Thanks so much; I tried the recipe yesterday. There was an abundance of peaches at the grocery. The cake turned out very well. Next time, I'll use the cake strips.
I made this almost immediately after you put it up on the blog. Loved it!

I am going to the farmer market for peaches NOW! I can't wait to make this beautiful cake. Thank you John.
O my gosh definitely need to impress my husband making it. Looks so good , can’t wait.
What a beautiful cake! Can't wait to try it. Thanks very much, John.
I made this today using fresh, organic peaches…delicious!
Perfect time of year! Yum! I love peaches!
So good!🍑✨🍑✨🍑✨
I am going to have to try this.
I made this delicious cake today. Turned out totally amazing. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Hello John ☺️ i made this cake today and it came out delicious and beautiful. It was pretty easy and i had most of the ingredients already at home. Love all your recipes and most how easy you make them look.
