Lutherville has basically had a Squad equipped with a crane since I was born. That's over 5 decades. Howard County Rescue Squad 5 had a Kenworth that was equipped with a crane as well. Maryland was always home to some monster squads. Gotta love the the Roto Ray's and twin Mars 888's on the suppression pieces.👍🇺🇸

Great To See You Guys Feature A Local Company, Great Work! If you’re ever in the area again another unique company would definitely be Chestnut Ridge Vol Fire Company which houses a Engine,Engine Tanker, Tanker Support Unit,Medic Unit, ATV And More. What Makes This Station Unique Is They Are The Only Volunteer Company That Typically Specializes In Mass Casualty Incidents. S.O.R.T. 50 (Special Operations Response Team) In Baltimore County. They Also Are One Of A Few Stations In The Area Who Utilize Drones For Search & Rescue Operations As Well As EMS Bikes 🚴 For Various Large Scale Events.

A very nice video and an amazing station. Thank you for the awesome tour David Vitberg. In Addition, The Fire Museum of Maryland isn't that far away on York Road.
1000 gallons (3800 liters) would be a dream. Our smallest firetruck has 200 gallons (750 liters) and our biggest firetruck has 500 gallons (2000 liters).😅 There are also bigger ones, but not in our department. Greetings from Germany
Fellow Mass. guy, love to see it! Also .. that B85 Thermodyne is absolutely gorgeous. B series Mack’s are one of the most beautiful trucks ever made (Superliners are a close second.)
Nice keep up the great work! Would love to see more Maryland departments featured here! (Station cribs etc) May I also suggest Independent hose Co #1 in Frederick county. They are the Oldest fire company in Maryland
the county has 30 stations ( was 33 ) that are completely volunteer. The county also has about 20 stations that are paid ( career ) . interestingly enough, a fair amount of career members ( as is seen in this video ) are also volunteers in the county.
This is a beautiful and very thoughtfully planned out fire station. Possibly the nicest station I have seen on your channel! This community is very lucky to have such a great fire station. I was wondering if you have ever thought of coming out west to some place such as Seattle? Seattle fire stations 10, 14, and 5 for examples would be great to tour. Seattle also just became a class 1 fire department last summer. Just a thought or suggestion.
@Heroes Next Door I will do you one and make an inquiry to see if someone I know could possibly make that happen and ask them to reach out to you. Do you have an email they could use to contact you?
Hey mike you know what you should do is add the different fire tones at each station you go to when when they get called out tons call would be interesting seeing the difference across the country
That's an impressive firehouse. I'm interested to know more about the USA fire departments and how they run. Amazing dedication by volunteer crews, but i just don't understand how a house that busy with amazing facilities and obviously funding, doesn't pay its members but the county department does. Also how do they always manage to have a crew on station if its voluntary? Thanks again. A great video.
Poles seem to be dependent on where you are located in the country. Denver swears by them but others say they are to much of a hazard. Indiana also uses poles. Have you checked out those videos yet. Let us know what you think.

As a former German firefighter, I would be interested to know how the decision is made on what vehicles a fire station gets? Is there a risk assessment for this like in Germany? Or is it divided randomly in the district and then pulled together if necessary?
The district I work in, apparatus placement is done by need. Squad company is near the interstate, and a second squad is at headquarters, Tower Ladder is centrally located at headquarters and we have three other engine companies spread out.
Karsten, I live and volunteer 25 minutes west of here. In America it is not as regulated for the fire service like Germany is. The individual volunteer fire company's can decide what best suits their needs. There are jurisdictional and national standards a type of fire truck must meet. The trucks are built with the area and operational needs that have been identified. This fire company has 3 ladder trucks that border them 2 are paid 1 is volunteer. It also depends on funding.
