I know this comment is kinda old, and I don't mean to be an asshole or anything, and I truly apologize if this comes off as rude, but I think he was confused because A) They didn't have any demonstration of the product, and B) the commercial kept looping back to the reason the people advertising the product think abled people might buy it.
If they had stuck with "hey, it can be hard to wipe, but you don't need to be embarrassed because we have a solution" instead of trying to find some reason for abled people to buy it, it would have made the purpose clearer.
The main thing that confused me personally was "why buy this when you could get a bidet or something installed? Cuz you could get poop on that and then you'd have to clean it, and that's a lot of effort, especially for a disabled person."

The hair vacuum thing is actually something that’s used in the military. When they buzz all of your hair off they have a vacuum hose attached to it. It’s so there isn’t any cleanup and they can get through cutting everyone’s hair faster
I distinctly remember my late grandma having a Flowbee when I was little. She complained about it a lot, so I don't think she ever actually used it.
Also, someone at one point told me that some of these products are literally designed with certain groups of people in mind (i.e. people with limited mobility) but they then market them to the general population to keep them cheap. Seeing that face mask at the end though makes me seriously question that claim.

I really thought he understood it.... I was like, "yes, finally".... But no. If you are fat or have a limited range of motion because you are elderly or injured or disabled, you can't always reach your ass. You still need to wipe, but you can't reach it, and asking someone else to wipe for you isn't a fun thing. Using a tool like this adds to your reach without you having to stretch or contort in a way your body isn't physically able to.
Always approach as seen on tv items with the mindset that they were made for someone with a disability. You can't bend enough to wipe? Comfort wipe. You need assistance getting out of the tub? Get a grip. Frequent urination in places without bathroom access for long periods of time? Uroclub. You don't have the ability to cut your hair and clean it up, but also struggle to go to great clips because you can't drive? Flowbe. You use crutches and can't carry your clothes to the bathroom when you shower, but can't hold the towel up when you go back to your room (and aren't using a robe because robes aren't meant to dry you)? Wearable towel. You had a stroke so half of your face muscles can't move and get exercise, but you want it to be less droopy? That mask thing that I couldn't hear the name of through Sean's screaming.
Always look at the commercials as being advertised to people with disabilities, but packaged as a general audience thing to lower their costs.
Yes! All of this! Many infomercial products that seem to over-exaggerate the level of difficulty doing something are most often doing so to imitate the difficulty had by people with disabilities.
That thing that helps you slip on your sock? Not for lazy people, it is for people who cannot bend over.
That thing that steadies the juice container so you can pour it with just one hand? Not for lazy people, it is for people who only have one hand.
But since the emphasis is on the ease of use of the product and not the disability it assists, they always show able-bodied people using the products, which makes the extreme exaggeration amusing to watch. But the products are often life-changing accessibility items for people with disabilities who need self-autonomy.
the thing that didn’t make sense about the comfort wipe was their insistence that toilet paper was gross, outdated, and you’d never have to use it again, but if i understand the product correctly, it just assists you in reaching your nether regions with the toilet paper. if they’d stuck to the messaging of “it helps you reach when you can’t” it would’ve been fine

The comfort wipe is a product thats made to help people who have an issue REACHING thats why the “bigger guy” and the elderly talking about needing help like it. Most infomercial products that feel ‘ridiculous’ are actually designed for people with disabilities like shaky hands, difficulty with moving their body, or just overall have a harder time with “simple/basic” stuff.
Im just saying all this for clarification the commentary and jokes still made me die with laughter i love these videos!

Yes, that’s what I was going to say, and you put it quite well. I have a good friend that had a stroke and has some limited mobility, and a lot of times when I see these “cheesy” ads, I think “Hey, that’d be great and helpful for my friend!” Yes, they often look ridiculous, and make both me and my friend laugh, but they can also be genuinely helpful, and are usually initially designed to help disabled folk. Obviously not all of them though.
I honestly never saw it in that way actually, I mean I guess some ads are more clear to what kind of people goes but maybe the way they promote it makes them look silly
That's the problem with so many ads. They neglect to cater their advertisements to their actual audience (ie people with disabilities who need these things) and market them to the broadest audience which just leaves people hella confused as to what the fuck they're gonna use it for.

And if the target demographic is made clear, those people that drive the price down won't buy the product. Think of the snuggie for example. So the people that buy it as a gimmick helps the price for the people that need it.

To get serious for a moment, a lot of these “weird” products are made for people w/ disabilities (ex. Snuggie, Comfort wipe, wearable towel, etc). Not all of them, but most of them

@@anzaca1 That's because they're trying to market to more people than just a specific group. Snuggies are for people with wheelchairs but half the people I know have one. I would use the comfort wipe because I have a really bad back and shoulder problems (that they actually did mention in the vid). They wouldn't make any money off of abled people if they were like "THIS IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE WITH THE ARTHRITIS".

Risotto Nero same idea as the Snuggie and wheelchair. Keeping a towel up while trying to man your own wheelchair can be difficult. Or even could be for those who aren’t neurotypical and don’t understand covering up/like to take their clothes off (i.e. those with severe autism, those that suffer from rye syndrome, etc) . It’s also great for children too.

I love making fun of products but I think we often forget that these gimmick-y products are usually made for differently abled folks who may not be able to do that same things that able-bodied folks can
First it's not differently abled it's disabled. Differently abled is what people who aren't disabled say to make it seem they give a shit about how disabled people feel. Second you're right that gimmicky products are often for disabled people but for the life of me I can not think of a disability that would allow you to piss in a golf club shaped tube but not just pee in the bushes
I don't often think of myself as disabled but I am. I have ADHD which is a disability and I have asthma which is a disability. If someone called me disabled I would not mind. If someone called me differently abled I would think them a patronizing jackwad and be tempted to beat them upside their head

I actually know the intended audience of some of these! The toilet paper holder is for disabled people, who don't have the flexibility to do it the normal way. Same thing with the wearable towel - if you don't have the coordination/finger strength to tie a robe or fasten a towel, something like that is actually helpful! A lot of ridiculous infomercial products are for disabled people, actually - for example, blankets with sleeves were originally designed for people in wheelchairs.
They're marketed this way because many people don't think that the disabled make for a profitable enough market, so they try selling it to the general public, and the results are... well, you watched the video.

It's ridiculously obvious who it's for and most of the time is spent on how it's now possible without help like with the elderly lady he made fun of and the section where he goes "Ooooh, you can wipe your back? But why..." were about people with reduced mobility. I finaly thought he got it after the "ooooh [it's so obvious now]" but he turned out to be a lost cause. He didn't even really get what it was for and claimed it wasn't displayed well enough...
The golfclub were obviously also mainly about a elderly man and most people have heard that it's more frequent and harder to hold when you get older. It's pretty much impossible to miss in all kinds of entertainment.
The rest that i can remember seem like they wouldn't be uniqely useful to the disabled.

My grandmother uses the comfort wipe, she puts the clean paper on, and it helps her to reach behind and wipe herself. Then she just pushes the button and it drops into the toilet behind her, before she pulls it back. it remains clean. It is for older people!!

My dad bought the flowbee when us kids were younger. If you want a trim before you actually cut/style your hair with someone STABBING a blunt object with hard, plastic guards onto your head as you cry while getting yelled at to hold still, I recommend it.

As someone who broke my dominant arm really bad a few years ago, the comfort wipe was actually incredibly useful while I healed. It comes off ridiculous to people who are able bodied, but when you can't reach to wipe properly because you are injured, or impaired, it's really nice to have tools that extend your reach and let you clean yourself without help.

It may seem insensible to you to pee in a golf club; but to people who have urinary incontinence, and are prone to accidents may like the uro club when golfing!

@@quinneasom if you're paralyzed from the waist down wouldnt still be hard to reach. Because I'd assume it would be really hard to lean to the side. I also have a disability called Dechnne Muscular Dystrophy and I can still move my legs and stuff and I still have trouble wiping myself. Btw if this offended you, I'm sorry, just a curious kid.
