- Benchmade Autocrat Review
On today’s video I review a very interesting offering from Benchmade knife company. The autocrat is a beautiful OTF with a interesting and ergonomic design and style all its own.
If you would like to request a review or you have any questions, comments, concerns or just want someone to talk Knives with please don’t hesitate to contact me on social media.

Awesome piece, especially with the deep carry clip.
Thanks for the upload.
Be safe.
Thank you brother
Cool knife as thanks for the review....Good stuff....
Thank you brother
Great video definitely a knife i wouldn't mind having
Thank you brother, I appreciate the feedback.
Looks good, works good, what's not to like? Good video dude!
Much appreciated brother.
For $425 another problem I have is with the Autocrat the thin blade. And the handle is so thick compared to that thin blade. I'd be afraid to snap the dang thing, even without prying.
I'm not for clones, but since I have owned about 15 & currently own 5 genuine Benchmades, I went ahead & bought a 9CR18MOV clone for $40. At that price I'll gladly take the downgrade in steel quality. The rest of the build quality is spot on, including one of the most important parts of any OTF: the locks. The locks on the clone are thick & sturdy. For 10% of the price & only maybe 60% of the steel quality & 90-100% of the build quality, I'm happy with it.
Good video, thanks! 😃
Much appreciated brother.
Do they have any different color options?
@@RedwolfEDC Yes, I got coyote beige/stonewashed but there are also black, green, & black/black. I cannot believe you had multiple misfires.
I love Benchmade so much, so it really does pain me to criticize them. But man, the Autocrat in general seems to be a misfire in my book. I watched another UA-camr who had the dang thing happen during his review. Both clones I've owned have never misfired (sold the first one).
I'm examining the clone under a jeweller's loupe & I'm blown away at the fit & finish. I actually do really enjoy the feel of the G10, though overall I do tend to prefer aluminum like on my Microtech.
Again, I don't want to encourage the purchase of clones, but in some cases it's just not realistic to expect people to shell out over $400 to try a knife. Most people won't ever pay more than $20-$30 for a knife in their their life.
Can't wait tonget this in hand. Looks great but I agree about the price. Damn that is steep.
Agreed and if you buy direct from Benchmade it costs even more.
Knife review was ok. The message at the end, awesome. Thank you!
I never claimed to be great, I'm just an honest idiot doing his best to help the community. Thank you for your feedback though 😊
Lifetime warranty, you pay $12 bucks shipping and get a brand new $500 knife.
That alone is worth the extra price, you pay for what you get. Microtechs are known for misfiring...
Interesting to see the g10 scales. It's a nice looking design and seems well done but that price is ridiculous. At that price I would definitely by something or several somethings instead. Great review 👍
What compares and is even better then the autocrat For the same price ???
I agree with you about BM shooting for the stars bro! They definitely aim high for that butterfly tax. Nice line up though! ✌🏽out brotha and catch you on the flip!
Man I will never understand where Benchmade gets their prices from, like 90% of the models they make are overpriced to say the least. They make good knives to be sure, but good isn’t good enough at that price tag.
@@RedwolfEDC fuck bro I agree! I’m not trying to discredit them but dam. They came out with that 25 anniversary gold class Osborn and it was there way of saying thank you to all their loyal customers by charging a grand plus for it! Some thank you!!
The one with the carbon fiber bolster? That thing is so damn ugly.
@@RedwolfEDC 😂 yea
Would like to See it with a single edge blade
I had to sell my high end Microtechs
because I can't deploy them due to arthritis in my hand. Is the benchmade easier to operate?
So it definitely still requires a decent amount of force to operate, it is much smoother overall and the force required to actuate is less but I cannot guarantee that it will be enough to make a difference for you.
What you think of the New SOG Pentagon Otf??
I haven’t tried it yet, but while SOG has definitely gotten better, I just don’t see them being able to produce something worth almost 400 MSRP.
And I like the silent music background!
I love music
@@RedwolfEDC me too! Life without music isn't a life! I know that we understand each other! Lion
GP Knives has them currently for $336
Why do people call it a safety mechanism? Never understood that, it isn’t a safety mechanism there are tons of otfs with this same exact mechanism that will go an inch into your leg , just depends on the strength of the spring
The difference between an inch and 4 inches is I want the others 3 inches to stay out of my leg. 😂
So it’s definitely a safety mechanism though it’s one that could undoubtedly use a bit of refinement.
Also I had the protech dark angel go off in my pocket and it didn’t go an inch into my leg, it went maybe a quarter, though it still hurt, I still cussed a bunch and then stupidly proceeded to punch a concrete wall. The stab wound took some super glue and several weeks to heal, my hand was in a cast for several months though. 😂
@@RedwolfEDC damn bro, I wish I would have grabbed a dark angel they are beautiful
I have one I would sell you, like all of my stuff it’s a user though.
Thanks for the awesome Video dude, I liked and subscribed. Very tempting to purchase the benchmade aero-crat , I want the one that Jessica Chastain uses in the movie AVa “ - I was wondering if you knew which one she uses in the movie ? And I wanted to ask what Velcro ankle holster is good for the benchmade aero crat. Thank you 🙏🇺🇸🦾
Just bought one in od green paid 427.00
Mee too.And lm happi
I will trade my combat troodon for that if your willing it is black handle with satin m390 blade and partially serrated on both sides of blade it is dagger style
This is part of a pass around group that I’m in brother, it’s not mine to sell.
@@RedwolfEDC damn alright 👍
@@RedwolfEDC any suggestions on how or where I would be able to sell my combat troodon? Also if you want it I would give to you at good price I could dm pics basically brand new
@@trevorwise6674 Are you on FB? There are quite a few B/S/T groups, that is where I do the vast majority of business. Also Reddit.
Just saved me $420..
Glad to hear it brother.
Hey bra hope you are doing well! Yeah this shit notification thing makes me really angry the last month and more! But I search the for me important brothers. Thank you. I wish one day I can afford one Microtech! At least one! 😊 Greetings from Austria. Ly!
I love me some microtech, I’m definitely not a fan of all of the stuff they make but they definitely have some winners.
@@RedwolfEDC my favorites are the Socom Elite, the Stich and the Ludt! And maybe a Combat Troodon as a cherry on top.
I paid $561 and they delivered it to the wrong person
Damn thats rough man
For that price. I'd get a Microtech or a save up just a bit more. For a Heretic
I do love me some heretic, the manticore X is a beautiful knife.
Pretty sure heretic is the cheaper of the 2 brands
@@ilikeknafs9563 Depends which model you are interested in and if it’s currently available, the secondary market for heretics can be brutal.
Benchmade is in the middle of leftistville. They last them high taxes right on to the customer.
