Last night EST at about 7:30pm here in Sterling,Virginia there was an explosion that unfortunately killed a firefighter and injured about 10 more firefighters. Multiple maydays were called. Would everyone please keep the Loudon County & Sterling Fire Department in their prayers. Also great video.
I was born and raised in Piermont and got my start in the Fire Service at PFD. It’s been many years since I lived there and it makes me proud to see all the progress and accomplishments that have been made. Keep up the great work!!
Such beautiful town and surroundings. I love how you guys documented the true comradery of not only the department, but of the whole community. It's amazing how much everyone contributes their skills, from doing simple maintenance to literally building their own station. Really shows the family aspect. Can't wait to see what you guys have in store next!
This department is definitely there for the people. Between the training and even thinking of the tax payers as well. I live in the country and our local department lifted the mileage restrictions once they went to protection district instead of just being supported by the city. Just got voted on last week. Very excited about it, been some years since been on the fire department.
This video seemed different Mike, but in a really good way. I can’t explain it. Just a very well-run, historic vol. firehouse I guess. Great job! Can’t wait to check out that rescue video.
Thank you for showing the Rescue 🛟 boat Garage 😊 I Love it when Retired Chief SAID he is TRAINING the younger Generation on all his knowledge 😊❤😊 Especially the Maintenance of things like outboard engines 😊❤😊 the other things so, so important to keeping the vessel operational 100%😊 just the fact that the zodiac is in a "HEATED" garage. The Temperature outside looks very COLD. In are State are Cadets ( Explorers) Must be 14 years old to become a Fire Cadet. We switched to a Cadet program from one of the longest and oldest Explorer scouting. Are Cadets work with the MSO on big fires doing REHAB. We have 2 Donationed mid 2000s Ford E-450 Ford retired Aid Rigs, full of Rehab supplies. Just like the cold weather there We put the FF in back of Rehab Rig with Heat on or AC. We have an inverter connection on board for running back compartment without having to run Rig engine from a portable Generator 😊
The way they vote for and move around senior officers in agencies like this I have always found very odd. I come from an agency that promotes based on skill and ability and doesn't focus on personality contests.
Volunteer companies operate differently, my former department was every year. It brings more ideas to the table and is required by the bylaws of the organization.
@@davidzook8569 I understand that some volunteer agencies and most companies do it. I can see where it would help some problems. But I can only see it creating more problems than it fixes.
@spenceryambrich3899 what problems would it create? In a small town almost everyone knows everyone. In department decisions it's always a committee. With fire ground operations the chief is in charge, everyone knows that and everyone respects it. If next year there's another chief that person will be respected as well. The members vote on ALL leadership positions. If you're not a member you have no vote. However, every member does have a vote and honestly most don't necessarily seek the extra responsibility, they accept the position because someone needs to be at the helm. In my experience the votes were nearly unanimous, the person who was best suited or sometimes best able got the job. Don't conflate a volunteer fire position with politicians, it's most definitely very different. If politicians approached their elected positions the same way the US wouldn't be in the state it's in currently.

Piermont fire is doing things right for sure !
Your content is gold. Thank you for taking the time to post these.
How did the DC dialect basically cease to exist in three decades?
My mom established the Blue Phantoms with the Piermont Fire Department and loved that band.
That’s awesome
Enjoy your videos
Thank you that means a lot
Go to Nyack FD next, lots of history throughout the county there since you're right next to that department
West Nyack Fastest response times
We need invites

Glad you enjoyed it! We are trying new things this year to keep things fresh
@@HeroesNextDoor Well you definitely did it with this one. Keep up the great work!
I do find it a little strange how many Chiefs this department seems to go through.
Every two years or so they rotate out. That is common within the volunteer service
Its really not common at all. I was a volunteer for 9 years. Had one chief who had been chief for 20 years before@@heavy7799
We change every two years. That is based on our bylaws. We actually just changed it to allow for a four year term.
This a nice house but if it has several stories they should have a pole on the 2nd floor that's just my opinion

Question Mike. I’m a subscriber of this channel but I’d love to become a member of this channel to see those extra videos. How can I do that?
All you have to do is click the join button on our home page
Seems like the 2nd Asst chief responds to these comments. I’m curious, what would you say your avg age is on the volunteer roster?
Well from when I was there we saw ages 16-30s with some old heads like myself still contributing consistently
Great video & seems like a great family & community. I'd love to visit someday. 20yr volunteer FF/EMT-I from Southeastern Ohio
Please do!

So is Danny a second lieutenant or second assistant chief? You said two different things. Does anybody proof these before they publish?
STFU. Let us know when you’re perfect.
I am 2nd Asst Chief
Please be nice
Danny has been everything
First?
and?
Second 😤
