I am quite impressed with the processing power of this machine and being able to run several demanding applications simultaneously. I am running right now Adobe Design and Web Premium CS6 (Currently running Photoshop) and Pinnacle Studios 21 Ultimate Version 21
whiteingo very very happy with it. It allows me to do pretty much anything I want to do from video editing and rendering to Photoshop etc simultaneously. I highly recommend this product for it's performance and mobility.
This is a much better product than any of Microsoft's Surface offerings in terms of build quality, service and connectivity. But I fear it will be let down by Windows 10 and its problems with switching between laptop/tablet/desktop mode as well as several other Windows 10 issues that still haunt the Surface lineup.

I can’t decide between the X1 Carbon (6.Gen) Yoga (3rd Gen) and Tablet (3rd Gen). All of them are more or less in the same price range, all of them have their own unique advantage (and disadvantages). At the moment I’m using/testing a T480s.
I am about to purchase this machine and model in a few days. I was considering the Microsoft surface pro at first but now after having watched several reviews I'm convinced I made the right choice and no way can you go wrong with Lenova, a fantastic brand that does quality products.
Thanks for reviewing this, I was very curious about this model and details are scant. Do you know how the screen holds up against the X1 Carbon Gen 6? Everyone loves the 6's screen but I actually find the viewing angle a little disappointing. It has quite a lot of brightness falloff and it gives me eyestrain after a while. Usually manufactuers will place a greater emphasis on tablets' viewing angles because they tend to be used in a lot of different positions.
I'm interested to explore the response of this machine while working on heavy programming jobs that heat increases even ventilation in laptop exhausting great amount of heat. Further, are you happy with glass reflective screen? I do with antiglare mate one
Are you using any special settings to get exactly the 9.5 hr advertised battery life? Usually it is never the case that one gets the same battery life as advertised...
I have a question I want to see if its just my unit, a software problem etc in the typing settings I have type cover sound set to on however, when I type I hear no sound. I'm not sure if its app specific. my volume and speakers work could you do a quick test on this just to see if we have the something in common. also I have auto correct and auto cap but that seems to not work maybe in mc office it does but I mainly want to test the typing sound issue.
Lukas Iffländer thank you. Love my cat inherited from my brother who was killed 3 years ago. As for the kickstand I've been on the couch and I've been in bed using it when I'm in bed I mean I have to put it like rested on my knees my legs it does work like I've been doing Photoshop and video editing using it in bed on the couch I can have it sit on my legs as well it's not the most comfortable but it worked perfectly fine and I don't have a problem again
Hi, I actually just got home and I made a video for you to show you how it works sitting on couch using coffee table, sitting back and using your knees and laying down with it on your lap. I will upload it later. Have to run out again. Thanks
Please see some of your questions answered in this review. I.E. is it comfortable while lying or sitting on the Couch? ua-cam.com/video/kvlwS3frUMk/v-deo.html
Actually, surprisingly no, I am actually doing just that now but in a tempur pedic bed that is electronically controlled to move the head end up and down. The pen is excellent as well and is a Wacom based pen.
hi. can you do a cinebench r15 test a few times on battery and on AC power? I'd like to see the maximum throttling on overheat and load. you can see it on my videos with acer switch 7, but you can speed up, if you want. the acer was not the best choise, so i will bring it back. thanks.
Great vid! Thanks for the video and all the explanation you've made, the first detailed review of the X1T 3rd gen I've seen on UA-cam so far. It has really reassured me. I've ordered the same X1T with the same price of yours through the perk channel, and it's already on delivery. Should arrive soon. Looking forward to it! Again, thank you for the review! And I have a question that, perhaps, you can kindly give me a reference when you are convenient. What's that white spot on the camera? Does the type of X1T 3rd gen you bought has IR camera or NFC? Thank you!
You can search "Lenovo perks" and find the official perk channel purchasing site, and you need to search for a perk entering code to enter the site. I'm not sure if there is still X1 Tablet at such a low price, because the low price ones were out of stocks very soon after the release. You can still try.
Fritz Hopper on Lenovo site. I don't think I or anyone will find again for the price I paid. I went back to see if I could get same price and price was alot more.
Yep, I've had this problem and had a really hard time with the screen coating around the top half of the screen, a whole bunch of scratches and scuffs. Noticeable scratches and dents on it. Very disappointed with the screen glass quilty
Questions: 1) Does this have HDR? 2) What is the sRGB support as well as Adobe RGB, and NTSC? What are these numbers? 3) Is the pen rechargeable or does it take batteries?
1. Enhanced user interaction with new vibrant 13-inch HDR Ready 3K display and Lenovo Pen Pro (10 point, Gorilla Glass) 2. Still looking for details on your 2nd question... 3. The pen takes 1 battery
dear, i'd like ask: 1. is there any noticeable difference between i5 8250U and i7 8550U in x1 tablet 3rd Gen because every one saying that due to the temperature and other settings locked by the manufacturer, the performance of i7 8550U will not noticeably better than i5 8250U? 2. whey you can buy DDR3 2133 while it shows only DDR3 1866 on my purchasing choice page?
I am not a big fan in general of digitizer pens. I had one on the original thinkpad tablet running android. I can't really compare it to the surface as I haven't really work with it yet. If I do ill let you know. Thanks
What is your personal opinion, is there any better business Windows tablet in the market?! I am thinking to buy it and use it as my primary computer (at home I plan to use a big screen) - what do you think?! Would be OK?!
Hi, I got mine yesterday. I know it has the slot but chances are it does not connect to anything unless you customize it and pay extra for it. I hope it is as you say but most probably it isnt. Thank you for review.
Christopher Brennan Wow! That's much less than what they state (9.5hrs). Would be interested in knowing the difference when power saving/setting is fine-tuned. Thanks again for the info!
I believe the size is just right! I walk around with it in my workplace in tablet mode and as well as in bed. Furthermore using it in laptop mode its perfect size too. I guess it depends on what you are using it for as well. I am quite surprised with the performance of the device.
Really? I really hope so. I got 4 hours in first charge. I set the power a bit better now and will see. Estimated prediction on taskbar says around 5 hours in total. Maybe you could give some tips about settings and use.
thanks for prompt reply CB. if this X1 Tablet 3rd Gen has sim/lte slot, hope you can make a simple short video showing that slot & demo how to use that. tq in adv.
It makes things a little tricky but honestly if i know i will need more i always have my Thinkpad P51 which is an "Animal" of a machine. I am transitioning more and more over to my X1 Tablet 3rd Gen. I did get a nice Lacie 5 TB Thunderbolt USB-C hard drive which works nice. Thanks for the question!
I apologize, I do not know the answer to that. If you can tell me where to look I will do. All I know is it has two USB-C connectors (Thunderbolt 3 compatible)

I returned my lenovo miix 720 because it’s a piece of garbage. It’s a very similar tablet. I was waiting for the x1 gen 3 but when you mentioned the switch on/off button bug i changed my mind right away. It looks like another machine full of issues from Lenovo. thank you…:-)
Awesome review
Christopher, I have a few questions about the tablet - is it possible to email you or would you prefer they are posted on here?
I hope you recognize that you may have just posted your windows password (@ 11:40 in the video). You should probably change this.

I always use desktop mode. I cannot find use for the tablet mode. Desktop works fine whenever you want to flip it and read documents etc.
agreed

how did you get that price??
Thank you for your review. How well does the kick-stand work for sitting on the couch / working on your lap in general?
P.S. your cat is awesome ;-)

If anyone works for institution that has PlumBenefits this model is on sale again for $1,587.23. normal web price is $2,369.00
hi.
can you do a cinebench r15 test a few times on battery and on AC power?
I'd like to see the maximum throttling on overheat and load.
you can see it on my videos with acer switch 7, but you can speed up, if you want.
the acer was not the best choise, so i will bring it back.
thanks.
Hey, I downloaded the program, working on doing it
Christopher Brennan
thank you!
it will be very helpfull.
because the acer on AC power heats up an the dual Liquid-loop cooling system can't handle it.
hi!
Any progress?
sorry been working, will check it now.

do not rush. just asking.

Thank you for unboxing this tablet Mr. Brennan. I think I just found my next tablet computer. Where did you buy it by the way?
Fritz Hopper on Lenovo site. I don't think I or anyone will find again for the price I paid. I went back to see if I could get same price and price was alot more.
How has your screen been holding up? Any scratches from the keyboard?
Tim Saarem none at all I think the gorilla glass does job. !
Yep, I've had this problem and had a really hard time with the screen coating around the top half of the screen, a whole bunch of scratches and scuffs.
Noticeable scratches and dents on it.
Very disappointed with the screen glass quilty
Thanks for the. Video.

Thanks in advance

3. The pen takes 1 battery
Nice review. Can you use the keyboard when it is separated from the tablet?
Thank You. No You can't. I just tried it. it basically goes into tablet mode once you remove keyboard
Thanks for testing it!
congrats for this beast .👍
Can you share cinebench results on this tablet?
Sure

How about its real battery life? Because sometimes the OEM will give us the battery life from their special test environment.
Does it have Miracast ?
How does the digitizer compared to something like the surface pro?
I am not a big fan in general of digitizer pens. I had one on the original thinkpad tablet running android. I can't really compare it to the surface as I haven't really work with it yet. If I do ill let you know. Thanks
All right thank you

are you sure about the LTE? the two models offered look like they do not include this.
Yes, It has a nano sim card slot
Hi, I got mine yesterday. I know it has the slot but chances are it does not connect to anything unless you customize it and pay extra for it. I hope it is as you say but most probably it isnt. Thank you for review.
Where to buy at those prices
fan makes a lot of noise...does anyone have an idea of how to reduce the fan noise?
did you just say 9,5h battery life? is that a negative point?
Yes, as I have read some others have better.
Thanks for the review! Can u comment on the actual battery life for normal office use ?
When I disconnect the power and don't do any adjustments in power saving im only getting 3 hrs or so
Christopher Brennan Wow! That's much less than what they state (9.5hrs). Would be interested in knowing the difference when power saving/setting is fine-tuned. Thanks again for the info!
Tim Cheung yeah I have been testing it many different ways I'll let u know what I find. I'll change some settings as well. That is on high performance
Thanks for the review. How'd you get such a sweet price? That model is $2700+ as of today.
Through my workplace they have something called PlumBenefits. I couldn't believe it and nor could the Lenovo Customer service rep!
haha that s why probably they stopped the offer within some days.
Is it too big? you see it is almost with the same size of surface book2 13.5inch, and is bigger than x1 tablet gen 1 and 2. Thanks!
I believe the size is just right! I walk around with it in my workplace in tablet mode and as well as in bed. Furthermore using it in laptop mode its perfect size too. I guess it depends on what you are using it for as well. I am quite surprised with the performance of the device.
Any news about real life actual battery life would be appreciated
After using it the past several days I would agree at what they have it at 9.5 hrs
Really? I really hope so. I got 4 hours in first charge. I set the power a bit better now and will see. Estimated prediction on taskbar says around 5 hours in total. Maybe you could give some tips about settings and use.
mine for the moment is hardly 4 hours ! i really hope i am doing something wrong
Which way you got such low price?
hi, yours got sim/lte slot?
ridercun ridercun hi thanks for question. It says it does but I am going to make sure because for some Reason I am thinking it doesn't.
thanks for prompt reply CB. if this X1 Tablet 3rd Gen has sim/lte slot, hope you can make a simple short video showing that slot & demo how to use that. tq in adv.
Thanks for the review! How is living with only 2 USB-C ports?
It makes things a little tricky but honestly if i know i will need more i always have my Thinkpad P51 which is an "Animal" of a machine. I am transitioning more and more over to my X1 Tablet 3rd Gen. I did get a nice Lacie 5 TB Thunderbolt USB-C hard drive which works nice. Thanks for the question!
Xiangsheng Li yes.
The Thunderbolt ports are 4 lanes pci?
I apologize, I do not know the answer to that. If you can tell me where to look I will do. All I know is it has two USB-C connectors (Thunderbolt 3 compatible)

Is the tablet quiet with respect to fan noise
Jermaine Spence can hear the fan, but not loud . Have to listen hard to hear it. Tablet gets little warm but not hot.
Where you buy this sir ?
Lenovo.com using my workplace PlumBenefits
Christopher Brennan I check on lenovo.com and the price is different. Btw thanks for sharing
Where did you buy the tablet from.
Jermaine Spence Lenovo.com I saw they were sold out next day but may be back in stock.
What discount did u use to get it at that price?
Christopher Brennan I'd put in my order in if I knew
Interestingly where I work they have something called PlumBenefits and I was able to get that insane price which the customer service woman I was chatting at during my purchase couldn't believe it!
Ahh I have that site too looks like they took down the deal. Hopefully it goes on sale again
Too large bezels, perhaps next time...
Better battery life, fanless would be great, too.
Thanks for the review. Is there any chance you could check the screen for PWM flickering? If you lower the brightness to its lowest setting (before total blackness), and view the screen through a cell phone camera, do you see any flickering?
I've given up on the Acer Switch 7 (vaporware), and getting ready to buy the X1.
haha - i am enjoying this comment. Are you thinking of working on this tablet through the camera of your phone?
Manos Protonotarios No. PWM is a cheap method of dimming the brightness by switching the backlight on and off very fast. It can cause severe eyestrain for some. If you look at the screen at low brightness through a cell camera (with a high shutter speed) you can see the flickering. It's invisible to the naked eye.
yes, i know, i agree with you, i am very sensitive to this too, i am just teasing you.
No flickering seen :)
Christopher Brennan Awesome. Looks like Lenovo's delivered a beast. Can't wait to get mine. Cheers!
LTA enabled? Damn son

1. Do you ever feel like the screen is not as bright as you would like it to be?
2. Can you detach the keyboard and connect it backwards to fold it and use it in your lap to write down notes as a journal/notebook but with the keys facing away?
Hi Josue, thank you for your comment. I do alot of photoshop and video editing. I actually find the screen to be quite bright and don't have any concerns about the brightness. I have it side by side to my Thinkpad P51 which has NVIDIA Quadro M1200 dedicated 4 GB video ram, 4K display, color sensor by Pantone and I honestly can't see much of a difference. price!???! gosh i'd watch more intently if you said the price at the beginning
