  • The Autocrat by Benchmade is a hybrid constructed out-the-front auto built on an aluminum sub-frame with G10 scales, a departure from traditional all aluminum handled OTF's.
Smooth actuation and positive lock-up characterize this somewhat pricey offering.
Entirely USA made! Check it out!
Don't forget to check your local laws with regards to buying or carrying automatic knives.

I traded for a NIB Autocrat a couple years ago. I used it as an actual DE auto every day carry, For combined 6 months, over year and half. It's a comfortable reliable OTF that actually WORKS better then some Microtechs I've used in dirty conditions!!
Microtech knives have tighter tolerances and better overall build. But I believe that hurts reliable in real world use where dirt , Lint, And other materials get into blade track/housing. My son's a lineman and uses his Combat Troodon on the wire daily. It's gummed up a couple times now (where spaying REM oil/compressed air wouldn't help) with full disassembly need to completely clean for perfect function. I've had similar problems with UTX 85 used in the desert.
My Autocrat has been fired thousands of times and cut all kinds of material. At MAP of $399.00-$425 the Benchmade is priced inline with similar sized Microtechs, Some more expensive. It also hides wear extremely well.
Thanks for video and sharing your thoughts

Love mine. Sure is a fantastic piece. Only a .45 Colt 1911 can compare to the satisfaction one feels when operating it…it has a solid-billet feel to it that you can’t help but love at first touch. Quality, quality, quality.

Can you make a video on lubricating the action of the knife w/o disassembling it?

I usually disassemble them when it gets to that point, but I'm sure there are vids out there on generally how to do it for any out the front knife

I bought one of these the day they were released. Then I discovered I don't really care for OTF's. Mine is in pristine condition setting in the box, I never carried it. Probably end up in one of the families pockets after I pass.

I like it much better than the infidel

I love OTF knives. I really lucked out at a knife show and picked up a Infidel. The previous Infidels I had messed with seemed a bit sluggish on deployment. The one I got is fantastic. 👍

As an Infidel owner the 'off track' can easily happen anything impedes the travel of the blade when fired. The fix as mentioned is to manually pull the blade all the way out, then retract. Amazing how many people still think you can stab simply by putting the end of the knife against something and then firing it. How much play does the blade have?
Auto's- whether folding autos or OTF, exploit the niche they exist in and are mostly overpriced.

The play on my copy of the Autocrat is roughly similar to a Microtech Troodon, I'd say. A little play, normal for most OTF's.

Microtech combat troodon built way better better steel. I've had 2 for year never failed to deploy not even once. Or my ultatechs or any of them

I have enough of each brand to know that they're both good and reliable. Never had issues with MT or BM. There are comments here from Autocrat owners using them everyday under hard use for years and performing extremely well. As for steel, you'll really need to take a look on Knife Steel Nerds or Knife Steel Compositions to determine if M390 is "better" than S30V, as Michael Janich from Spyderco indicates that it is very flexible in how it can be ground and heat treated. It's pretty much the "chameleon" of knife steels. Again, I like both brands and have dozens of each but really can't find any valid reasons to call one better than another, just maybe better for different purposes. Thanks for your comments and enjoy your blades! 🗡️👊🗡️
