Soapwort, a useful flower worth to grow (Saponaria officialis)

Soapwort (Saponaria officialis) is a sweet smelling flower with many cleansing properties. Pick its flowers or leaves fresh and wash your hands or dry them to make a herbal hair bath to reminiscent summer during dark winter months or to wash your extra delicate woollen clothes with.

The roots make soap when cooked.

Yes the whole plant contains saponins, that's why I only use the leaves and the flowers, as digging out roots will result in less plants next year. 🌸
