    There’s videos showing how to use the normal stock barrel and just add salt and reload stickers or go cheaper and use water soluble glue and rice paper

      Thanks DN Joe. I bet there are a lot of faster and easier loads now. 😁. When I made these we were all just brainstorming as it was brand new. Personally I reloaded out of curiosity and boredom during Covid. I usually just buy the cartridges from bug-a-salt. 😁🙏🏽. Now that ammunition is now available I have just been reloading 9mm. Thank you for watching and commenting. Much appreciated. 👍

    So I have found that if you use you Vigilante in double action it cycles the bu a salt cartridge but if I work it in single action mode it doesn't sync them up as well.

    Here's a question: I just got a Crosman Triple Threat (which looks to me to be a Vigilante but with three interchangeable barrels).
    First, what do you think? Same gun?
    Second, the shortest barrel is approximately 3 inches and is smooth bore. How would that be in terms of shooting. I'm thinking easier cleanup at least with no rifling to contend with.
    Also, wouldn't it be great if the BugASalt guys made a kit that was just a replacement barrel instead of the whole Shred-er thing? Kind of a 'save money with a DIY' idea?

    • @justanotheravgjoe1314
      @justanotheravgjoe1314  2 роки тому

      First, yes it is absolutely the same gun. I did a side by side here and swapped out the parts. ua-cam.com/video/x3VUmqMZ2t4/v-deo.html
      Second, I any of the barrels would work fine. At the ranges we generally shoot the flies, I don't think it will make that much difference. You'll probably get a better spread with the 3". So that may be the way to go. I would say whichever barrel you will not or use least for pellets, use that for salt. as there is some rusting with the salt in the steel barrel.
      It would be cool if bug-a-salt started selling Shred-Er uppers for use with the vigilante, but I don't think it will happen. If you want the shred-er you are going to buy it.
      Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍🏽😁

      @@justanotheravgjoe1314 Yeah. I can see how selling an upper receiver kit could hurt Bug-a-salt economically. Still, given the probable profit margin and the cost folks would probably pay, it might be a good decision for them, at least at some point. Still, given that the Shred-er appears to be more of an experimental notion and less of a ... I guess new product line, they may just want to sell what they can, rather than getting into parts kits and hobbyist marketing. Honestly, if I had the know-how, that's what I'd do, because there's a lot of air-gun modification out there, and people pay for the parts they need in order to do it. Either way, it's awesome that the community at large noted the similarities and compatibility and that you confirmed it for us all. Thanks for everything you do.

    I had this issue with my first magazine. It happened when I would cock the hammer, but then drop the hammer after not shooting. Usually when the fly got away before I could line up the shot. Just someone to keep in mind when using this.

    • @justanotheravgjoe1314
      @justanotheravgjoe1314  Рік тому

      Is it a new Pistol? If new it may just be a production defect and I would call either bug-a-salt or crosman depending on if you have the shred-er or vigilante. I have had one other person mention an issue with their shred-er and Bug-a-salt replaced the defective gun. I don't recall what it was though, it may have also been the CO2 issue.

    My vigilante will not cycle the bug a salt magazines, even when synced correctly… there is to much slop, or play where the cartridges sit…

    This should be obvious and literally a 30 second video at most. Figured out in my vigilante before even trying it. When holding the gun like you would shoot with barrel latched just spin the ammo cartridge clockwise a little until it stops its lined up!

    Why do you want to shoot salt?

    • @justanotheravgjoe1314
      @justanotheravgjoe1314  2 роки тому +2

      It is really due to fact Bug-A-Salt sells their Shred-Er CO2 bug/salt gun for ~$125. It is on the Vigilante platform. This is just showing an alternative using the vigilante with salt loads to use as a bug gun since the vigilante can be purchased for a lower price and can also shoot pellets. or you can check out this video for another reason to shoot salt through your vigilante 😁

    Is the vigilante made for BBs and just works with the bug assault?

    • @justanotheravgjoe1314
      @justanotheravgjoe1314  3 роки тому +2

      The Vigilante is a combo bb and pellet platform. The Bug-a-salt Shred-er is built on the Crosman Vigilante frame. The Shred-er cartridges are equivalent to the Pellet clips and can be used, the only difference is the vigilante doesn't come with the alignment arrow that is on the Shred-er and some commenters have noted issues with syncing, so I made this video.
      You can see the similarities between the two here.

      @justanotheravgjoe1314  3 роки тому

      Thanks Stachel Chardge. No worries. I actually didn't know much about these before the videos either. Luckily viewers/commenters provided a lot of information regarding them. So I am happy to pass it along. While the frame does feel as though it is metal, Magnets only seem to stick to a couple of parts so I assume not iron/steel for the most part. It does seem pretty solid though. One commenter on my original video ua-cam.com/video/YxjhaGIviSI/v-deo.html had explained what it was made of, I believe he said it was similar to how they make Hot Wheels cars. I can't find the comment at the moment.
      The Barrel itself is a steel insert in the upper assembly, that I know because I see a little rusting in it after shooting a lot of salt 😁.
      I hope that helps, I have been looking all over trying to find a more definitive answer but have yet to come across one that specifically states how and what these are made of.

      @@tachelchardge9249 Still looking and trying to find more info, here is the article I have found, stating the Frame is metal. www.airgundepot.com/vault/articles/head-to-head-crosman-vigilante-vs-umarex-colt-python-polymer/
      And under the product description it does have a steel barrel. The barrel is an insert/straw in the upper, so My best guess is that the upper is a resin/polymer as it has a nice finish, but doesn't feel like metal.
      But I haven't found anything online that mentions the rest of the pistol.
      Maybe if I have some free time during Crosman business hours I will try and give a call. If so I will update my answer. 👍🏽

      @@tachelchardge9249 Ooh, that is a tough one, I think the vigilant is a pretty good value, in that you can shoot the shred-er salt cartridges, but it can also be used as a bb/pellet gun. I have a ton of fun with mine, but maybe also check out the salt swat. ua-cam.com/video/qmJURcas4RM/v-deo.html
      It is also pretty nice and does double duty as a .22 pellet gun.

    How much corn starch do you use what’s the mixture

    • @justanotheravgjoe1314
      @justanotheravgjoe1314  3 роки тому +2

      Great question. I am still playing around with the mix. Too much cornstarch and the dried salt bullets seem to slide out when shooting and jamming the cylinder rotation. I have been having good results with 3:1 and 4:1salt to cornstarch. so far I haven't tried less cornstarch other than pure salt. I have also been trying to reduce the amount of salt residue I leave in the yard. I should try a comparison of the different ratios and see if there is a significant difference in reliability and function or not.
      Thanks for asking, If I end up making this a video I'll let you know so you can claim your JAAJOE mug. 👍🏽

      it absolutely is. I usually film in my yard, but a Jackhammer was going on down the block and if you thought my wind chimes were bad. 😂. My other option was my desk with a bare white wall. So I thought I’d give it a try. Last couple weeks the construction in the neighborhood has been crazy. If I don’t film by ~0730 it gets crazy power tool/air compressor loud, at least for the camera mic.
