    Excellent. The heavier loads may cause damage to the garden and other plants over just the table salt. However that kosher an sea salt would be a happy medium. I think that corn cob would be great for big tough bugs. Maybe you can test each load through a progressively thicker target. Start with the foil, move on to thicknesses of paper and so on. Show the real stopping power.

      Great point!, Maybe I will try a video like you said, just using a couple of media, so as not to make it excessively long. I agree, after doing the test, I am thinking of just having a few cartridges pre-loaded with various loads for different jobs. I took out a horsefly today with the Sea Salt, I'll have to check and see if my daughter caught it on video. It was pretty impressive. Thank you for the feedback and comment.

    i have never seen anyone use the term write-o before but all those shots look to be working well

      😁, Yeah, I kind of made that up, I was writing Typo but then thought about the fact that I hadn't typed it. I had to put something though, if I didn't the comments would all be about how I misspelled salt. 🧐
      I thought everything worked well, the garlic powder was unimpressive, would work great on a regular fly but wasn't that hard hitting, I wasn't really expecting it to be though, I was just next to the salt at the dollar store . Thanks for watching.

    Thanks again for another well done video. After watching reload v4, I was thinking about different types of loads too and there your video was! Curious if you ground the corncob yourself, or if you purchased it like that, and if so, which brand/type did you get? Thanks

    Appreciate your research. It made me buy the vigilante and shredder. Thankyou so much. Looks like any breakdown barrel can be made a salt gun. Thanks again

    Very interesting. Never considered alternat loads. Thanks for the great Idea. Imm do some outside. Pest eradication now. Only salt in the house. But outside? Sky is the limit. Good Job bro!

      Thanks. I never use the shred-Er inside, and as I have been shooting salt for a while out in the yard I have been growing a little concerned with build up in the garden. Out on the pavers I don't care, but was just trying to think of something else to use among the plants. 👍🏽

    Good video, I was thinking that boric acid crystals would also work well, since they recommend putting out for roaches and ants to wade thru. It slices their shell causing them to bleed to death, that way you could assured of a kill, if you hit them at all.

    • @justanotheravgjoe1314

    Im going to try glass microbeads that are used in nail art at the salon. Will try in the crossman vigilante, and use a hole punch to make a felt wad to hold the beads in for loading in the cylinder. I got the idea from shooting a blackpowder shotgun with my husband, and I think the beads might be a pretty good alternative to salt.

    I bet bird seed would work pretty good and not hurt the yard

    • @justanotheravgjoe1314
      @justanotheravgjoe1314  3 роки тому +1

      That is a good thought, I almost used sesame seeds in this video, but I was concerned about rats. My neighbors have ivy and I am constantly battling the rats, I usually bait my traps with birdseed and it works great, so I am a little hesitant to spray it around the yard 🤔. I may still try as I think it would still give impressive hits. Thank you, I may have to reconsider this one. 👍🏽

    I drilled out that divider on mine. Could just be me, but I noticed an increase of power without the restriction in place. Puts a pretty solid dent in a soda can.

    • @justanotheravgjoe1314
      @justanotheravgjoe1314  3 роки тому +2

      That is good to know, thanks for sharing. I may do a before and after with the divider see the difference. I had been hesitant to try in past as I wanted to have a stock Shred-Er for testing against other platforms, but I have already done the Salt swat and bug a salt. Maybe it is time 👍🏽. When I cleaned my saltwater fish tanks I once poured the dirty saltwater on the lawn . It killed the section of lawn I dumped it on. Live and learn…

    • @justanotheravgjoe1314
      @justanotheravgjoe1314  3 роки тому +1

      That has been my concern in the Garden areas, I don't know how much salt causes an issue, pavers and pool area I don't really care as I live on a slope and that salt all washes out of the yard.
      Did the lawn recover? I also wonder how long it takes to flush salt from the soil.

    • @ReefMimic
      @ReefMimic 3 роки тому

      @@justanotheravgjoe1314 if your shooting the lawn with a fly on it once in awhile I’m pretty sure that it won’t be an issue. If your constantly shooting/dropping salt in the same spot day in and day out , you would have an issue.
      If you get the hose and diluted the salt area with fresh water , I’m almost sure you won’t have an issue.
      To repair lawn I get my weed wacker out and remove all the dead lawn out down to the dirt. I score the earth with the wacker so when I seed the seed takes root better. After I seed I top off with peat moss. Peat moss is cheap. You can get a huge bag of it at Home Depot/Lowe’s . It also keeps the birds from eating the seed. Grass seed I recommend from a sod seller locally or tractor supply. Seed from Home Depot or Lowe’s doesn’t have a great success rate. After I seed and moss I water every day for 2 weeks straight to keep the moss wet. If the moss drys up it can get hard. You can also use mulch like cow compost from Lowe’s or home depot. My neighbor loves the smell and tells me so. So I always throw in some cow compost:)
      Chicken compost is too hot I find.
      Or you can buy a bag of Scott’s lawn repair that has everything you need inside the bag. But it’s expensive.
      My female dog urine kills the grass so I’m a pro now at repair

    Another awesome video! Thanks, I was wondering, which you prefer being the best all round gun? Shredder or Vigilante ??

    • @justanotheravgjoe1314
      @justanotheravgjoe1314  2 роки тому +1

      I guess if I was getting just one, I would probably get the vigilante. Keep in mind though that all of that salt does take a toll on the steel barrel, I am having rust development, and honestly I don't take the time to clean pellet guns like I would with my firearms. Ideally would be to have a vigilante with a shredder upper that you could swap out or vice versa, as the lower is the same, then you could enjoy both the bb/pellet world and salt world without corrosion. I hope that helps.
      Thanks for watching.

    Great video! I wonder if cutting out the splitter would make the gun less reliable when using regular salt?

    • @justanotheravgjoe1314
      @justanotheravgjoe1314  3 роки тому

      That is a good question, I have had a couple of commenters, state that they saw an improvement when they removed it. I don't know if it would make it less reliable with the regular salt loads though. If you are in a humid environment, maybe it will be more clumped/less spread?
      I have left it as I have the vigilante barrel and can test Shred-Er as it comes from factory. I don't know if it is just there as a safety measure (shooting pellets through it) or if it also has a purpose like breaking up clumped salt. 🤷‍♂️. I noticed when I tried the Sea Salt through the vigilante I did not notice much difference in the impact. (although my vigilante barrel is much shorter, which could account for lower velocity upon exiting the barrel.) 🤔
      Thanks for watching and your comment.

      @@justanotheravgjoe1314 yeah I have watched most of your videos.. I always fail to understand why people want the most powerfull bug a salt gun.. like.. it’s flies and wasps.. power.. ok.. but they want to use rock salt and anything as big as they can get.. like…again.. it needs to be concentrated enough to hit a fly.. if 3 pellets come out.. not much chance it will hit the fly.. density is so important.. and a lot of people jsut ignore that.. like that that point use a bbgun.. idk.. jsut what I noticed.. the shredr is going to be more than enough to even imagine using on even a spider.. yet people want it more powerfull.. which…cool.. but now u will start damaging things ur shooting on.. idk a thought I have been brewing lol

      @@AverageReviewsYT 😂the standard shredder is pretty powerful. In fact the only alternatives I generally focus on for my own use are garden friendly varieties as I don’t really want to salt the earth in my yard. I was playing with a kosher/ mild rock salt load and shot a mosquito off of my foot. I do this all the time with the bug a salts v 1-3. Let’s just say I was shocked at how much blood that mosquito 🦟 had eaten until I realized that was my foot bleeding. 😁. Don’t recommend it. Regular load is plenty. And you are absolutely correct about the spread. Thanks for the comment.
