    Finally the Havorn is popping up. I'm almost certainly buying one, but I haven't found any reviews or anyone talking about it since Blade Show, so I've been watching for them just in case it had some kind of major flaw like a horrible stop pin location or something. Definitely one of the most beautiful designs I've seen in a couple years. Like an affordable Shiro with even more fidget factor.
    Oh wonderful, it even has garaged stops, not pins! 👍

    Hey DCA, can you please show us the folding knives and maybe even the fixed blades you guys have with a convex grind? I know there are a couple Fallkniven folders that are convex according to their website but you guys list it as flat. I love a convex grind and all the benefits it offers over the other grinds. I’ve already got a Svord Peasant knife from you guys which has an excellent convex grind and it came razor sharp and has held up great so far but I’d love to have a locking folder with a factory convex. Maybe show your usual price ranges of options please. I put secondary convex edges on my knives with a Ken Onion Work Sharp with their blade grinding attachment which makes putting an even and consistent convex edge on compared to using stones.

    Here's a KniFAQ question and one for my fellow knife lovers. I have around 200 knives after many years of collecting. That means I have around 200 empty knife boxes taking up space. The question: to throw away knife boxes, or save them? Only a handful of my knives were over $100, so I'm likely to save those boxes in case I ever want to sell or trade, but what about the rest of the sub-100 "budget" knife boxes? For example, I love Boker Kalashnikovs, and have 15 of them. They came in really cool boxes shaped like AK magazines. The boxes are cool, but I don't "need" them, as I'm unlikely to ever get rid the knives. Save or toss?

    • @wattsmichaele

    • @ProfessionalNoodler
      @ProfessionalNoodler 26 днів тому +1

      You have over 200 which suggests that you aren’t super interested in resale/trading up; If that’s the case just toss the cases if they are just simple cardboard. No reason to hoard paper. 👍

    • @Meckell
      @Meckell 25 днів тому +1

      do a first pass filter. pick up every box individually, and if you can toss it instantaneously without hesitation or second thought, then do so. but if you do hesitate, or have to stop and think about it, then put it back.
      once you have completed this first pass, if it has made subjectively-appreciable progress, then and only then do you start thinking about how to filter further.

    I could be wrong, but it looks like the Kansept Havorn broke lock with out DCA pushing the liner lock at 14:17? He clearly pushes it at 14:15 to close the blade and then immediately checks the action again while commenting "Interesting the lock pin is internal as well." But the second time he goes to close it, it doesn't look like he pushed the liner lock out of the way. Am I missing something?

    • @Nickname-ke1nz
      @Nickname-ke1nz 25 днів тому +1

      @@chopperh4090 I have the olivewood nessmuk tango and I love it. The olive wood has some texture added to it, and there's plenty of contouring for my hand to hold on to. I did add a small lanyard because Ive almost dropped it pulling out of the sheath. I prefer the knife being small so its easily concealed in the pocket as much as possible. I may get a reverse tanto in the future. The leather sheath wore in pretty quick so I can pull out the knife easy without the sheath coming with it.
      Small nitpick, Ive realized that the blade behind the edge is actually not as thin as I wouldve liked, however it comes super sharp as Ive cut into the leather sheath a little when not being careful. Not a huge deal.

    I want to know can the heat treatment of steel be ruined by the passage of time?

    • @chrisjosekuehl
      @chrisjosekuehl 26 днів тому +2

      No, the only thing that can affect the heat treat is extreme high heat. The micro structure of the steel will never change unless we are taking eons of time where the metal actually breaks down if that’s even a thing.

    • @realbroggo
      @realbroggo 24 дні тому

      No. As @chrisjosekuehl states only excessive heat will impact the heat treatment. One of the most common ways for someone to interfere with the heat treat is to use either a grinder or sander to sharpen or re-profile a blade & allowing the steel to get too hot (won't affect whole knife - just the excessive heated areas). Corrosion, however, if a far greater problem related to passage of time. Take care.

      Plus the fact that left handed options just sit on the shelf because nobody buys em. Most lefty’s just adapted to right handed knives.

    Why are we doing mall ninja crap again. I thought we collectively learned that "cool" looking knives don't necessarily work well. I loved my childhood but I don't want to relive the early 2000s.

    I really wish some of these knife manufactures would realize that there are many of us that just refuse to buy a knife made in China, no matter how good it may be. I would pay more for it to be made somewhere else, but I will never own a reate or any of the others. I'll stick with my Italian and US made knives and continue to wonder what some of these folks are thinking.

      Trust me, every knife company knows that folks like you are out there. What are you suggesting, exactly? Should all knife companies stop making any knives in China just because some folks don’t want them? Should every China-made knife have a USA-made version? Good luck with that.

      I'm old enough to recall when good knives only came from a few places, and China was never one of them.
      I have a friend who swears by Taiwanese knives, but I suspect those are also made in China, which probably forces real knife makers out of the market over that way.
      It's a topsy turvy world. There's little doubt about that.

      They know people who prefer us made knives exist. They’ll just charge a lot more for them. There a lot more people out there who don’t care and would rather get a better price on what they buy. That’s commerce.
