  • Part 2 of 4- In this installment I cover what you need to do to get your engine ready for boost , and what options you have with each engine.. I also take you through what fuelling upgrades you'll need and things to consider.
I really hope this and part 3 really start to help you shape what direction your project will take and pave the way for some more specific detailed video in the future.
like the video? don't forget to share it with anyone you think could find it useful or that would enjoy finding out more.

Really nice guide. But I have one caveat. 19:10. You really underestimate the one point injection. I have little experience with SPI with turbo (though with Bosch, not Magneti Marelli) in Peugeot 106. At stock fuel pressure (1 bar), the injector was sufficient for about 0.6 bar boost. It was enough to increase the fuel pressure to 3 bar (as in MPI) which gave about 60% extra efficiency. Then the injector was enough for even 1.1 bar boost without any problems. Half a year earlier, I was controlling the engine only by increasing the fuel pressure without ecu tune at 0.5-0.6 bar boost. On the return line I had 3 bar FPR and a pressostat controlled solenoid valve in parallel. In some time, on the example of Peugeot 205, I want to test the FMU 3:1 regulator, which is to do the same as my device with a solenoid valve, but smoothly.
I will also say something about the injector in the CC / SC 899cc.
On the experiences of two other people (my friend from Fiat 126p 650 EFI (injector 899cc) and guys from the "zagrYwus garage" channel with Seicento 899 turbo.) I find that the injector in 899 (1.1 and 1.2 also) is very efficient for such a small engine. My friend had to shorten the injection time very much so that the AFF was not rich. On the other hand, zgrywus garage reached around 120Hp at 1.7 bar boost on stock injector and stock fuel pressure.

Thanks alot for the information👍 really interesting to hear what the standard injector set ups are capable of..definitely something I'll experiment with on any future builds.( especially my 899 budget supercharged engine..as that will be on low boost anyway) .glad you found the video interesting anyway 👍👍

You don't really need or want to lower the compression for low boost if you can tune the ignition precisely, it just robs power. My FIRE 1.2 8v has stock compression with 1.3bar boost. Btw I use EVAP line as fuel return line, works great 😃

I agree if you can tune it precisely you can get away with higher compression, but for the purpose of the video and for safer running on "budget" set ups, I wanted to cover the lower comp options...the truth is if I covered every scenario the video would be 3 days long haha 😄

What would happen if I got a 1.1 and put a turbo on it nothing else

If you mean with no other mods, then something like a micra or other small cars with an ecu that is "clever enough" it'd be ok, on a cinq or a sei it's a no go..the stock ecu just can't cope with the increased boost..ot won't supply enough fuel, if it see's postive boost it'll cut fuel etc etc.
If you just mean the engine itself, so no decompression plate or pistons, then again you miiiight just about get away with very very low boost but you'd have to be sure your fuelling control was 100%. Not lowering the compression just means you have such a small window of margin to work with.
